A UPS driver in North Carolina saved an elderly man’s life on Tuesday.  He noticed the guy hadn’t gotten the package he dropped off on Friday.  Eventually he found the guy inside, having a medical emergency.  He’d been on the floor for days.  The driver talked about it with the local news, and got a little emotional.  He said he develops friendships with people, and with some elderly rural customers, the only people they see during the week are the FedEx guy, UPS, or the mailman.

An elderly couple in Houston misplaced their spare car key, and started noticing changes in their car . . . like the seat and mirrors were different.  Turns out a guy had been STEALING it every night, using it as a getaway vehicle while he broke into other people’s cars, and returning it before they woke up.

Guy Tried to Scam an Elderly Man… the Former Head of the FBI and CIA

94-year-old William Webster of Washington D.C. and his wife, Lynda, got a call about four years ago from a man who threatened to set their house on fire or shoot them if they didn’t pay him thousands of dollars.

What the guy didn’t realize is . . . William is a LEGEND in law enforcement.  He’s the only person who’s ever been the director of the FBI and the director of the CIA.  He headed up the FBI from 1978 to 1987, and the CIA from 1987 to 1991.

So when he got the first scam call, he immediately called the FBI.  And when the guy kept calling, William and Lynda kept alerting the FBI . . . and Lynda even had an agent listen in on one of the calls.

The FBI traced the calls to a 29-year-old man in Jamaica named Keniel Thomas.  And when he flew to New York in 2017 to visit a friend, he was instantly arrested.

He’s been in jail ever since, and he was just sentenced to six years in prison for trying to scam the Websters and successfully scamming several other elderly people.  He’ll be deported to Jamaica when his sentence is over.

TODAY’S GOOD NEWS

There’s an 18-year-old kid outside Des Moines, Iowa named Clay Walker who’s legally blind and has cerebral palsy.  He was born four months premature, so it was kind of a miracle he even survived.

Anyway, he loves basketball so much that he decided to sign up for his high school basketball team.  He’s almost totally blind, which makes it hard for him to really play.  So even though he’s an official member of the team, it’s more like an honorary thing.

But that changed last Friday when his coach put him into a GAME for the first time.

He always wears his uniform and sits on the bench.  And his coach wanted to get him in, because it was Senior Night.

And here’s the cool part:  He only got to take one shot . . . his only shot of the season . . . and he DRAINED it from about 15 feet.

Obviously everyone went nuts.  Even the players on the other team were clapping for him.  Clay’s team was way behind, so the points were irrelevant.  But winning and losing didn’t really matter.

One of his teammates said the only part of the night that TRULY mattered was Clay hitting that shot.

What’s the Weirdest Thing That Caused Your Kid to Have a Meltdown?

Toddlers are the biggest drama queens in the world.  They can have a full meltdown anywhere, anytime.  So someone online asked parents to name the most RIDICULOUS things that have caused their kid to lose it.

Here are the ten best ones we saw . . .

  1. “My toddler lost it because the imaginary door on his imaginary fire truck wouldn’t open, and he was stuck inside.”

  1. “Our daughter cried because she didn’t go to our wedding . . . seven years before she was born.”

  1. “My kid screamed at his balloons for an hour, because they wouldn’t stop floating.”

  1. “My son wanted me to wrap him like a burrito for bed, then got angry I wrapped him like a bean burrito . . . because he wanted to be a chicken-and-rice burrito.”

  1. “Our toddler cried because we didn’t have a ‘hamburger bun’ color in our colored pencil set.”

  1. “Our 18-month-old son had a meltdown, because I wouldn’t let him pour his apple juice on the cat.”

  1. “My daughter lost it because she wanted a twin sister . . . even though she already HAS a twin sister.”

  1. “My toddler got ticked off because the trees are taller than our house.”

  1. “My son lost it because I wouldn’t let him get into the car parked next to our car.”

  1. “My toddler loves being tickled, so I was tickling him one day.  He [passed gas] and immediately started crying and screaming.  I asked him why . . . and he replied, ‘I was saving that for later.'”

USB Stick Found in New Zealand Seal Poop Somehow Still Works

Did you lose a USB stick while canoeing along the beaches of New Zealand? Well, you’re in luck.  Researchers at the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research have found it — inside a piece of seal poop.

NIWA scientists have posted video from the still-working stick on social media, in the hopes of reuniting it with its owner. According to NIWA’s website, the poo — or “scat” — was collected by a vet examining a sick leopard seal and sent to marine biologist Krista Hupman, for her study on these arctic predators. Hupman had stuck it in the freezer, where it stayed for over a year until just three weeks ago, when researchers defrosted it and discovered something large and hard inside.

But amazingly, the drive still works and features photos and videos of sea lions frolicking in the water — along with the nose of a blue kayak, from which the footage appears to have been shot.

LADY ANTEBELLUM OPEN VEGAS SHOW WITH ‘NO MAJOR GLITCHES’

Lady Antebellum opened their brand new “Our Kind of Vegas” residency at The Pearl Theater inside The Palms Casino and Resort in Las Vegas this past weekend. They played shows on both Friday (February 8th) and Saturday (February 9th), and as Hillary Scott and Charles Kelley tell us, it surprisingly went off without a hitch.[“Well, knock on wood, there were no major glitches, which is awesome. (Charles Kelley) I can’t believe. (Hillary) I know, it’s kind of a miracle. (Charles) It felt like we were amongst a lot of friends.  That’s the thing about being in a venue this size too, you know.  We’ve been playing in amphitheaters and arenas and you feel like you have to just go boom, boom, boom, boom, boom because everybody’s been sitting out tailgating since twelve o’clock, you know drinking, and you can’t lull it too much.  And we felt like we could take a breath and we could have some conversations with the crowd.  It was just refreshing.  It was everything we dreamed of.”]

Lady A’s “Our Kind of Vegas” continues with shows on Wednesday (February 13th), Friday (February 15th) and Saturday (February 16th).

Here are the remainder of the group’s Vegas dates:
May 10, 11, 15, 17, 18
