There’s a new unofficial type of yoga called RAGE YOGA.  And it involves doing yoga poses while you yell . . . curse . . . and drink.

And one of the instructors says that even though swearing and cursing feels like the opposite of traditional yoga, it has the same end goal . . . to, quote, “let go of your frustration and rage in a healthy way.”

There are actual classes for it in Houston and in Alberta . . . and there are also online classes you can buy at RageYoga.com

Antarctica’s ice is melting six times faster than in the 1980s, according to a new study, a dramatic acceleration that’s a key indicator of human-caused climate change. The researchers found that Antarctica has lost almost 278 billion tons of ice per year since 2009, while in the 1980s it was losing 44 billion tons a year. The lead researcher said that East Antarctica, which used to be considered stable, is losing 56 billion tons of ice a year, and that area’s melting increases the risk of a more than 10-foot sea level rise over the next century or so.

“Party of Five” is coming back.  After ordering up a pilot for a reboot of the 1990s series last fall, Freeform has announced that a full season order is now a go. In the original version, the five Salinger children were left to sort out life after the sudden death of their parents in a car accident. In the new version, the Acosta children (still a party of five!) must band together and move forward after their parents are deported to Mexico.

Carjacking Victim Grabs the Guy’s Phone, Uses It to Negotiate and Get His Car Back

A 33-year-old restaurant manager in St. Louis named Jonathan Neukomm got carjacked on Monday.

He was sitting in his car on his break Monday night, when the carjacker walked up with a gun and told him to get out.  So he did.

Then he tried to reason with the guy and told him it wasn’t worth it.  And the guy responded by trying to SHOOT him in the leg.  But luckily his gun jammed.

At that point, Jonathan decided to throw his keys on the ROOF of the restaurant, because he knew he could go up and get them later.  Which was pretty clever.  But unfortunately, he didn’t throw them far enough.

They ended up on the ground next to the building, and the carjacker grabbed them.  But while he was rushing over, he dropped his phone, and Jonathan grabbed it.  Then they started negotiating.

Police probably could have used the phone to I.D. the guy.  It’s not clear if he realized that or not.  But he agreed to trade the car for the phone, then ran off, and police are still looking for him.

TODAY’S GOOD NEWS

A guy named Tim Curfman was taking his trash out last Monday in Alexandria, Minnesota.  (About 125 miles northwest of Minneapolis.)  And his four-year-old black lab named Midnight was with him.

This was just before the polar vortex hit.  But we’re talking about Minnesota.  So it was still one-below-zero outside.

Anyway, Tim noticed Midnight was acting weird.  Her ears were perked up, and she doesn’t usually do that.  So even though it was freezing, he decided to follow her.

And she led him right to his 87-year-old neighbor Noreen, who’d fallen in the snow, and couldn’t get up.

Tim got her inside, and his wife put her in warm clothes.  It turned out she’d been out there for over 30 minutes.  But she must have been bundled up pretty good, because she didn’t end up with frostbite or any serious injuries.

She says they definitely saved her life though.  And Tim told the local news he rewarded Midnight with an excessive number of treats.

What’s the Weirdest Thing That Caused Your Kid to Have a Meltdown?

Toddlers are the biggest drama queens in the world.  They can have a full meltdown anywhere, anytime.  So someone online asked parents to name the most RIDICULOUS things that have caused their kid to lose it.

Here are the ten best ones we saw . . .

  1. “My toddler lost it because the imaginary door on his imaginary fire truck wouldn’t open, and he was stuck inside.”

  1. “Our daughter cried because she didn’t go to our wedding . . . seven years before she was born.”

  1. “My kid screamed at his balloons for an hour, because they wouldn’t stop floating.”

  1. “My son wanted me to wrap him like a burrito for bed, then got angry I wrapped him like a bean burrito . . . because he wanted to be a chicken-and-rice burrito.”

  1. “Our toddler cried because we didn’t have a ‘hamburger bun’ color in our colored pencil set.”

  1. “Our 18-month-old son had a meltdown, because I wouldn’t let him pour his apple juice on the cat.”

  1. “My daughter lost it because she wanted a twin sister . . . even though she already HAS a twin sister.”

  1. “My toddler got ticked off because the trees are taller than our house.”

  1. “My son lost it because I wouldn’t let him get into the car parked next to our car.”

  1. “My toddler loves being tickled, so I was tickling him one day.  He [passed gas] and immediately started crying and screaming.  I asked him why . . . and he replied, ‘I was saving that for later.'”

THROWING SHADE:
A book by a German forest ranger claims that trees are a lot more complex than we’re giving them credit for.

Peter Wohlleben, who wrote “The Hidden Life of Trees: What They Feel, How They Communicate”, says that not only are trees able to count, learn, remember, and nurse sick neighbors, they can accommodate their friends by growing their thick branches away from each other so they don’t block their “buddy’s” light.

Wohlleben says that for some reason, some trees have been able to keep the ancient stumps of long-ago felled companion trees alive for centuries by feeding them a sugar solution through their roots. And if that weren’t enough, apparently trees are also able to warn each other of danger by sending electrical signals throughout the forest.

How?  Through a fungal network that he calls the “Wood Wide Web”.

Art on the Superyachts: Beware of Wine Corks and Unruly Children

Expensive yachts that double as floating art galleries can lead to unexpected and costly mishaps.

Priceless paintings and sculptures kept on the vessels face damage not only from storms and storing conditions, but also from random threats including breakfast cereal splashed by the owner’s kids and the yacht’s crew popping champagne on board.

Two British art historians set out to help super boat owners preserve paintings hanging on their yachts. Art historian and conservationist Pandora Mather-Rees runs courses in practical care of fine arts on a superyacht — at a cost of as much as $350 a day.

Mather-Rees started giving lessons for crews after a billionaire sought her help in restoring a Jean-Michel Basquiat painting ruined first by his children throwing cornflakes and then by the crew wiping them off carelessly. Her course teaches the crew to understand the value of objects on board and how to seek specialist help in case of emergency.

LUKE BRYAN AND WIFE BECOME HEROES TO SENIOR RESCUE DOG

Luke Bryan and his wife, Caroline, are real-life heroes to a special dog who, until recently, was housed at an animal rescue in Nashville. Eighteen-year-old shelter dog, Poochie, was adopted by the Bryans after its owner surrendered it due to becoming allergic.

According to a Facebook post by the shelter, “We are so thrilled for Poochie and know he is in great hands. Their adopting this sweet old guy will allow us the chance to save yet another . . . There is a song somewhere in this story.”

Luke is currently in Los Angeles working on the upcoming season of American Idol. Unfortunately, he won’t be able to return home to Nashville in time for Valentine’s Day, but he says he and Caroline might just have a hot date on the West Coast. [“For Valentine’s Day this year, I’m working every day around Valentine’s. I’m doing Idol. Actually, Idol is filming on Valentine’s Day, and so I have approached Caroline about maybe flying out to L.A. I think we’re gonna have a short taping day at Idol, so maybe we can have a Valentine’s dinner at one of her favorite restaurants in Los Angeles. I’ll try to make it somewhat romantic.”]

American Idol is set to resume on March 3rd on ABC.

Chris Janson is the Most Positive Person on the Planet

I have no idea what makes CHRIS JANSON run, but if he ever bottles it, I’m buying a couple of cases.  Check out what he said at a recent industry event when someone asked him how he stays so positive.

Quote, “Never in my life have I ever needed anything more than what I had at the moment.  I always felt blessed and right where I was supposed to be.”

And that includes those early days in Nashville when he was sleeping in his car.  Quote, “I always felt like I was winning.  I felt like I was winning then.  I feel like I’m winning now.  When you wake up, you’re winning.  No big deal.”

He finally got a job performing at Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge, and he actually shared an apartment with Tyler Farr.   Quote, “People always make jokes about Ramen noodle diets but that was basically it . . . that and the kids meal at Cracker Barrel.”

Wait . . . he’s not done:  Quote, “Every day when I wake up, I say I don’t want for anything . . . and I say that with a great peace in my heart, because we’re not really promised walking out of the building and making it to the next destination.”

CHRIS YOUNG’S UNFORGETTABLE VALENTINE’S DAY

For Chris Young, Valentine’s Day will always be about his mom and stepdad. Chris is very close to his stepdad, who has been married to his mom since he was a kid.

Chris tells us that Valentine’s Day is more like a special family holiday. [“My favorite story about Valentine’s Day is everybody’s like, ‘So, what are you gonna do special?’ or, you know, kind of, ‘What do you have in your back pocket on Valentine’s Day?’ And I can never live up to my stepdad, because he asked my mom to marry him on Valentine’s Day, and then called us down from upstairs and asked me and my sister permission. So, pretty much anything I do, he made me look like a punk for the rest of my life (laughs) on Valentine’s Day.”]

Chris recently announced his headlining Raised On Country Tour 2019, which will kick off on May 16th in Alpharetta, Georgia. He’ll be joined by special guest Chris Janson as well as Dylan Scott, LoCash and Jimmie Allen.
