On Today’s Show
February 26, 2019 9:35 amJustin Koerner of Newark, Delaware, says he was taking a nap in his Ford Escape when he sensed someone getting into the driver’s seat and another sit on his head.
The car pulled away, and Koerner says the thieves got out while it was still moving.
He then slipped into the front seat in a daze to try and stop the vehicle, but it crashed into someone’s property and he either fell back asleep or passed out. It wasn’t until he awoke that he realized the incident actually happened.
Police eventually retrieved security footage from a nearby home that showed two men get out of the moving SUV. The footage hasn’t been released though, as the investigation is ongoing.

There’s a company called TourRadar and they’re looking to send someone on a once-in-a-lifetime trip around the world. You’ll travel to five continents over 50 days, with all expenses paid.
There’s just one catch: You’ve got to do the entire trip with a STRANGER. I guess they think it’ll make for more interesting videos and social media content if they send two strangers, so that’s what they’re doing.
If you’re interested, you can apply on their website with a two-minute video.

- “Levi Strauss’ Birthday” (1829-1902), the man who created the first Levi’s blue jeans for California’s gold miners in 1850. Without him, many of us wouldn’t have a wardrobe.
- “National Cupcake Day”, saluting those fabulous little cakes that don’t count as cheating on your diet ’cause they’re just small … right? In Canada, the day is a fundraiser in which people are asked to ‘bake a difference’ to support animal shelters, SPCAs, and Humane Societies.

TOO STUPID FOR US TO MAKE UP:
➢ It seems that love doesn’t last forever. Even for a pair of giant tortoises who have split up after living together for 115 years. Bibi and Poldi were both born around 1897, met soon after, and became a couple. They shared space at a zoo in Switzerland before spending the last 40 years together at a zoo in Austria. But a few years ago, things turned ugly when the female (Bibi) bit a chunk out of Poldi’s shell. Although zoo staffers have tried to help the pair reunite, nothing has worked, including “couples counselling.” Bibi still hisses at her former partner, and workers have been forced to build separate, though neighboring, living facilities for them. Zoo chief Helga Happ says, “We get the feeling they can’t stand the sight of each other anymore.”
➢ Yes, socks go missing. It happens. But Kim Crosland of New Zealand knew that the rate at which hers were disappearing over a two-year period was extreme. After speaking to a neighbor with the same problem, she had an idea. She wrote her phone number on a sock with the message, “Please call if you find this sock.” She received a text the same day from a neighbor who is the owner of a 12-year-old cat named Billy. That neighbor says Billy has been bringing socks home for years and leaving them in the driveway. She even displays them on a wall in hopes that they will be claimed.

TODAY’S GOOD NEWS
Earlier this month, a guy in Phoenix named Matt Shoukry sold a used VCR on eBay for 40 bucks. And the 86-year-old guy who bought it sent a hand-written thank-you note.
His first name is Don, and he’d never bought anything on eBay before. So he probably didn’t know you can leave feedback online.
In the letter, he explained that he’d recently found a bunch of old tapes, but didn’t have any way to watch them. So he thanked Matt for the prompt delivery . . . said the VCR was like new . . . and talked about all the videos he watched.
He said there was footage from his retirement party 25 years ago, which he’d never seen before. Adding, “Jeez, we were young.” And he was also able to watch his wedding video, and see a bunch of friends and family who are no longer with us.
Some of his other tapes showed vacations and skiing trips with his kids. So he got to see them growing up.
Matt was so blown away by the letter, he’s framing it. He’s also writing Don back to say thank you. And he’s offering to digitize all his tapes for him, so they’re easier to watch.

MAN’S FIRST DAY OF WORK GOES HILARIOUSLY WRONG
Being the new person anywhere is a bit stressful, especially when it’s a job. Back in October, a man named Jon Caña started a brand-new job at a digital marketing agency in San Francisco.
He took to twitter to share an unexpected surprise on his desk on his first day: a beautiful bouquet of flowers. He shared photos of himself with the flowers, and told Buzzfeed he assumed they were part of the “whole first day experience.”
His manager didn’t know where they were from, and there was no card attached, but Caña accepted them without question. His post has been liked nearly 13,000 times.
Very recently, at a holiday party, the man’s office manager confessed that the flowers on his desk his first day were meant for someone else, and no one said anything because they saw him having a mini photo shoot around the office.
Caña came clean on Twitter, writing, “I FOUND OUT THESE FLOWERS WERE MISPLACED ON MY DESK AND SUPPOSED TO BE FOR SOMEONE GOING ON MATERNITY LEAVE BECAUSE THEY DONT GIVE FLOWERS TO NEW HIRES BUT THEY SAW ME TAKING PICS WITH THEM AND FELT TOO BAD TO TAKE THEM AWAY IM CAAAACKLING,”.
In the days since his post has gone viral with over 260,000 likes.

Your Dog’s Personality Changes Over Time . . . and He Becomes More Like You
If you’re thinking about getting a dog because you feel it’ll help you get off the couch and moving around . . . maybe don’t. In a few years, you AND the dog will be on the couch together.
A new study out of Michigan State University found that dogs’ personalities CHANGE over time.
And in a lot of cases, they actually take on some of the big personality traits from their owners.
The researchers found that people who are outgoing had dogs that were more active and excitable . . . people who are unhappy had dogs that were more fearful and harder to train . . . and agreeable people had dogs that were less aggressive.
The results were a surprise to the researchers, who say, quote, “We expected the dogs’ personalities to be fairly stable because they don’t have wild lifestyle changes [like] humans do, but they actually change a lot.”

Luke Combs is the First Country Artist to Have His First Five Songs Go Number One
Talk about coming out of the gates strong. LUKE COMBS has set a new BILLBOARD record by having his FIRST five singles reach Number One on the Country Airplay chart.
It all started with “Hurricane”back in 2017. That was followed-up by “When It Rains It Pours”, “One Number Away”, “She Got the Best of Me” . . . and “Beautiful Crazy”, which is there right now.
He passed some big names along the way. Brooks & Dunn and Florida Georgia Line each started their careers with four #1 singles in a row.
Brooks & Dunn’s first four were “Brand New Man”, “My Next Broken Heart”, “Neon Moon”, and “Boot Scootin’ Boogie”. FGL’s were “Cruise”, “Get Your Shine On”, “Round Here”, and “Stay”.
Reba McEntire on Why She Said No to Playing Molly Brown in “Titanic”
You may have heard the story about REBA MCENTIRE being all set to play Molly Brown in “Titanic” . . . but had to pull out because of a scheduling issue. The role went to Kathy Bates.
Reba talked about why that happened. Quote, “We were on tour and I had a lot of people on the payroll and we had these three months already scheduled to do the movie. “And then they got behind on scheduling and said, ‘No, we’re going to have to move it in this time.’ [But] we couldn’t reschedule all the arenas and everything.”
Nobody knew the movie would be that huge, but it wouldn’t have mattered because she said it was more important to take care of her people.
Ironically, Reba almost had a second chance to play Molly Brown, this time in a Broadway musical, but it didn’t happen. She and Kathy Bates did work together. Kinda. They both voiced characters in the 2006 version of “Charlotte’s Web”
ELI YOUNG BAND AREN’T MUCH FOR TIMELINES
The Eli Young Band released their first album in 2002, and while they’ve accomplished a lot in their career, they still have some things left on their bucket list, like performing at Madison Square Garden. But Mike Eli tells us the band tries to not spend too much time focusing on their big, long-term goals. [“It’s tough because we’ve always had the outlook on our life and our career as being thankful and trying not to think too far ahead. Just try to be in the moment, and that’s come to serve us really well. I think that there are times when you can let that completely overtake your work ethic. If all you’re thinking about is the big bucket list things then sometimes you can get bogged down in, ‘Well why isn’t this happening faster’ you know? I mean if we were on a timeline I don’t know if we would’ve ever made it. We’re going on almost 20 years of being a band and if we would have thought that it was going to take this long to get where we were, I don’t know, would we have made the same decisions? Who knows.”]
