On Today’s Show

A woman named Chequita Jenkins was at a buffet restaurant in Huntsville, Alabama last Friday night, and she was waiting for them to bring out more crab legs.

Another guy named John Chapman was also waiting for the crab legs.  And when the staff finally brought some out after a 10-minute wait, John and Chequita got into an argument over who cut in line.

It quickly turned into a SWORDFIGHT . . . where they fenced with TONGS from the buffet.  And from there, they started breaking plates.

There was an off-duty cop eating at the restaurant at the time, and he broke up the fight.  Chequita was charged with assault, for starting the fight . . . and John was charged with disorderly conduct.

Rescue workers in the German town of Bensheim received an unusual call after a fat rat got stuck in a sewer manhole cover – all of which was captured in a viral video.

It took a team of about eight firefighters and a local professional animal rescuer to free the female rat on Sunday afternoon. An animal rescue organization was involved in the rat’s rescue.

A video showed firefighters lift the manhole cover and prop it up on wedges. That’s when one of them managed to pop the chubby rat free and release it back into the sewer.

The group described the rescue on Facebook and the post has garnered 3,000 reactions and more than 800 shares so far. The vast majority of the 500 comments have been positive, with people praising the rescuers for their professionalism and tact.

Cop Played Barry White for a Couple He’d Just Arrested, While They Hooked Up

Officer Doug McNeal from the Fort Pierce, Florida police department arrested a 23-year-old guy and a 24-year-old woman last July for shoplifting jewelry and baby toys at a Walmart.

Their names are Zachary Moellendick and Krista Leigh.

And when he put Zach and Krista in the backseat of his police cruiser, they started hooking up.

The dash cam shows them hugging, kissing . . . and then their hands kinda disappear out of view.

Meanwhile, Officer McNeal decided NOT to block what was going on . . . in fact, at one point he even played Barry White’s “Can’t Get Enough of Your Love, Babe” on the car’s radio.

Anyway, both Zach and Krista wound up getting convicted of theft.

And after an internal affairs investigation, McNeal was suspended without pay for 20 days for letting them get-it-on in the backseat.

TODAY’S GOOD NEWS

43-year-old Seth Marko and his wife Jennifer own a bookstore in San Diego called The Book Catapult.  They opened it in 2017.

Late last month, Seth had to have emergency open-heart surgery.  It took 10 hours, and he was in the hospital for 11 days.  And Jennifer had to close the store, because their only employee was out sick with the swine flu.

But then other bookstore owners and employees in the area heard about it, and THEY stepped in to help.

They kept the store open while Seth was in the hospital, so Jennifer could be with him the whole time.  And one of them offered to babysit their three-year-old daughter.

Someone also started a GoFundMe page to help with medical bills.  And as of last night, it was up around $10,000.

Seth is now back home recovering, but he’s pretty weak.  So they’re still offering to help him out with whatever he needs.  He’s hoping to be back up to full speed by April.

PARENTS ARE PICKING QUIRKY BABY TO MAKE THEIR KIDS STAND OUT ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Everyone wants their kid to be unique, and it shows in current baby name trends.

Baby name consultant Sherri Suzanne says parents are choosing names they hope will make their child stand out online.

Some of today’s leading names are Ava, Paisley, and Harley for girls, and Benjamin, Bentley and Benson for boys. You have to keep things simple, though– choose a name that’s not so odd that it will be hard to pronounce or spell, or that’ll put a target on your kid’s back for bullies.

Suzanne adds, “I think the recipe for success starts with a name that can be said with confidence– such a name can be a time-honored classic, a trendy Top 10 or completely unique.”

Lindsay Ell Had Some Pre-Cancerous Cells Removed

LINDSAY ELL had surgery yesterday in Nashville to have some pre-cancerous cells removed.  She posted the news on Instagram early in the morning.

Here’s what she wrote:  “I don’t have cancer, but the doctor found pre-cancerous cells growing in my body that need to be removed.  Sometimes we think we’re fine. Sometimes we think we eat healthy and workout, and that means we should be fine.

“But never underestimate the power of a check up at the doctor.  You never know, and if you catch something early enough, it could save your life.  Going in for surgery today, gonna get this stuff out of my body.”

At least she’s not going it alone.  She posted photos of her mom, who’s in town from Canada.  It’s not clear how long Lindsay will need to recover.  Her European tour is supposed to start tomorrow.

DIERKS BENTLEY: ‘MARIE KONDO HAS CHANGED MY LIFE’ – (03/01/2019)

Dierks Bentley has not been a fan of Nashville’s weather these last several weeks, with more days of gray skies than sunshine and enough rain to cause flooding in several local areas. On the flip side, Dierks tells us that being forced to stay indoors has helped him change his perspective and learn to embrace some new things, like the world of Japanese organization guru Marie Kondo. [“Whenever I’m feeling like some external change is gonna make me happier it reminds me you’ve got to go inside and do like the work, you know? Inner engineering. Like rechange the way you’re thinking and feeling about things, and, yeah, the weather’s crap right now, but if the weather hadn’t been crap I wouldn’t have discovered Marie Kondo and this whole tidying lady from Japan whose like changed my life (laughs). It’s like, ‘this is actually a great time to go through all your crap, Dierks,’ and so like I’ve gone through books. It goes clothes, books, and then it’s like momentos and stuff. That’s gonna be really hard, like letters and stuff. Oh yeah, I’m all about Kondo-ing everything.”] SOUNDCUE (:36 OC: . . . about Kondo-ing everything.)

FAST FACTS

Dierks is nominated for Male Artist, Album of the Year for The Mountain, and Music Event and Video for “Buring Man” with Brothers Osborne at the ACM Awards on April 7th in Las Vegas.

Justin Moore: Sometimes ‘you gotta pass the kids on to Grandma’

Justin Moore has been busy working on his 5th album and between that and being on the road, his schedule keeps him away from home a lot. Over the years he’s figured out the best ways to just chill out. Justin tells us more: [“My absolute favorite way to do it would be to have my parents watch the kids and just stay home. I’m pretty fond of my house because I don’t get to stay at it very often. And it’s kind of set up to have a good time, whether it be riding four wheelers or hang out at the bar area or whatever.  But when Kate and I have an opportunity to go away for a few days that’s always fun. And obviously it’s good for us personally, but it’s good for our marriage. You got to do that as parents, you gotta pass the kids on to grandma and grandpa for three or four days every now and then and kinda check out for a minute.”] SOUNDCUE :32 (OC: for a minute)

FAST FACTS

His current tour runs through mid-March
