A grandmother from Texas named Judith Streng was touring Iceland with her son last week when they saw a big chunk of ice shaped like a throne that had washed up on a beach.  So she decided to sit on it while her son took a picture.

And as she was posing, a large wave rolled in . . . picked up the chunk of ice she was on . . . and carried her out to sea.

The water was VERY cold.  So if she’d fallen in, hypothermia would have set in fast.  Luckily, someone on a boat saw it happen and picked her up.

Her son got photos of the whole thing.  And now they’re going viral after her granddaughter made fun of her and posted them on Twitter.

A Las Vegas home listed for $18 million is going viral due to its unusual location — inside an underground bomb shelter. The home features five bedrooms, six bathrooms, a guest house, a pool, a spa, an artificial lawn and artificial trees — all underground. The listing states the “concrete and steel doomsday bunker was designed to survive cataclysmic events in comfort.”

The property features 500 linear feet of floor to ceiling murals featuring artificial city and mountain views, as well as lighting designed to simulate sunrise, daytime and sunset. The home, built in the 1960s, has gone viral online, with many noting the similarities between the underground bunker and the fictional underground home where Brendan Fraser’s character was raised in 1999 romantic comedy Blast from the Past.

ENTERTAINMENT

LUKE PERRY from “Beverly Hills, 90210” and “Riverdale” passed away yesterday morning.  He was 52.  Sadly, Luke had a massive stroke last Wednesday, and he never recovered.  Luke’s final role will be in Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming movie “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”.

LUKE wasn’t expected to be a major part of the “90210” revival that was announced for this summer . . . but since it was supposed to be a pseudo-reality show, it’s hard to imagine it still happening, and NOT being heavily affected by Luke’s death.

  • “The Vanishing” (R-Rated, Mystery/Suspense):  Three lighthouse keepers on the remote Flannan Isles find a hidden trunk of gold, leading to their mysterious disappearance. (Gerard Butler, Peter Mullan)

A Man Steals $33,000 in Rare Coins . . . and Cashes Them in for Face Value

There’s a 40-year-old guy named Shane Mele from Riviera Beach, Florida.

And back in December, he broke into his boss’s office, and stole the guy’s rare coin collection.  It was worth about $33,000.

Then Shane took the coins to a Coinstar machine . . . and cashed them in at FACE VALUE.  And he got enough store credit to buy two 12-packs of beer.  So yeah, he turned $33,000 in coins into roughly $30.

He was just arrested for grand theft.  But unfortunately, the cops haven’t been able to recover the missing coins.

A Guy Goes Viral for Buying a Ton of Girl Scout Cookies Then Gets Busted by the DEA

You may’ve seen this viral story last week about a 46-year-old guy named Detric McGowan in Greenville, South Carolina.

Earlier this month, he spent $540 to buy every single box of cookies from two Girl Scouts outside a grocery store, so they wouldn’t have to stand out in the cold.

Well . . . Detric’s story made a HARD-left turn from good guy to bad guy.  Because he was just arrested by the DEA.

It turns out Detric is accused of importing heroin, cocaine, and fentanyl from Mexico, and he’s facing 22 charges for drug trafficking, conspiracy to import drugs, cash smuggling, and maintaining a drug-involved premise.

RANDOM REPORT

  1. Cheetos exist because of the U.S. military.  It needed a new way to ship and store cheese during World War Two, and a USDA scientist invented cheese powder.

Then after the war, manufacturers including the Frito Company bought the leftover powder and came up with new ways to use it.  Cheetos were the first.

  1. “National Lampoon’s Vacation” gets credit for killing the station wagon.  After the movie came out, sales plummeted and the minivan almost immediately became the most popular family car.

  1. Baskin-Robbins was almost Robbins-Baskin.  They were brothers-in-law . . . Burton Baskin was married to Irv Robbins’ sister Shirley.  They each had ice cream shops, decided to merge in 1948, and flipped a coin to see whose name would go first.

TODAY’S GOOD NEWS

43-year-old Seth Marko and his wife Jennifer own a bookstore in San Diego called The Book Catapult.  They opened it in 2017.

Late last month, Seth had to have emergency open-heart surgery.  It took 10 hours, and he was in the hospital for 11 days.  And Jennifer had to close the store, because their only employee was out sick with the swine flu.

But then other bookstore owners and employees in the area heard about it, and THEY stepped in to help.

They kept the store open while Seth was in the hospital, so Jennifer could be with him the whole time.

And one of them offered to babysit their three-year-old daughter.

Someone also started a GoFundMe page to help with medical bills.  And as of last night, it was up around $10,000.

Seth is now back home recovering, but he’s pretty weak.  So they’re still offering to help him out with whatever he needs.  He’s hoping to be back up to full speed by April.

New Rules for Communicating in the Digital Age

Someone came up with 15 new rules for communication in the digital age that we should all start following.  See how many of these you agree with . . .

  1. Don’t randomly FaceTime people.  If you want to video chat, shoot them a text first.

  1. One-word texts like “K” and “LOL” are conversation killers.  Don’t respond with one-word replies, unless you don’t want to talk anymore.

  1. If someone you know comments on a photo or video you posted, you should respond.  Not necessarily a written response.  A “like” or “love” is okay.

  1. Don’t switch to a different form of communication.  Meaning if someone emails you, respond via email, don’t text.  And if they text, don’t email.

  1. Don’t “like” your own posts.  It makes you look desperate to get the number up.

  1. Don’t ASK for “likes,” comments, or shares.  Again, lame.

  1. Don’t take hours to return a text, unless there’s a good reason.

  1. If someone doesn’t text back right away, settle down.  It’s not a big deal.

  1. But . . . if you have time to post on Snapchat or Instagram, you have time to return a text.  So don’t get caught.

  1. You don’t have to leave a voice message.  Everyone has caller I.D.  So you can stop leaving message like, “Hey, it’s me.  Just calling to check in.”

  1. If someone asks you multiple questions via text, address all of them.  Don’t just reply to one part of the message.

  1. Don’t go on Facebook and post a bunch of cheesy quotes or memes back-to-back.

  1. It’s perfectly acceptable to just text “happy birthday” now.

  1. Don’t start so many group chats via text.  It’s insane how many times your phone goes off.  So half of the people in the group are just annoyed the whole time.

  1. Try not to deliver bad news through text or social media.  It’s the one time when face-to-face or a phone call is still the way to go.

Four Natural Ways to Get Better Sleep

If you haven’t been getting enough shut-eye lately, here are four things that are proven to help you sleep better . . .

  1.  Exercise.  Even if you work out in the evenings.  A new study had people do 30 minutes of high-intensity exercise a few hours before bed, and they were still able to fall asleep just fine.

  1.  Get some sunlight in the morning.  It helps your internal clock adjust, so you’ll get back to associating sunlight with waking hours, and darkness with sleep.

  1. Get more magnesium.  Either in pill-form, or from eating things like broccoli, spinach, kale, nuts and seeds.  It has calming properties that help you to sleep.

  1.  Turn down the thermostat.  There’s no single temperature that’s perfect for everyone.  But studies have shown that most people sleep best somewhere between 60 and 68 degrees.  That’s the sweet spot for producing the sleep hormone, melatonin.

JORDAN DAVIS CHARTS SECOND NUMBER 1, OFFERS UP SOME MARDI GRAS TIPS

Jordan Davis claims the Number One spot on the Mediabase country airplay chart this week with his second single “Take It From Me”. The track is featured on Jordan’s debut album, Home State, and was co-written by Jordan along with his brother, Jacob Davis, and Jason Gantt.

Jordan was recently in his home state of Louisiana to celebrate Mardi Gras and serve as the Grand Marshal for the Krewe of Centaur parade.

He’s experienced Mardi Gras pretty much every year of his life, so on this Fat Tuesday (March 5th), he’s got a lot of advice for those attending for the first time. Jordan tells us: [“My main piece of advice is everybody needs to experience New Orleans at least once. Another piece is just pace yourself. It is pretty much a month-long party, so just pace yourself, try to stay hydrated that’s not alcohol, have a blast and catch a bunch of beads. Sometimes you do have to show something but that’s not a necessary rule. Now, as a male, I’m okay with that rule but you don’t have . . . That’s not always what you have to do (laughs).”] SOUNDCUE (:34 OC: . . . have to do.)

Jordan continues on the Make It Sweet tour with headliner Old Dominion on Thursday (March 7th) in Pensacola, FL.

DAN + SHAY SURPRISE BRIDE AT WEDDING RECEPTION TO PERFORM ACOUSTIC HIT

It was no random event, though. According to Billboard, the surprise was planned with the help of Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings team, who worked with the bride’s father to make sure Dan + Shay’s appearance would remain a secret.

Dan + Shay will appear on NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers on March 11th where they will perform their latest single, “All To Myself.”

The duo recently earned six nominations for the 54th ACM Awards, tying as the most-nominated artist overall. The winners will be announced during the live CBS broadcast on April 7th.
