March 12, 2019 9:35 amWhen you think of where olive oil comes from there’s a good chance you think of Italy, which why it’s strange to think the country might be dealing with an olive oil shortage. Last fall the olive oil industry saw at 57 percent drop in production, a 25-year low, which means the amount of olive oil they have will only last Italian consumers four months this year. Money woes are the primary reason for declines in production, but extreme weather caused by climate change is expected to make things worse as olive trees are very sensitive to their environments.

TODAY’S GOOD NEWS
If you’ve ever tried to get a teenager up for school, you’ll appreciate this story: There’s a woman in Parsippany, New Jersey who’s been on dialysis for a while. And if she doesn’t go in for regular treatments, she could die.
One of her neighbors has been shoveling her driveway all winter to make sure she can get her car out. But he’s a paramedic and had to work when the last big snowstorm hit. So his little brother stepped up to help instead.
His name is Patrick Lanigan, and he’s a high school senior. He offered to wake up before school and shovel the driveway. But he knew it would take a while. So he was smart about it, and asked his friends for help.
Four of them ended up sleeping over at his house that night. Then they all got up at 4:30 in the morning, and knocked it out in about 30 minutes.
They were hoping school might get cancelled that day, so they could go back to bed. But no luck. Most of them didn’t sleep much, but they were all happy to help.
Patrick’s dad was so proud of them, he posted some photos on Twitter, and now they’re going viral.

Kristin Cavallari Says Firing People Makes Her Want to Throw Up
Kristin Cavallari isn’t scared to be the boss, but the job comes with its difficulties.
The Very Cavallari star recently revealed that although she doesn’t like firing people, she let her Uncommon James employee Shannon Ford go in the first episode of the show’s second season. “There’s nothing comfortable about firing somebody,”
Cavallari said. “I just fired my first person not that long ago and I honestly felt like I was going to throw up. I hate doing it. I haven’t had to do it that much — let’s just clear that up. But I have had to do a couple and it’s awful. It’s extremely difficult and I really want no part of it.” Cavallari, 32, is currently building her lifestyle brand, Uncommon James.

LADIES AND GERMS:
You know that nasty cold that it seems like you’ve been fighting with since the first frost?
The problem just might be your winter coat….and the rest of your outdoor wear.
A microbiologist says that you should clean any clothing that you wear in public at least once per week. Gloves, scarves, coats, and boots are all hotbeds for germs.
Not only can these articles harbor bacteria and viruses, but they can also be a mode for transmission and infection….even back to yourself. Experts recommend these tips when it comes to washing your winter wear:
- Gloves: wash them in hot water. If shrinkage is a concern, just put them in the dryer on high heat once per week.
- Coat: wash it a few times per season, and definitely before you store it in spring.
- Scarf: wash it once per week. If children are sharing them, wash them every day.
- Boots: clean the bottom with an antiseptic wipe at least once a week.

But she really struggled, and finally guessed “Doing headstands and BANDstands.”

The film, called The Friend, is currently filming in Fairhope, Alabama with a star-studded cast, including Jason Segel (How I Met Your Mother), Dakota Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey) and Academy Award-winning actor Casey Affleck (Manchester by the Sea).
The film is based on writer Matthew Teague’s award-winning essay, “The Friend: Love is Not a Big Enough Word,” a true-story account first published in the May 2015 issue of Esquire about his terminally ill wife and the support of his best friend, who moves into their home following the diagnosis.
This is Jake’s very first acting role.
Bradley Cooper Researched “A Star is Born” by Hanging Out with Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood
It’s hard to believe TRISHA YEARWOOD could be star-struck at this stage of the game. And yet, it happened when she met BRADLEY COOPER. It was back when she and GARTH BROOKS were doing their World Tour.
She tells “People”, quote, “We played in L.A., and Bradley stayed for the whole show. He was in research mode for ‘A Star Is Born’ and came backstage. Garth was like, ‘Wow, all the women suddenly want to be in the meet and greet.’
“What was so cool about that was he made you feel immediately comfortable. He was so nice. You just were like, ‘Wow, it’s so cool to meet somebody who’s doing so well. And you are a little star-struck.”
Garth and Trisha must have been a good study because the other star of the movie also showed up at one of their L.A. concerts. She adds, quote, “LADY GAGA came, and that was very cool.”
