On Today’s Show

A photo went viral the other day of a guy walking through Davenport, Iowa carrying a 50-pound catfish.  So he got fined for “noodling” it . . . meaning he caught it with his hands, which is illegal in Iowa.  He had to pay a $94 fine, and get a fishing license to avoid a bigger fine.  An official with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources talked to the local news about it, along with the guy.

If there’s one thing that EVERYONE should know by now, you CAN’T SMOKE on a plane.  And yet, that’s exactly what GRANT GUSTIN tried to get away with.

Grant is the star of “The Flash” on the CW . . . and on a flight from L.A. to Vancouver on Sunday, he went into the first class bathroom shortly after take-off, and started VAPING.

Smoke came out from under the door, and the alarm went off.  Witnesses say the smoke was so intense that it seeped into the cockpit . . . and the captain and co-pilot were forced to wear oxygen masks.

A flight attendant confronted Grant and confiscated his vape pen.  The plane wasn’t diverted, but Grant was detained by Canadian authorities after landing in Vancouver.  He got off with a warning though.

Grant hasn’t commented.  But someone on the plane said he admitted to vaping, and said he just, quote, “wanted to relax.”

ENTERTAINMENT

WOODY HARRELSON doesn’t give much thought to winning an Oscar.  In fact, when he was nominated in 2018, he voted for SAM ROCKWELL instead of himself.  He says, quote, “I feel like I got an award with my life.  What an award, to get this life.”

The first “Downton Abbey” film hasn’t even hit theatres yet, but a sequel seems to already be in the works.  The first film is due to be released later this year and will continue on from the show that ended in 2015. Show creator Julian Fellowes has revealed that there will be some type of happy ending in the film, “So a follow up is a possibility.”  A post on the official “Downton Abbey” Facebook page says “The doors to Downton Abbey will open once more on Friday, September 20, 2019

TODAY’S GOOD NEWS

19-year-old Joshua Caraway is a freshman at the University of West Georgia.  And he went to Miami Beach with a bunch of friends for spring break this year.

Now photos of him are going viral, because he spent a good chunk of his trip cleaning up TRASH.

He walked along the beach with a trash bag and gloves on, and picked up garbage other people had left behind.

A cop saw what he was doing and walked up to say thank you.  Then a local news station posted photos on Facebook, and they blew up online.

Joshua says he tried to get his friends to help him, and they acted like he was nuts.  But he did it himself anyway, because he loves animals and the environment.  And he wanted to leave the beach looking better than when they got there.

Supermarket Responds To Ghost Sightings

Ghosts don’t need to eat, so why would they hang out at a grocery store?

Market Basket supermarket in Wilmington, Massachusetts, was forced to declare itself “ghost-free” after a customer posted on Facebook that they had seen an apparition of a “Victorian-era woman” standing near the frozen peas.

The unidentified poster wasn’t the only person who claimed to see something ghostly at the store, either. Others in the Facebook group admitted to seeing a similar ghost there.

Market Basket has issued a statement saying they do not know of any haunting.

Things We’d Miss If We Travelled Back in Time

A new survey asked people to name the top things they’d MISS if they went back in time.

Obviously the top 10 are mostly tech-related.  But #1 caught us a little off-guard . . .

  1. Toilets that flush.  The toilets we use today have been around since the early 1900s.  So as long as you stuck with the 20th century, you’d be okay.
  2. The Internet.
  3. Central heating and air-conditioning.
  4. Televisions.
  5. Your smartphone.  We kind of expected that one to be a little higher up there.
  6. Cars.
  7. Being able to travel by plane.
  8. Supermarkets.
  9. Your laptop.
  10. Wi-Fi.  (Shouldn’t “friends and family” be somewhere on the list?)

UNHAPPY WIFE, CRAPPY LIFE:
Everyone has heard the term “Happy wife, happy life.”  And it’s true.

A study showed that a husband’s life satisfaction tended to be greater when his wife described their marriage as a happy one. But let’s take it a step further.

Another study found that if you have a happy spouse, chances are that you will live longer.  Why?  There are probably several logical explanations.  One is that when our spouse is happy, they are more likely to take care of us, especially in times of illness.  T

hey are also less likely to fight with us, thereby reducing our stress.  And another possible reason that people with happy partners tend to live longer is this:  Happy people tend to be more physically active.

And the more active our partner is, the more active we tend to be as well.

BRETT YOUNG OPTS FOR SLEEP OVER GAMBLING IN VEGAS – (04/03/2019)

Brett Young will be in Las Vegas this weekend for the ACM Awards, but you won’t necessarily find him hanging around the tables doing much gambling. Brett tells us that while he’s willing to put a little money on the line, he’s pretty careful. [“I like to gamble a little bit for the fun of it. When I gamble, I have X amount that I’m willing to lose as a part of the entertainment value. But no, I’m not in there to lose my shorts, so to speak, or try to win my mortgage. There’s never that much money on the table.  And in all honesty, I rarely gamble during an awards weekend. Usually there’s too much going on for me.  That means you’d have to stay up till 4:00am. to do it, and I need my sleep.”]

In addition to attending the ACM Awards, Brett will be performing as part of the ACM Stories, Songs and Stars event on Friday (April 5th) night, and at the ACM Awards Official After Party this Sunday (April 7th) night in Las Vegas immediately following the Awards. For more information, visit partyforacause.com.

FAST FACTS

Brett continues his headlining Ticket To L.A. tour with a show in Portland, OR tonight (Wednesday, April 3rd).

He joins Kelsea Ballerini’s Miss Me More tour beginning on April 11th in Salisbury, MD.

Kip Moore Is Finally Open to the Idea of Settling Down

KIP MOORE sure seems to enjoy being single.  He’s always doing those surfing trips half way around the globe . . . and then there’s the part about being a country star with no ball and chain to weigh him down.

But he turned 39 yesterday so somebody asked if he’ll ever be ready to quit the “bachelor lifestyle.”  Their words, not mine.

He said, QUOTE, “It’s not like I’m out doing really wild stuff.  It’s just that my focus has been so hyper-driven on the music that even when I’m off the road I’m always back in the studio writing and creating.

“I think that’s been a big thing ’cause I know that I couldn’t give somebody else that time.  And I’ve always been kind of a loner when I travel, and I like that so I knew that would make somebody angry so I’ve almost kept a wedge.”

Don’t lose heart those ladies.  Here’s your opening . . .  Quote, “But I’m changing.  I’m changing inside a little bit so I’m not saying that it’s happening tomorrow, but I can see it happening a little more now.”
