A study at the University of Oregon found that opening your shades in the morning and letting some sunlight in can kill HALF of the bacteria trapped in household dust.
Researchers found about 12% of the bacteria floating around in a darkened room is able to reproduce. But with the shades open, reproduction drops to about 6%.
A lot of the bacteria it kills is linked to certain respiratory diseases. So it might be even more important to open your blinds during flu season.
They still need to do more research to see how much it affects things like colds. But based on the findings, they say it definitely can’t hurt to let a little more light in.
And the added bonus is the extra sunlight can give you a boost in vitamin D.

ENTERTAINMENT
JEFF BRIDGES’ character ‘The Dude’ from “The Big Lebowski” was inspired by a guy named Jeff Dowd . . . and he’s been going through some major health problems over the past couple months. Jeff is 69. He had a double hernia surgery in February, and there were some complications, including a bad infection, which led to his kidneys not working. He spent a week in ICU, and almost died.
Fortunately, he’s on the mend now. But the medical bills have depleted his bank account . . . and a Go Fund Me has been set up for him, with a goal of $25,000.
By the way, Jeff’s real nickname IS ‘The Dude.’ He got the nickname back in the sixth grade from a few friends, and it stuck.

Oscar favourite Glenn Close is spearheading a new campaign to remake the 1980s thriller “Fatal Attraction”, only this time from the perspective of the character she played in the movie, Alex Forrest. Close says the timing is perfect to revisit the 1987 film, in which her character famously became obsessed with ruining the life of Michael Douglas’ cheating ‘Dan Gallagher’ after his attempts to break off their affair.

TODAY’S GOOD NEWS
Your ripped-up jeans with holes in the knees might LOOK cool. But can they do this? Two brothers from Germany recently took a job where they had to pick up a rich guy’s yacht in New Zealand, and sail it all the way to Brazil for him.
One of the brothers is 30-year-old Arne Murke. And they were off the coast of New Zealand last Wednesday when the main sail knocked him overboard. And he couldn’t get back to the boat.
His brother tried to toss him a life preserver, but he couldn’t reach it. Then a huge swell carried him out to sea.
But he was able to survive . . . by using his jeans as a FLOATATION DEVICE.
It’s a trick they teach in the Navy. First you take them off and tie the ends of the pantlegs together into a knot. Then you pull them up and over the water to trap air inside, and hold the waist closed with your hands.
Once there’s enough air in there, you can stick your head through the legs, and use your jeans like a life jacket to help you float and save energy. And if the air leaks out, you do it again.
Arne ended up floating around with his jeans around his neck for about three-and-a-half hours before the Coast Guard spotted him. And the sea was pretty rough, so they’re not sure he would have made it without his jeans.

YouTubers Cole & Sav Have Upset People Off With Their April Fools’ Joke On Their 6-Year-Old
YouTubers Cole and Savannah LaBrant are facing backlash for a video they posted in which they play a prank on their 6-year-old daughter Everleigh by telling her they were giving her puppy away.
If you don’t know who Cole and Sav are, here’s some background. The couple, who got married in 2017, each had their own vlogging careers before merging and creating a blog family empire under their channel, The LaBrant Fam.
That channel has 8.7 million subscribers on YouTube. Sav has 5 million Instagram followers, her husband has 4 million, Everleigh, Sav’s daughter from a previous relationship, has 4.3 million, and the couple’s 3-month-old daughter, Posie, has 1.1 million.
Even Everleigh’s puppy, Carl, has an impressive 759,000 Instagram followers.
On Monday, April Fools’ Day, the couple posted a video on their YouTube channel called “We Have to Give Our Puppy Away… Saying Goodbye Forever :(.”
The video is a normal vlog, until about 7 minutes in. It cuts to Everleigh face down on the couch, reacting to what Cole calls “sad news.”
He asks her if she wants to “tell the vlog,” but she refuses. Sav then says they have decided to “give Carl away to somebody else” because they are too busy to properly take care of him. Cole then says that Everleigh is really sad but they are going to let her “give him away, to whoever she wants.”
Everleigh shrugs when Cole asks her who she would give Carl to, and when he asks if she will miss him, she nods. During this, Sav starts to crack up.
Cole then says they have one more thing to tell Everleigh, and Sav whispers, “April Fools’!”
Everleigh then starts to cry again. “Too far?” Cole asks the camera.
Sav says that she didn’t think Everleigh was even going to believe her. Cole says he thought Everleigh was faking her reaction at first. The rest of the video is dedicated to “Everleigh’s Revenge,” where Everleigh pranks Cole in retaliation.
At the end of the video, Sav says if the prank “offended any of you guys, she’s OK.”
“She cried for like two minutes and she’s the happiest kid ever now, we prank each other all the time,” she said. However, some people online were angered by the video.

Want People to Stand Just Over Three Feet Away From Us When We Talk to Them
A new study asked people how FAR AWAY we want someone to stand when we’re having a conversation with them.
And the average answer was 3.11 feet, which is a little more than an arm’s length away.
The study also asked people in other countries, and our answer was right in the middle.
People in Romania want people the furthest away, at 4.56 feet, and Hungary is second, at 4.26 feet. I guess that fits the stereotype of Eastern European people just yelling at each other all the time . . . you’d need to talk loud at those distances.
South Americans seem the coolest with people getting close to them. People in Argentina only want you 2.5 feet away, and people in Peru averaged 2.6 feet.

HEALTH NEWS
As legalization of cannabis becomes more and more commonplace, it is also becoming more common for seniors in their 70s and 80s to add it to their list of activities, alongside things like golf and bingo.
Recent studies show that the 65-and-over crowd are the fastest-growing segment of cannabis users.
And while it is a fact that many of them used marijuana to get high in their youth, now they may be more interested in easing age-related afflictions such as arthritis and sleeplessness.
As an example, recently a group of about 50 seniors boarded a bus at a retirement community in Laguna Woods, California for a “field trip” to a local pot shop near Disneyland.
They spent much of the day choosing from a variety of cannabis-infused products, including candies, drinks and weed. Then, they stopped for a little bingo before heading home.

MAREN MORRIS COMPARES VIBE OF ACM AWARDS TO MTV VMA’S
Maren Morris is Las Vegas-bound for this weekend’s ACM Awards. She’s a nominee and a performer at this year’s show, and as Maren tells us, she loves the chill vibe of this particular industry event. [“It’s always so cool to be nominated and like just showing up, getting to perform, getting to walk the carpet, being a fan in the crowd, just watching performances will be a riot, and I love the ACMs cause they’re really laid back and it’s less like stiff, not that the CMAs are stiff, but it’s a lot more like the Oscars and then the ACMs are like the MTV VMAs “]
Maren is nominated for Female Artist of the Year, and she’ll perform her current single, “Girl,” in addition to hitting the stage with the Brothers Osborne.
The ACM Awards will air live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Sunday (April 7th) on CBS at 8 p.m.
BROTHERS OSBORNE APPRECIATE BEING ‘REWARDED’ BY PEERS AT AWARD SHOWS
Brothers Osborne could walk away with their third consecutive Vocal Duo of the Year award at the ACM Awards in Las Vegas on Sunday (April 7th). The Brothers also have three similar trophies from the CMA Awards, and while the pat on the back feels great, John Osborne tells us it’s more about getting a message of support from their peers in the industry. [“Winning awards, especially like that that’s voted on by your peers, it reminded us that we have the support of our community. You know, it’s easy to get wrapped up in your thing and stay in your bubble, and we work so hard. We spend a lot of time on the road, we spend a lot of time focusing on what we do that you don’t actually see the cumulative effects of all of the hard work you’re putting in, so when we do win it makes us feel great. It makes us feel a boost of confidence and it’s mostly the giant feeling of love we get from our community. It’s like, ‘Okay, well they’re rewarding us for us being ourselves and it’s okay for us to be ourselves,’ and we’ll just continue to do that.”]
Brothers Osborne are also nominated for Video of the Year for both “Shoot Me Straight” and “Burning Man” with Dierks Bentley, as well as Music Event of the Year for “Burning Man.”
Brothers Osborne will perform with Maren Morris live on the ACM Awards, airing on CBS beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
Dustin Lynch Wants to Hear the Truth About His Music, Even If It Hurts
DUSTIN LYNCH was asked if he’d like to eavesdrop on music industry people as they listen to his songs so he could hear their honest reactions. He said he absolutely would because he’s tired of them saying nice things to his face that they don’t really mean.
Quote, “The hardest thing in this business is people that blow smoke. Just tell us straight up what you want and what you don’t want, and we’ll try to do that. A lot of times people don’t want to hurt your feelings and they don’t want to tell you it sucks.”
