On Today’s Show
April 15, 2019 9:30 amAn Uber driver in San Francisco picked someone up and took them to the airport last Thursday. Then after he dropped them off, he went back . . . and tried to break into their HOUSE.
They had a doorbell cam that triggered an alarm when it detected him moving around. So he didn’t get in.
But then he went to a neighbor’s home down the street and DID get inside. He trashed the place and stole a bunch of stuff, including family heirlooms that date back to the Holocaust.
So cops tracked him down and recovered some of the stuff he stole. It’s not clear if they got the heirlooms back or not though.
Uber fired him, and he’s now facing burglary charges.

The dad was arrested for going over 100 miles an hour, and not having a valid driver’s license. By the time he got to the hospital, multiple police cars had been following him for miles. ENTERTAINMENT
“Hellboy” isn’t just a critical disaster . . . it was a commercial failure as well. It opened in third place with just $12 million. “Shazam!” held the top spot with $25.1 million, and the body-swapping comedy “Little” premiered in second.

Guy Placed a $100 Bet While He Was Blackout Drunk and Won $26,000
A guy from Minnesota named Derek Bergee was in Vegas last week, and got HAMMERED. He was hanging out at the Planet Hollywood casino, and drank so much he blacked out.
But he was still up around 7:00 A.M., and wanted to do some gambling. So he put $100 down on a CRAZY parlay bet that involved three different sporting events.
He placed two different bets on a huge underdog to beat the favorite in the NCAA hockey tournament. He bet they’d win, and placed another bet that the combined score would be six goals or less.
He also bet the Minnesota Timberwolves would beat the Golden State Warriors, which was unlikely. And he picked the Minnesota Wild to beat the Vegas Golden Knights in the NHL. And all four bets had to hit, or he’d lose the hundred bucks.
Right after he placed the bet, he went back to the Holiday Inn where he was staying, passed out, and missed all of the games. Then he woke up later . . . didn’t even remember placing the bet . . . and found out he’d won over 26 THOUSAND DOLLARS.
He says the casino told him it’s the biggest four-leg parlay win they’ve ever had.

TODAY’S GOOD NEWS
A 47-year-old woman in Fresno, California was about to jump off a bridge last Thursday. But luckily, 12 members of a middle school volleyball team were jogging by and saw her.
They were about 50 yards away when they saw her climb over the railing. So they ran back to get their coach and had him call 911. Then he told them to run back to the bridge and try to distract her.
By then, she was actually DANGLING from the bridge, and only holding on with one hand. So they all started chanting, “Stop, your life is worth it,” and kept talking to her for another ten minutes.
She eventually managed to pull herself back up, then police showed up. They put her on a 72-hour hold and got her some help.
The coach says she must have heard the kids yelling, and couldn’t bring herself to do it while they were watching. He thinks that’s the only reason she didn’t jump.

TIPPING
CNBC posted a video about how to save money at restaurants, and it got some people annoyed.
Because their big tip is . . . wait for it . . . tip less. Instead of tipping on the total, you tip on the amount before tax.
Which lots of people already do. But instead of tipping 20% on that subtotal, you use a different trick where you double the sales tax. Which varies depending on where you are, but it’s usually somewhere between 6% and 9%.
That ends up being a 12 to 18% tip on the subtotal. Here are some people on the street, and an etiquette expert.

CREATIVELY MULTI-TASKING:
Does your job require creative thinking? With several projects on the go at the same time? You might think it would be best to work on one project until you either finish or “hit a wall,” then work on the other one until it’s done or you hit a wall there.
However, according to a study by Columbia Business School, that’s not the way you should be going about things. They found that it’s better to schedule when you switch tasks — even if you feel like you haven’t hit a wall yet — to be the most creative you.
Scientists suggest that no matter how far you’ve progressed on an assignment, either set a timer, switch things up on the hour, or use meetings and lunch breaks to determine when you switch tasks.
No matter what creative endeavor you’re pursuing, whether as a hobby or as a professional effort, your idea-generation skills will benefit from regular breaks and changes of your focus.

Garth Brooks is Still Grateful for Having the “Coolest Gig on the Planet”
One of the most amazing things about GARTH BROOKS is how real he is . . . considering how famous he is. He was asked what he hopes his legacy will be, and he didn’t say winning awards, meeting presidents, or selling billions of records.
He wants to be known as someone who always appreciated and respected his fans. Quote, “I hope that the people who traveled all those miles, sat in the freezing cold at Notre Dame I hope the people that put in all the years know how grateful I was that they did it.”
He brought up his mom giving up her singing career to raise a family and said he was proud to fulfill her journey.
Then he added, quote, “[So] the opportunity that you put in front of me and my family. I hope that people know how grateful we are to get to do the coolest gig on the planet . . . next to being my daughters’ dad and being Mr. Yearwood, this is the coolest gig on the planet.”

RASCAL FLATTS’ GARY LEVOX’S DAUGHTERS ARE READY FOR THE ROAD – (04/10/2019)
Gary LeVox of Rascal Flatts has two teenage daughters who seem to love life on the road. Rather than opt to stay home to hang out with friends, Gary tells us his daughters, Brittany and Brooklyn, can’t wait to hit the road with their dad. [“They would live out here. They would make me work more, just because they don’t want to go home, they just want to ride the bus. They love it. And Brittany is a really, really good singer, really talented. So, she kind of looks at it and puts herself in my shoes. It’s kind of like homework for her. She can picture herself doing this, so it’s a lot of fun to have ‘em out.”]
Gary’s girls will have to wait until May when Rascal Flatts his the road on their Summer Playlist tour.
In the meantime, the group’s latest single, “Back to Life,” is climbing the charts.

DIERKS BENTLEY STARS ALONGSIDE HIS SON IN NEW ‘LIVING’ VIDEO – (04/15/2019)
Dierks Bentley has released the official music video for his new single “Living,” which was filmed in Nashville and stars his five-year-old son Knox. The father and son take on some of Music City’s fun-filled activities together like karate, go carts, puppies and a trampoline park.
Dierks said, “’Living’ certainly celebrates life’s big moments and adventures, but for me it’s even more about being intentional and present in everyday moments. Knox is at that age where he can still find the biggest joy in the smallest things, and that childlike appreciation for life is the spirit I wanted to bring to this video to remind us of difference between just being alive and actually ‘living.’”
“Living” follows up Dierks’ 18th career Number One and ACM award-winning hit “Burning Man.”
