The Oakland A’s have a minor league team in Vegas called the Aviators, and one of their biggest stars is . . . a dog.  I’m talking about “Finn The Bat Dog” and his job is to pick up stray bats and bring them to the dugout.

Well, Finn got cheated the other night when an umpire grabbed a bat that was on the field, and tossed it away just as Finn got there.  The fans HATED it and started booing like crazy.

Avengers: Endgame is set to drop this weekend, and the film will wrap up the plot lines for the Marvel Universe’s previous 22 films. It’s practically a given that “Avengers: Endgame” is going the break the all-time record for biggest opening weekend ever.  A record set by “Avengers: Infinity War”, by the way.

But some people actually think it could take in $1 BILLION worldwide.  Which seems INSANE . . . but it’s not as out-of-reach as you might think.

Last year, “Infinity War” opened with $257.6 million in the U.S., and $640 million internationally.  That’s just shy of $900 million.

“Endgame” should beat both of those totals.  But by a combined $100 million?  I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

TODAY IS……………….

  • “Red Hat Day”, an annual celebration of the ‘Red Hat Society’, begun in 1997 as a social organization for women over 50 and to reshape the way they’re viewed. There are now millions of women who attend various ‘RHS’ events worldwide.

  • “Telephone Day”, call someone and wish them “Happy Telephone Day”. They’ll probably hang up on you.

  • “World Penguin Day”, marking the annual northward migration of penguins which happens each year on or around this day. Penguins do not fly. They walk. More of a waddle, actually.

TODAY’S GOOD NEWS

If you haven’t seen this photo yet, the story behind is it pretty great . . .

A guy named Jamario Howard was at a barbecue joint in Oxford, Alabama last week with two of his friends.  They all look like they’re in their 20s or early 30s.

And he noticed an elderly lady at another table, eating dinner by herself.  So he went over and asked if he could sit with her.

Her name is Eleanor.  She told him she was alone because her husband passed away.  And the next day would have been their 60th anniversary.

So at that point, Jamario invited her to come sit at HIS table with his friends.  And she got all excited.

Now a photo of all four of them sitting together is making the rounds online.

Jamario says he just thought about how he’d hate it if he had to eat alone.  And he hopes it inspires more people to do something kind.  Adding, “You never know what [other people] are going through.”

FOLD-PAS:
If you were really looking forward to shelling out $2,000 for a smartphone that will fold in half, you’ll be disappointed to hear that Samsung has delayed the planned Friday launch of their new Galaxy Fold.

It seems that reviewers who had received samples of the foldable smartphone ran into a variety of problems. Some reported troubles with the hinge system that resulted in screen failures.

Other reviewers mistook the top protective layer of the display as a removable screen protector and tried to remove it, also resulting in non-functioning displays. Samsung says that they will run more tests and announce a new launch date “in the coming weeks”.

With such a big price tag, The Galaxy Fold wasn’t expected to be a huge seller, but some hoped that it would add some sizzle to the smartphone industry, which hasn’t seen much in the way of revolutionary advances in recent years.

THE PINK MOON

April’s full moon is sometimes called a pink moon, but anyone who looks up at the sky expecting to see a moon that’s actually rosy will be sorely disappointed.

For all the attention being lavished on the pink moon — questions like “What time will the moon be pink tonight?” are trending online and there’s even a #pinkmoon hashtag on social media — the moon looks no different this month than in any other.

Pink Moon is just a nickname — a reference to moss pink, or wild ground phlox, whose pinkish flowers are among spring’s earliest flowers.

A full moon occurs when its surface facing Earth is fully illuminated by sunlight, creating a bright disk. That happens when the moon, Earth and the sun are aligned, with Earth positioned between the moon and the sun.

The next full moon will be May 18. That one’s nicknamed the full flower moon.

THOMAS RHETT ON TIPS WHEN VISITING NASHVILLE

With the weather heating up, downtown Nashville and surrounding areas will soon become packed with tourists trying to experience Music City.  As someone who grew up in the Nashville area and now lives there with his family, Thomas Rhett has a few suggestions for people looking to make the most of their vacation in Nashville. He tells us: [“Now, I would say that every artist that you love has their own bar now. So basically, pick your favorite artist and go to their bar.  Go watch your artists that you love in a different facet. If they’re doing a writer’s round, like that’s always interesting to me to go watch my favorite artists go play stripped down.  And we’re starting to get some of the best food in America right now, so go eat some Hattie B’s I guess.”]

Thomas’ latest song, “Look What God Gave Her,” is currently flying up the charts, as he prepares to release his brand new album, Center Point Road, on May 31st.

FAST FACTS

Thomas’ Very Hot Summer tour kicks off on May 2nd in Saskatoon, SK with special guest Dustin Lynch.

OLD DOMINION NEW ALBUM

Old Dominion has been hard at work on their third studio album, tentatively due out later this year. Lead singer Matthew Ramsey tells us that this project will likely be a game-changer for the band. [“You know, we just hope to put out this next album, which feels very special to us and we’re all very excited about and very proud of and see where that takes us because I do think it can take us somewhere much bigger and different.”]

Old Dominion recently took home their second consecutive ACM Group of the Year award.

They continue on their headlining Make It Sweet arena tour with special guests Mitchell Tenpenny and Jordan Davis.

FAST FACTS

Old Dominion recently added some overseas dates to their Make It Sweet tour this fall.

MAREN MORRIS’ ‘GIRL’ LEFT HER FEELING ‘EXPOSED’ – (04/25/2019)

Maren Morris had mixed feelings about releasing her latest hit, “Girl,” as a single from her sophomore album of the same name. She co-wrote the song, which Maren tells us left her feeling expecially vulnerable. [“When I was writing that song I felt like . . . I felt very exposed but once I took a breath and accepted that I needed to get this out to move on and progress and finish the album it was very clear that it had single potential to me because I needed to keep saying it to myself and I thought, ‘If I need to hear this maybe a lot of other people do too right now.'”]

Maren continues on her Girl: The World Tour with special guest RaeLynn tonight (Thursday, April 25th) in Pittsburgh. Maren’s Instagram page recently reached one million followers.
