Three thieves broke into a medical center in Pennsylvania on Saturday and stole $450,000 worth of COLONOSCOPY equipment.  The cops are trying to track them down . . . and they aren’t sure what the thieves are planning because, quote, “This isn’t something that a typical pawn shop might accept.”

They say it’s the first time they’ve seen someone steal a bunch of colonoscopy equipment . . . and they aren’t sure what the thieves plan to do with it.

A new study had people who were depressed listen to different types of music.

And they preferred sad songs over happy ones.  But it’s not because they just wanted to wallow in their own misery. It turns out listening to sad music when you’re sad can actually make you HAPPIER.

People in the study had to listen to different songs that were either sad, neutral, or happy.  And they tended to prefer slow, sad songs, like “Adagio for Strings”  from the movie “Platoon” . . . which is one of the saddest songs ever. Then researchers had them listen to the same songs later on.  And again, the sad songs made them feel the happiest.

It’s not totally clear why that’s the case.  But the researchers think it’s because listening to happy, uplifting music can be IRRITATING when you’re feeling down.

ENTERTAINMENT

“Avengers: Endgame” was even bigger than expected . . . delivering a massive $350 MILLION debut at the box office this weekend.  It also made $1.2 BILLION worldwide.  Both those numbers SHATTER the previous records, which were both set my “Avengers: Infinity War” last year.

The 22 movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe have now grossed over $19.8 billion worldwide, and NINE of them have topped $1 billion at the global box office.

A 21-year-old woman in China was hospitalized for uncontrollable CRYING after she saw “Avengers: Endgame” over the weekend.

A guy in Hong Kong walked out of a screening, and started LOUDLY revealing spoilers while people were waiting in line to see it.  So several fans stepped out of line to BEAT HIM UP.  And there’s a photo of him being treated by medical staff.

Fans with smart watches have been posting screenshots of their heart rates SPIKING during the movie.  We’ve seen as high as 180 beats per minute.

NFL running back LESEAN MCCOY made NO friends on social media over the weekend, when he started Tweeting SPOILERS for “Avengers: Endgame”.  He apparently didn’t realize that all 730,000 of his followers WEREN’T able to see it on opening night . . . and would rather NOT know what happens.

TODAY’S GOOD NEWS

A 59-year-old guy near Omaha, Nebraska was having heart palpitations at work last week.  And an ambulance took him to a hospital.

It was about a 20-minute drive.  And at one point, his heart rate was dangerously high . . . about 200 beats per minute.

But luckily he’s okay, because the ambulance hit a giant POTHOLE in the road.  And it jolted his heart back into a normal rhythm.

It basically did what those electric paddles do when they shock your heart into rhythm.  And it’s rare, but stuff like this has happened before.

Back in the late ’70s, the same thing happened when someone’s heart got jolted into rhythm by a speedbump.

His doctors wouldn’t reveal much else.  But apparently pothole guy only spent a day or two in the hospital.  And he’s already back home.

Three Easy Ways to Make Better Coffee at Home

If you want to save some money here’s 3 easy ways to make better coffee at home . . .

  1. Use better water.  If you don’t like the taste of your tap water on its own, don’t use it for coffee either.  Especially if you have hard water, or use a water softener.  Investing in bottled water, or using a Brita can make your coffee taste a lot better.

  1. Grind your own beans.  Pre-ground coffee gets stale really fast.  So it isn’t as fresh and has a lot less flavor.  Even if whole beans cost a little more, it might be worth it.  You can get a cheap electric grinder on Amazon for 10 or 20 bucks.

  1. Make sure you’re adding to the flavor, not just diluting it.  One mistake people make is using skim milk instead of whole milk or creamer.  Low-fat milk is a little more watery, and doesn’t add much to the taste.

Whole milk has more calories, but you’re not using very much.  One ounce of skim has about 10 calories, compared to 18 for whole milk.

Just Looking at a Cup of Coffee Can Help Wake You Up

If you’re trying to cut back on the ungodly amount of coffee you drink, maybe this will help:  You don’t need to DRINK it to get the benefits . . . you just need to SEE it.

According to a new study out of the University of Toronto, if you just LOOK at a cup of coffee in the morning, it’ll help wake you up.

And the researchers say it’s thanks to the psychological connection we have between drinking coffee and being more alert.  Those two things are SO tied together in our minds that just seeing coffee makes our brains perk up.

Pricey Alarm Clock Brews Coffee at Wake-Up Time

A British company’s unusual alarm clock is designed to make waking up a little easier by brewing users their first cups of coffee for the day. The Barisieur alarm clock, which made its debut at this year’s CES exhibition, features the standard elements of an alarm clock plus the option to have it brew a single cup of coffee or tea.

The device includes a cooled chamber to store milk or cream until it is dropped into the cup by the mechanism. The alarm clock, which features a design inspired by a vinyl record player, currently carries a hefty price tag — $445.

Three Foods That Can Keep You Up at Night

You probably know that drinking alcohol can mess with your sleep.  It might help you PASS OUT, but it messes with your REM sleep.  So you wake up feeling less rested.

But if you haven’t been sleeping well, you also might want to be careful about what you EAT right before bed.  Here are three foods you might need to stay away from . . .

  1. Fruits and vegetables.  Especially ones that contain a lot of water, like melons and cucumbers.  They can cause you to wake up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, just like chugging a big glass of water before bed.

  1. Simple starches, like bread, potatoes, and rice.  They can make you feel tired and help you fall asleep.  But then they cause your blood sugar to spike, which can disrupt your sleep.

  1. Bad fats from things like fried foods and butter, which tend to give you the worst sleep.  A Mediterranean diet filled with GOOD fats has been linked to less insomnia.  That means less red meat, more fish and nuts.

CARRIE UNDERWOOD HAD HARD TIME WRITING FEMALE PARTY SONG – (04/26/2019)

Carrie Underwood‘s brand new single is called “Southbound,” and she co-wrote it for her current Cry Pretty album. She sat down with her producer, David Garcia, and Josh Miller and went to work, although she tells us it wasn’t easy. [“I had the title. I was like, ‘This sounds like fun, I think. We can do something fun with this,’ but then you realize how tricky for some reason it is to be a woman and write like kind of a drinking, party, boat song. It’s strange. You wouldn’t think it would be any different, but I’m like for some reason I feel like a guy could get away with saying this line that we just threw out there, but I can’t for some reason. It surprisingly took us a while to write it but by the end of it, it was like, ‘Well, this is a lot of fun.’ I feel like everybody kind of gravitated towards that one when we were all done with it.”] SOUNDCUE (:32 OC: . . . done with it.)

Carrie debuted “Southbound” earlier this month live on the ACM Awards, where she was joined by Maddie & Tae and Runaway June, the opening acts on her upcoming Cry Pretty 360 tour.

The tour launches on Wednesday (May 1st) in Greensboro, North Carolina.

A couple got married in the baggage claim of the Cleveland airport on Saturday.  They met there 12 years ago, in April of 2007, when the girl was asked by her boss to pick the guy up at the airport.  They have two kids together, but never formalized things until now.  So they had 125 guests at the airport, and Southwest Airlines shut down baggage claims six and seven so they could do the ceremony and reception.

Justin Moore Wishes His Kids Didn’t Like His Music So Much

Well this is a switch.  We’re used to country stars talking about how their kids would rather listen to anything OTHER than their music.  It’s just the opposite for JUSTIN MOORE.

He says, QUOTE, “One thing that they’re into that I wish they weren’t, music wise . . . is me.”

The main reason is because he’d like to hear something different when he’s hanging around the house.

He was spending the day at his pool with his two daughters and they started blasting his “Kinda Don’t Care” album through the Bluetooth speakers.  What’s he going to do . . . leave?

Quote, “So we had to listen to the entire album in the pool and it’s just me.  I’m like, ‘I would really rather listen to somebody else than me.'”

I wonder if he’ll still feel that way on July 26th when he releases his new album, “Late Nights and Longnecks”.

BLAKE SHELTON ATTENDS ‘UGLYDOLLS’ PREMIERE WITH GWEN STEFANI & HER KIDS –

Blake Shelton attended the premiere of his latest animated feature film, UglyDolls, on Saturday (April 27th) in Los Angeles with girlfriend Gwen Stefani and her three sons in tow. The kids range in age from five to 12.

Blake portrays Ox, the one-eyed Mayor of Uglyville, in the film. Blake also sings “Wallflower and Weeds” for the movie’s soundtrack.

Blake said, “It’s a rare thing for Gwen and (me) to even get out at all. We don’t really get a chance to do anything. One of the two of us are working or the kids are in school — it just never works out for us to all go out. We get to do it about four or five times a year — this is one of them.”

He’s supposed to make a “big announcement” today (Monday, April 29th) at noon involving Luke Bryan, according to his post yesterday (Sunday, April 28th) on Instagram.
