There’s a small coffee chain in California called Klatch Coffee Roasters.  And they just made news by selling coffee . . . for $75-a-cup.

The coffee is made from one of the rarest coffee beans in the world.  The beans come from Panama and cost a world record $803 PER POUND.  Klatch bought 10 pounds . . . the only 10 available in the U.S.  That allowed them to make exactly 80 cups of coffee and apparently, they sold out almost immediately.

Then again, that’s not even the most expensive cup of coffee you can get in Los Angeles.  There’s one coffee shop that sells $100 cups of coffee made from beans that have been eaten and pooped out by an animal called the Asian palm civet.

Someone on Twitter asked the question, “Do you wash your legs when you take a shower?”  And after close to a million votes, the results are . . . one in five people DON’T wash their legs.  But don’t worry . . . a dermatologist says it’s not really necessary unless they’re “visibly soiled.”  And the runoff of soap and water from washing your upper body are enough.

Ellen asked Taylor Swift about the leg-washing poll yesterday, and Taylor said she does wash her legs . . . because she shaves them every single day.

Four Ways Caffeine Is Good for You

A new study found that more than five cups of coffee a day is bad for your heart.

Which is a LOT of coffee.  But as long as you’re drinking five cups or less, you should be okay.  And it can actually be good for you.

  1. In moderation, it might be GOOD for your heart.  Previous studies have found that three to four cups of coffee a day can lower your risk for heart disease and stroke.

  1.  It helps with pain.  Especially if you pair it with a painkiller.  Research shows that taking ibuprofen with a cup of coffee works better than ibuprofen alone.  It can help with headaches, menstrual cramps, and even pain after you’ve had surgery.

  1. It can improve your memory.  A study in 2015 found that drinking coffee every day can give you a memory boost.  And studies with mice suggest it could even help you avoid Alzheimer’s.

  1. Caffeine may lower your risk for certain cancers.  Four or five cups a day has been shown to help people with colon cancer, and colorectal cancer.  And a 26-year study by the American Cancer Society found it could also cut your oral cancer risk in half.

RANDOM REPORT

  1. Approximately 64% of people in the U.S. have never left the country and traveled abroad.

  1. Baker’s chocolate wasn’t always just for baking.  “Baker’s” is a brand, named after Dr. James Baker, who started importing beans and making chocolate in the 1760s.  Eventually Kraft bought it and made it baking chocolate only, to avoid confusion.

  1. It costs $6 to visit Karl Marx’sgrave in London . . . which is ironic, since he’s the most famous critic of capitalism in history.

  1. A full head of hair is strong enough to support approximately 24,000 pounds.  One strand can support three ounces.

TODAY’S GOOD NEWS

A guy from Florida named Austin Tatman was best friends with a girl named Natalie when they were little kids.

They were constantly together until they were five.  Then she moved to Connecticut.  And for over a decade, they never saw each other or talked.

But then in high school, Natalie tracked Austin down on social media, and they started talking again . . . then started DATING.

Now they’re both 24 years old.  And last month . . . almost seven years after reconnecting . . . they got MARRIED.

They say it only took two dates to realize they really liked each other.  And after that, they were inseparable again.

Their ceremony was at a venue near Daytona Beach.  And in their wedding photos, they recreated an old picture they took as kids.

In the original, they were standing up in Austin’s toy Jeep Wrangler Power Wheel.  So they took the same photo, but in a real Jeep.

A Woman Sued the Lottery Because She Didn’t Realize How Hard It Was to Win

A woman named Martha Karras from Quebec, filed a class-action lawsuit against Quebec’s lottery.  Why?  Because she says they never made it clear just how hard it would be to WIN.

Martha says she’s been buying lottery tickets for the past 20 years and never knew JUST how much the odds were stacked against her.

So she sued the lotto because she claimed they never informed her of the real chances of winning, and they never put the odds anywhere on the tickets.

Unfortunately for Martha, a court rejected her lawsuit on Thursday.  And the main reason was . . . the odds of winning actually WERE printed on every ticket.

INNOCENT HABITS THAT ARE RUINING YOUR SLEEP AT NIGHT:
➠ Brushing your teeth right before bed: The bright light of the bathroom, combined with the refreshing taste of your toothpaste might give you a second wind when you should be winding down.  Try brushing earlier.

➠ Checking Facebook one last time:  Experts recommend turning electronics off two hours before bed, in order not to expose yourself to “blue light” which can cause your brain to believe you should be awake.

➠ Cranking the heat:  Your body cools down at night, so keeping your bedroom toasty can confuse it into thinking it’s still early. Most experts recommend keeping your bedroom around 65°F (17°C). (The “expert” that I share a room with prefers it to be a little closer to 85, I think!)

➠ Coffee in the afternoon:  Or tea, or pop.  Caffeine stays in your system longer than you’d think.  While it doesn’t apply to everyone, for many, it’s best to lay off after lunch.

➠ Eating late:  It can make your body put more energy into digestion than into sleeping soundly.

MIDLAND IS ‘PUTTING THE FINAL TOUCHES’ ON SOPHOMORE ALBUM – (05/13/2019)

Midland is wrapping up work on their sophomore album, more than a year and a half since the release of their debut project, On The Rocks. The guys are anxious for fans to hear the new stuff, which Cameron Duddy tells us represents quite a bit of growth. [“We’re putting the final touches on it. We’ve learned a lot from our first album. Shoot, when we did “Drinkin’ Problem” single, that was like three years ago. So we’ve grown a lot, put a lot of miles on the road, and learned a lot of things about our live show, and that influenced a lot of decisions that we made on the album, and wanted to make it fresh, but it’s still Midland. It’s all of us playing all our songs. I think one big difference that we hope you can hear is a cohesion in the band. We had our band play on the album this time, our road band, the guys that we spend every waking hour together. We’ve got a musical connection that we wanted to capture on the album. So in those ways it’s changed for the better, for sure.”]

Midland’s next album will be released later this year
