A councilmember in Washington wants to let people give each other parking tickets, using their phones.  He says it’s to protect the public from people who block bike lanes, fire hydrants, and crosswalks.  But not everyone thinks it’s a good idea.

A 27-year-old guy named Jessie Dean Kowalchuk has been wanted in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada for almost four years on three outstanding warrants.

Well . . . last December, a Kamloops website posted about him in their weekly “Most Wanted” segment.  And they told people in the area to keep an eye out for him.

But Jessie messaged them on Facebook, and said, quote, “News flash, morons: I’m in Edmonton and not coming back.”

So they let the local cops know . . . and they contacted the police in Edmonton.

They’ve kept an eye out for him ever since . . . and last week, they found him and arrested him.

This Sunday is the big “Game of Thrones” series finale . . . and Monday is a holiday but don’t be surprised if you’re short-handed at work.

Because according to a new poll, 10.7 MILLION people are gonna skip work, either by calling in sick or using a last-minute vacation day.

But the big question remains:  Will those who watch Sunday’s finale be satisfied . . . or OUTRAGED?  The petition to redo Season 8 with COMPETENT WRITERS passed 700,000 signatures last night . . . and now they’re shooting for a MILLION.

Sophie Turner was on The Tonight Show and blamed Emilia Clarke for the coffee cup that ended up in that “Game of Thrones” episode.

TODAY’S GOOD NEWS

If you’re planning to eat-and-drink your way through Victoria Day weekend, this might help with the guilt . . .

A new study found our bodies actually bounce back fairly quickly after a big day of gluttony.  And occasional overeating probably won’t cause long-term issues.  But that doesn’t mean you can overindulge EVERY weekend.

Researchers had people overeat for five straight days to simulate how you might act around a big holiday weekend.  Each person added 1,000 calories a day to their diet.  And it turns out our bodies are pretty good at coping with it.  Because it didn’t have any significant long-term effects on metabolism or insulin levels.

Here’s the catch though:  All the volunteers were YOUNG people who were in decent shape.  So it’s not clear how an overweight 50-year-old body responds.

The researchers also don’t want us to use this as an excuse to overeat all the time.  Because they also had volunteers increase their calorie intake for a full month.  And that DID affect things like weight and insulin response.

But if you normally exercise and eat healthy, they say you shouldn’t feel too guilty about cheat days, or eating more around the holidays.

GAME OF HOMES:
There’s another Alberta house that could be yours for the “write” price.

That’s “write” as-in “write” an essay. After Alla Wagner found she wasn’t getting any offers on her home valued at $3 million in Millarville, she came up with a contest late last year in which she asked people to write her a letter detailing how owning the home could change their lives.

She set an entry fee at $25 and hoped to receive 65,000 entries to cover her investment in the house. The plan is to pick a winner in July. Now, a couple in Cardston is doing the same thing.

Marsha and Ivan Negrych have been trying to sell their bed and breakfast for more than a year without any strong offers, so they are holding their own essay-writing contest for their $1.7 million, 7,000-square-foot property, “The Cobblestone Manor,” which is designated as an Alberta Historic Resource.

Their contest started this month, and runs until October 31.

The Three Most Effective Exercises That Don’t Require Equipment

Two big excuses for not working out are:  “I don’t have time,” and “gyms cost too much.”  But those aren’t great excuses, because you don’t need those things to get in shape.

According to an expert with the American Council on Exercise, here are the three most effective exercises that don’t require any equipment . . .

  1. Burpees.  You start in a standing position . . . drop down and do a push-up . . . then pop back up . . . jump with your hands above your head . . . and repeat.  It works your chest, arms, shoulders, core, hips, legs AND butt.

  1. Mountain Climbers.  You start in a plank position, like you’re about to do a push-up.  Then you bring one knee to your chest, alternate legs, and basically act like you’re running in place.  Again, it hits a bunch of muscles at once.  And it’s good cardio.

  1. Turkish get ups.  This one’s harder and you’d need to practice.  But basically, you start on your back, with one hand pointed at the ceiling.  Then without letting it drop, you roll onto your side . . . plant one foot on the ground . . . and rise to your feet.

Once you get good, you can do it with a weight in one hand.  But you don’t need one when you’re just starting out.  It’s a good workout for your shoulders and core, and for stabilizing muscles in your back and hips.

Luke Bryan has tapped Jason Aldean to headline one of the four nights on his 2020 Crash My Playa annual destination event taking place January 22-25 in the Riviera Cancun region of Mexico. Luke will headline two nights during the all-inclusive concert vacation. This will be Jason’s first appearance at Crash My Playa. An additional headliner and all special guests will be announced soon.

[“Crash My Playa is the most enjoyable things I’ve ever done in my career. To get to go down in Mexico, get a good suntan on and go sing your music and just have a big onstage party. The beauty of having Jason is the night he’s on stage, I can crash the stage and vice versa. He and I can play some old songs he and I used to play when we were on tour together there. So, it’ll be real, real organic and authentic up there, and it’s just gonna be fun hanging with Jason in Mexico, and I’m so glad he signed on to be a part of it.”]

Next year’s Crash My Playa will be hosted at a new location, The Moon Palace Golf and Spa Resort in Riviera Cancun, Mexico. The public on sale is Wednesday, May 22nd at 1 p.m. ET at  crashmyplaya.com.

LADY ANTEBELLUM RELEASE NEW SINGLE, VIDEO TODAY – (05/17/2019)

Lady Antebellum releases their brand new song, “What If I Never Get Over You,” today (Friday, May 17th), as well as the new video. The trio did not write the song, but Charles Kelley tells us he and others won’t have a problem relating to the lyrics. [“So, ‘What If I Never Get Over You’ is definitely about that feeling, you know, I think right after you break up, there’s that moment that whether you were the one that did the breaking up or got broken up with, that you wonder if you’ll ever find that same connection and love.  And I know I felt like that before.  Before I met Cassie I had a longtime girlfriend, and I mean, it was years of feeling that, ‘am I ever gonna find anyone like her?  Was that the one?  And I think that’s why it is kind of a universal message, and that’s what this is about.”]

“What If I Never Get Over You” is the first single from Lady Antebellum’s new album. There’s no word yet on when that project will be released.

Lady A returns to the stage of the Pearl Concert Theater at The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas tonight and tomorrow night (Saturday, May 18th) for their Our Kind of Vegas residency.
