A TV station in Scranton, Pennsylvania has a segment on the news where people can call in and give their opinions . . .
And last week, one of their callers had a theory on why we’re seeing more TORNADOES now than we used to.
Quote, “We didn’t have tornadoes here until we started putting in the traffic circles . . . You wanna know why? When people go round and round in circles, it causes disturbance in the atmosphere, and causes tornadoes.”
For what it’s worth, there’s no scientific proof that people driving in circles causes tornadoes.

First “Animal Left in a Hot Car” Story of the Year Features a . . . Pet Pig?
Security guards at a mall in Jacksonville, Florida were patrolling the parking lot last week when they saw an animal moving around in a locked car. And that animal was . . . someone’s PET PIG.

Apparently the security guards aren’t allowed to break the windows, so eventually they called the cops. And when the cops couldn’t find the owners, they broke the window to get the pig out.

It had been in the hot car for over an hour and was in BAD SHAPE. Fortunately they had a bucket handy, filled the entire thing up, and got the pig re-hydrated.

The pig’s owners eventually showed up . . . and 20-year-old Mark Gray and 19-year-old Trinity Tavarez-Soto were arrested for animal cruelty.

Animal care and protective services has custody of the pig. It’s not clear why Mark and Trinity had a full-size pig as a pet or why they brought it to the mall.

TODAY’S GOOD NEWS
There’s a guy in Austin named David Carter who’s in his mid-60s. And he’s been homeless off-and-on for the last few decades. But he’s a very smart guy.

He was a student at the University of Texas until he dropped out in 1975. Since then, he’s struggled with addiction . . . schizophrenia . . . and he’s had to beg for money just to get by.

But late last year, a journalism student named Ryan Chandler interviewed him for an assignment on homelessness in Austin. Then his piece got published, and the school’s official alumni newspaper also did as story on him.

And now, 44 years after David dropped out . . . Ryan is helping him go BACK to college.

They tracked down David’s old transcripts and found out he’s 64 credit hours away from a Fine Arts degree . . . which is roughly a year’s worth of classes. So Ryan petitioned the school to let him back in. And last month, they DID.

Ryan and David were hoping to get a grant to cover his tuition. But then an anonymous alumni member came forward, and THEY offered to pay. He’s majoring in studio art.

Germiest Spot in Your Car Isn’t Your Steering Wheel
If you had to name the most germ-covered spot in your car, what would you guess?

The number one answer in a recent survey was the steering wheel. Followed by the driver’s side door handle, and the gear shifter.

But if you guessed any of those, you’re WRONG. They’re not even in the top three.
Researchers did a series of swab tests. And the spot that actually has the most germs is . . . your driver’s side FLOOR MAT. Yes, floors are gross.

The average floor mat had about three times more bacteria, yeast, and mold growing on it than on the average steering wheel.

The second germiest spot was the front seat cup holder, followed by the inside of the trunk. And dashboard air vents were fourth.

When dog owners go through a stressful period, their dogs feel it too.
A study says dog owners experiencing long bouts of stress can transfer it to their dogs.

Researchers examined hair from the dog owners and their dogs, looking at the concentrations of the stress hormone cortisol.

The team found that the patterns of cortisol levels in the hair of dog owners closely matched that found in their dogs in both winter and summer months, indicating their stress levels were in sync.

1. NBA
The Golden State Warriors won Game Five of the NBA Finals last night, 106 to 105. The Toronto Raptors had a chance to win it all at the end, but their last shot didn’t fall. KEVIN DURANT returned, but he only played 12 minutes before suffering yet another injury. He left the game in the second quarter and didn’t return.
Toronto still leads the series 3-2. Game Six is Thursday in Oakland, and if the Warriors can win that one, then they come back to Toronto for Game Seven on Sunday. So, the Warriors are still fighting an uphill battle.

The latest on the DAVID ORTIZ shooting includes: His assistant saying he was shot by a hired gun . . . the British tabloids claiming it could’ve been over an affair.
The Red Sox sent an “air ambulance” to pick up David and bring him back to Boston for additional medical treatment. He arrived last night.
There were reports that the bullet miraculously missed all his major organs . . . but that’s only partially true. Doctors had to remove his gallbladder and part of his intestine. His liver and small intestine were also damaged.

2. • “Captain Marvel” (PG-13, Action/Adventure): (Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn)

• “Five Feet Apart” (PG-13, Drama/Romance): A pair of teenagers with cystic fibrosis meet in a hospital and fall in love, though their disease means they must avoid close physical contact.

3. There was an earthquake outside Cleveland yesterday morning. Not something they get very often there, so a lot of people called 911. Helpful note: The number one thing people do wrong when there’s an earthquake is clog 911 with the question, “Was there just an earthquake?” Unless there’s an emergency situation, don’t do it.

4. A vaper on a plane, Justin Beiber challenges Tom Cruise to fight, and the Chris Pratt/Katherine Schwarzenegger wedding. (From “Conan”, “Jimmy Kimmel Live”, and “The Tonight Show” on Monday, June 10, 2019)

KANE BROWN IS AMONG GUESTS ON CHRIS YOUNG’S NEW ALBUM
Chris Young’s upcoming album will feature several guests, including his labelmate Kane Brown. Chris shared a short clip of Kane in the studio on social media writing, “When you aren’t at home and @kanebrown_music tracks his part on your new record.”
The other guests remain a secret, information Chris has kept under wraps. What he will tell us, however, is that this new Raised On Country album takes first place as his career favorite. He tells us: [“I think it’s my favorite album as a whole. Everything’s on there. There’s so many different thoughts. There’s so many different ideas, things that I have said before, things that I haven’t said before. Probably the thing that’s on there the least is love songs. There are a couple outside songs that I fell in love with. There’s a lot of guests on this record that nobody really knows about yet. I really do think this is the best record I’ve ever made.”]
Raised On Country will be Chris’ eighth studio album. No release date has yet been announced.

GARTH BROOKS MAKES SURE EVERY FAN IN STADIUM FEELS HIS ‘GRATITUDE’
Garth Brooks continues to expand his Stadium Tour. Last week, he announced the first show outside the U.S. – an August 10th concert at Mosaic Stadium in Regina, Saskatchewan.
This is Garth’s first all-stadium concert tour, and he admitted early on that he had to adjust to playing for such large crowds. He tells us he’s found a way to make sure he connects with every fan. [“It’s the same kind of leap you had in your mind in the early ‘90s when you went from honky-tonks to arenas. You’re scared to death they’re not going to be personal, they’re not going to be warm. You’re scared to death that those people that bought that ticket way up in the corner are not going to be happy. You’re scared to death of that. So what you do is you get out there and you walk that stadium. You sit in those seats, and you realize you have to make sure these people see that you see them. And they see your gratitude.”]
At the request of Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe, Garth Brooks has added a second concert in Regina, SK. The second concert will be held on Friday, August 9th at Mosaic Stadium. The first concert on Saturday, August 10th sold out in 59 minutes and set an all time attendance record for Mosaic Stadium.

THOMAS RHETT, KELSEA BALLERINI RETURN TO CO-HOST PRIMETIME ‘CMA FEST’ SPECIAL –
Thomas Rhett and Kelsea Ballerini will return to co-host the three-hour ABC-TV special, CMA Fest, set to air on Sunday, Aug. 4th at 8 p.m. ET. Filmed during Nashville’s annual four-day CMA Fest, taking place tomorrow (Thursday, June 6th) through Sunday (June 9th), the television special features more than 30 performances and surprise collaborations on stage at Nissan Stadium. 2019 marks the 16th consecutive year of the broadcast, a feat no other U.S. music festival has achieved.
This is Kelsea’s third year to co-host CMA Fest — Thomas’ fourth — and she tells us the experience has pretty much been a dream come true, getting to talk to and watch all her favorite entertainers hit the stage. [“It’s so fun! I mean, I feel like it gets you more involved in the whole CMA Fest, and for me, personally, just to be able to introduced someone and then watch them. I mean, it keeps us here all four nights and we get to watch our friends and watch our heroes and I’m a fangirl to the core, and just to be able to sit and watch and soak it up every night is super cool.”]
