On Today’s Show
June 17, 2019 9:35 amTwo guys decided it would be smart to try and rob a store in Daytona Beach that sells spy equipment and of course they were caught on camera. There were roughly 40 cameras running in the store. They tried to smash the front window with a hammer, but couldn’t get in because the owner paid extra for special glass that’s meant to withstand a hurricane.

- The Hoover Dam is made of 4.36 million cubic yards of concrete. That’s enough to make a highway from San Francisco to New York.

TODAY’S GOOD NEWS
There’s a seven-year-old in Cleveland named Alex Walker who has epilepsy. So she’s been in and out of hospitals her whole life. And a few years ago, she noticed some of the other sick kids she met didn’t have stuffed animals.
She wanted to give them some of hers. But they couldn’t use them because of germs. They’re only allowed to have NEW toys no one’s used yet.
So when she was four years old, Alex took all the money in her piggy bank . . . a whopping 65 bucks . . . and bought 13 teddy bears.
Since then, she’s bought another 400 plush toys by collecting donations and selling tomato plants she grows herself.
Every month, she and her mom deliver the stuffed animals to kids at the Cleveland Clinic. And now they’ll get to hand out a LOT more.
GoFundMe.com does a thing called “Kid Hero,” where they highlight one kid a month who’s doing great things. And they just named Alex their Kid Hero for June.
Donations have been flooding in. And last we checked, her total was over $18,000.

Human Rights Complaint Filed After Employer Failed To Provide Adequate Vegan Food
Here is an interesting human rights complaint:
An Ontario firefighter has filed a human rights complaint that could set a precedent for the accommodation of ethical veganism.
Adam Knauff alleges the Ministry of Natural Resources violated his human rights when he was not provided sufficient vegan food while battling a massive blaze in British Columbia in 2017.
The Kenora man says his employer discriminated against his sincerely held ethical belief — or creed — when it failed to provide him with adequate vegan food but the ministry argues that veganism is lifestyle choice and does not meet the legal definition of creed.
The advocacy group “Animal Justice” is hoping to intervene in what it says is an important test case because veganism in the workplace isn’t limited to Knauff.

Five Steps to Turn Yourself into a Morning Person
A new study found it IS possible to turn yourself into a morning person. You just have to be vigilant for about a month. Here are the five steps you need to follow . . .
- Force yourself to get up two to three hours earlier than usual. Then immediately get some sun. It signals your body to stop producing the sleep hormone melatonin. So opening your curtains or having breakfast outside can help you adjust.
- No caffeine after 3:00 PM. That means coffee AND soda. It might not matter for everyone. But people in the study had a three o’clock cutoff time for caffeine.
- Keep lights to a minimum at night, and get in bed two or three hours earlier than usual. It trains your body to start producing melatonin earlier, so it’s easier to sleep.
- Stick to your schedule. Don’t stay up late, or sleep in on weekends. For the first month or two, try to go to bed within the same 30-minute window each night. And naps are okay, but not after 4:00 PM.
- Move up your meals. Have breakfast as soon as you wake up. Don’t do dinner after 7:00 PM. And you might need to shift a few other things too. Like showering earlier, or exercising in the morning instead of at night.

LUKE COMBS’ NEW EP IS ‘JUMPING OFF POINT’ FOR NEXT CHAPTER OF CAREER
Luke Combs gave fans some new music with his brand-new EP, The Prequel, which he released on Friday (June 7th). The five-song project is just a taste of things to come, and as Luke tells us, the EP title was very purposeful. [“You know, I didn’t want people to think that it was like the only thing we were gonna do for a long time. You know, I didn’t want to say, ‘Oh we’re just gonna put out these five songs and that’s kind of it.’ I wanted them to know it’s kind of a jumping off point for the next part of the career, whatever that may be as far as whether it’s a new album or a new tour or whatever.”]
Luke’s debut album, This One’s For You, was released in 2015.
The album (and the reissue) produced five consecutive Number One hits.
ERIC CHURCH EARNS MORE HEAVY METAL FOR PAST HITS
Eric Church has had several records certified by the RIAA in recent weeks. His hit “Springsteen” was just certified 5x platinum, while “Like a Wrecking Ball” and “Record Year” are now 2x platinum. The North Carolina native’s “Sinners Like Me” and “Over When It’s Over” have gone gold.
“Springsteen,” which is featured on Eric’s 2011 album Chief, is not just a song, it’s an experience for all of those who hear it. He tells us: [“The interesting thing about this song is it has probably less to do with (Bruce) Springsteen than it is about what’s happening at this amphitheater up on the lawn. I had this experience. If you’ve had this experience, no matter whether you stay together or don’t stay together, when you hear that person’s music whether it’s Springsteen or anybody else, you always think of the person you were with at that show. And I have that. I just thought it was an interesting story about two people falling in love at a concert, and for the rest of their life that’s the soundtrack. That artist is the soundtrack to their love, and I just love that. It makes me feel 17 again every time I hear it.”]
Eric’s Double Down Tour runs through late November where it wraps up in Sacramento, CA.
