On Today’s Show
August 1, 2019 9:30 amA guy in Chicago couldn’t find his dog for over two days this past weekend. Then he got a call after someone spotted her swimming in the middle of Lake Michigan, about a half-mile from shore. A cop kept track of her in the water until police and fire department boats could get to her. Her owner says he knew the area she was in, and almost camped out in a park to keep looking for her. Then he couldn’t believe it when he got the call.

A family in Kansas City was doing some renovations last week and discovered that one of the columns on their front porch was full of empty beer cans and whiskey bottles, it was actually great news. The items dated back to the 1940s, and being in good condition, they’re potentially worth thousands of dollars on the collector’s market.
According to one of the workers, 100 cans came out of the column when they opened it up. Amazingly, a chute was discovered near the top of the column. It appears as though a previous homeowner was hiding the evidence of their drinking by dropping the empty bottles and cans through the chute. Now, decades later, they’re worth a decent amount of money.

ENTERTAINMENT
It looks like Adam Sandler isn’t done with Netflix just yet. This comes as no surprise considering his last movie, “Murder Mystery” with Jennifer Aniston, has been watched by 73 million people so far, and that he has a 4-movie deal with the streaming service. His newest comedy has just been announced, and although there isn’t a title yet, we do know that it is Halloween-themed. And it has one heck of a cast, including Maya Rudolph, Kevin James, Kenan Thompson, Julie Bowen, and Steve Buscemi.

Bloody Fight Starts on UK Cruise Ship after ‘Clown’ Shows Up
Passengers on a British cruise ship descended into a bloody mass brawl — after someone in a clown costume showed up at a black-tie dinner on board, according to reports.
There was blood everywhere,’” tweeted UK TV journalist Richard Gaisford, who was on the P&O Cruises ship, Britannia, as it headed home to the UK from Norway. Witnesses told me they were so frightened they had to hide, as family groups fought.”
The crazed fight broke out around 2 a.m. early Friday in a 16th-floor restaurant. “Things got out of hand very quickly, people had been drinking, and there was a fight … Chairs and plates were being thrown, people were very angry … It was shocking to see and some of the staff and passengers were scared and had to hide.”
Those behind the violence were confined to a cabin for the last day of the cruise. Police met the cruise when it docked in Southampton Saturday, with six people suffering “significant bruising and cuts,” according to authorities. A 43-year-old man and 41-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of assault. They were later released from custody but remain under investigation.

HUNGER FOR KNOWLEDGE:
The people who run the Fredericton, New Brunswick Public Library know all about people who have a thirst for knowledge. And a hunger for knowledge. So, they’ve installed a refrigerator stocked with fresh fruit and other snacks for anyone who feels the need to nosh while they are there.
The director of the library says that students who are at the library studying for exams often ask if there is any food available. The city’s homeless often use the services of the library, and they are welcome to make use of the Community Fridge as well. It opened last week to a positive response, and the library plans to add a variety of snacks ranging from yogurt to sandwiches.

You’re Probably Washing Your Face Wrong
A new survey found over half of peoples don’t regularly wash their face. And a lot of people who do aren’t doing it right. Here are the five most common things we do wrong
- Not doing it enough. Most dermatologists say you should wash your face twice a day, in the morning and before bed.
- Only using water. 53% of people said they usually just use water, which doesn’t really do much. Face cleansers are best. But 48% of us have never used one . . . 41% have used regular hand soap instead . . . and 47% have used shampoo or conditioner.
- Using really hot water. 41% of people use hot water when they wash their face. But lukewarm is better for your skin.
- Drying your face off by rubbing it with a towel. Towels are fine, but you should pat it dry. Too much rubbing dries your skin out.
- Not washing your face after you’ve been sweating. You should wash it immediately after a workout. Otherwise, the sweat and oil seeps into your skin, clogs your pores, and causes breakouts.

RILEY GREEN’S FIRST (LITTLE) SPLURGE
Riley Green is no spend-thrift. Even though he recently celebrated his first chart-topping hit, “There Was This Girl,” he made what seemed like a practical purchase while out on the road recently. He tells us: [“I don’t think I really have a luxurious lifestyle that I’m like searching for. It’d be nice for me not to go back to framing houses. That would make me happy. But I bought a 1985 Chrysler LeBaron for $3000 when I was on tour last week and it broke down at the show. It’s got wood paneling on the side. I mean there’s no point in me buying anything really nice. I don’t have time to drive a car. I’ve got a place up here. But that was really out of necessity.”]
Based on pictures Riley recently posted on his Instagram account, @rileyduckman, he got the car back up and running.
His second single, “In Love by Now,” is climbing the charts.
FAST FACTS
Riley continues on tour with Brad Paisley, resuming on August 10th in Bristow, VA.
