A fan from Australia recently shared the story of how she got lost in Los Angeles while on vacation, and Keanu Reeves came to her rescue — although she didn’t realize that it was him to begin with. Nicole Lewis-Jacobs had completely lost her bearings in Beverly Hills. She bumped into Reeves in a café, and asked him for directions, although at this point, he was simply a “bloke” to her. Reeves offered to give Lewis-Jacobs a lift to her destination in his Porsche, but she told him that she wasn’t in the habit of getting into cars with strange men she didn’t know.

It was at that moment that Reeves introduced himself. “I was a little shocked to realize who I was actually talking to as I did not recognize him,”.He made sure I got to the destination, safely calling my husband and kids (who were on a bus to meet me) to say he had me in the car as well as the family friends we were visiting. It is not every day that a movie star like Keanu Reeves gives you a lift in Tinseltown.”

RANDOM REPORT

  1. Bob Rossmade 1,143 paintings during his career on PBS.  The majority of them are stored at the headquarters of Bob Ross Inc. in Virginia and his business partner says they don’t have any plans to sell them because that, quote, “wasn’t really Bob’s thing.”

  1. Statistically, you are most likely to die in January, least likely in August.
  2. The number of text messages sent and received in a given day is greater than the world’s population.
  3. One of the main reasons Blu-Ray beat HD-DVD is because Sony included a Blu-Ray player in the PlayStation 3, to get it into a ton of houses.  But because of the cost, they lost $200 on every PlayStation 3 they sold . . . about $3 billion total.

GOOD NEWS

There’s a 64-year-old wheat farmer in eastern Washington named Larry Yockey, who’s been battling stage 4 melanoma.  And he’s in pretty rough shape.

The cancer spread to his bones and weakened them.  So he ended up with a broken hip and cracked ribs.  And he had no way to harvest his crops this year.

But a bunch of people on neighboring farms found out about it a few months ago and started planning.

And on Sunday, around 60 farmers showed up with combines and other equipment.  And they harvested his entire 1,200-acre field in ONE DAY.

They did three weeks of work in about six hours.  And Larry was totally blown away by the huge show of support.  Obviously it’s a big deal for him financially.  So all that stress is gone.

It’s also given him an opportunity to focus on his treatments and hopefully get better.  He told reporters he can’t even describe how thankful he is.

Rude Cell Phone Behavior We’ve Normalized

  • Ignoring a call, and texting back. Somebody calls you, you don’t feel like talking on the phone, so you ignore the call, and simply text back, “Hey, I saw you called what’s up?” And now that you’ve texted back, you’re proven you are, in fact, available to talk, you just didn’t feel like picking up.

  • Treating every message as urgent. We’ve completely come to accept that if someone we are talking to, in real life, receives a Facebook message/Twitter alert/text, that that person is going to stop our conversation to answer it.

  • At the cashier. These poor cashiers are left feeling like they’re interrupting our phone conversations just by doing their jobs in asking things like, “Do you need a bag?” or “Do you have a rewards phone number?”

  • Texting and walking. Some of the most dangerous people on the roads aren’t drivers but pedestrians on their phones.

  • Delaying the meal for photos. The moment everyone’s food arrives at the table, and just when everyone is absolutely salivating and can’t wait to dig in, someone says, “Wait. Let me take a picture of the food.”

  • FaceTiming in public. What is with all of the people who FaceTime in public now? Oh, and not even with headphones in, but with the other person on speakerphone!

  • Taking photos/videos without permission. It’s completely normal to see people raise their phones to take a photo or video of anything. A couple fighting. A car crash. A baby doing something cute. We don’t have permission to document

THIS IS WHY YOU SHOULD NEVER REFILL YOUR PLASTIC WATER BOTTLE

If you finish the water in your disposable bottle you might want to think twice about refilling it.

The issue is the plastic water bottles contain the chemical BPA, which can leach into the water and quickly grow dangerous bacteria in the bottle’s cracks.

Kent Atherton, CEO of PuriBloc technology, says, “Even BPA-free products are not safe since manufacturers are now substituting other estrogenic chemicals, not as widely known, which may pose a danger to human health.” These chemicals can have a negative effect on human beings’ hormonal balances.

Also, single-use plastic bottles are mostly made of PET– which is safe to use, but not reuse, as it also leaches chemicals into your water if heated or if the bottle gets scratched.

The other concern about re-using a bottle is very basic– it comes into contact with your hands and mouth, which are both huge sources of germs. Your best bet is to invest in a BPA-free plastic bottle or one made from glass or stainless steel.

LUKE BRYAN TO RETURN TO ‘AMERICAN IDOL’

It’s been confirmed that Luke Bryan will join Katy Perry and Lionel Richie at the judges table once again for the third season of American Idol on ABC. The search for America’s next superstar began with auditions in Brooklyn, New York last month and will hit 21 cities across the country. Next up is Mobile, AL on August 20th.

While the bond between the four has solidified over the past two seasons, Luke tells us the most important aspect of the talent competition is the contestants. [“It’s always about the contestants. That’s what makes the show fun for us – the surprises, the talent, the youthfulness of the talent. I mean, we have so many 15, 16, 17-year-olds that are unbelievable, and watching them handle the pressure and have fun and the tears and the joy and the smile and all that. We love the role – me and Katie and Lionel and Ryan – we’re having a great time doing this, and to be able to facilitate these kids’ dreams is very special for us.”]

American Idol hopefuls can audition in person or by submitting online videos via Instagram, Facebook and Twitter with the hashtag #TheNextIdol. Contestants must be at least 15 years old to audition.

Kelsea Ballerini will return to the Grand Ole Opry tonight (Tuesday, August 6th) for a performance. An official Opry member since April, Kelsea tells us that even as a kid sitting in the audiences with her mom, she’s always wanted to spend as much time there as she could. [“It’s the kind of thing even as a fan you walk in the room and you’re like, ‘I get it.’ You just feel it and I knew that even as a fan I wanted to be a part of the Opry. I just wanted to be there as much as I could and they invited me to come sing my debut single before it was even Top 30 and I just remember thinking like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is the coolest thing’ that had ever happened to me at that point, but then when it happened I was like, ‘I just want to . . . everytime they ask me, like, I have to come play here.'”]

Kelsea has been working on a new album, the followup to her 2017 release, Unapologetically. Her latest single, “Miss Me More,” recently topped the country charts.
