A recent survey of college kids found they’re eating a dangerous amount of tuna, and have no idea it’s high in mercury because of pollution and the survey found some are eating it up to 20 times a week mostly because it’s cheap and easy to make.  Too much mercury in your diet can cause anxiety, mood changes, memory problems, and depression.  And in high amounts, it can mess with your vision, hearing, motor skills, and speech .Larry David did a stand-up bit on this exact topic, during a TBS special in 2005.

A guy with a gun robbed a bar in St. Louis the other day.  And one of the bar’s regulars refused to participate.  Tony Tovar was sitting at the bar when the guy pointed his gun at him.

But he refused to get on the ground . . . wouldn’t give up his cell phone . . . and casually lit up a cigarette while the guy stole cash from the register.

GOOD NEWS

We’ve seen a lot of Make-a-Wish stories.  But this one’s great:  There’s an 18-year-old kid in Arizona named Jaime Gamez.  (Pronounced HIGH-may GAH-mez)  And he was diagnosed with cancer last year, but he’s in remission now.

Even with all his treatments, he still managed to graduate high school.  And when the Make-a-Wish Foundation asked what his wish was, he said he just wanted to KEEP going to school.

All he wanted was to go to a technical school near Phoenix, so he could study to be a diesel technician and work on big engines.

So on Wednesday, some of the Make-a-Wish people took him there to check the place out . . . then revealed he’d been awarded a FULL SCHOLARSHIP.

The president of the school announced that Make-a-Wish was covering 100% of his tuition.  And he broke down in tears.

She said he could have asked for anything, like meeting his favorite celebrity.  And it’s incredible that the thing he wanted most was to further his education.

Guy Takes Pictures Secretly Proposing to His Girlfriend for a Month

What do you do if you want to stage an elaborate proposal for your significant other . . . but you’re the kind of person who doesn’t plan big, elaborate things?

There’s a 30-year-old guy named Edi Okoro in Herefordshire, England who figured out an answer.

He got an engagement ring for his girlfriend, Cally Read, then took pictures for a month of “proposals” . . . without her realizing it.

Quote, “The idea was to take as many photos, in more daring scenarios, until I found the perfect moment to propose, or until I got caught, at which point I would propose.”

And after a month of him taking selfies with the ring while her back was turned, while she did stuff around the house, and even while she slept . . . he finally proposed for real last week and showed her all of the pictures.

THE UPSIDE OF LYING DOWN:
Taking a midday nap is good for the heart, according to a new Greek study.

Researchers examined about 400 people with hypertension, measuring their blood pressure and their time spent sleeping during the day. Those who took noontime naps had lower blood pressure and took fewer hypertension medications than those who didn’t nap, and the results were especially positive for those who took hour-long or longer siestas.

This study doesn’t necessarily show that napping in itself lowers blood pressure, researchers say. It’s possible that people who make room for some midday shuteye also happen to live more balanced, less stressed lives.

Watch Jon Pardi Pull Broccoli, Elk Meat, and Lots of Pickles Out of His Fridge

“Men’s Fitness” went to JON PARDI’s house to shame him . . . I mean, ask him about his healthy lifestyle.  They call it “Gym and Fridge,” and I’m calling B.S. because I didn’t see any beer, unless it was hiding behind something.

As for the gym part:  He works out three times a week with dumbbells, kettlebells, and medicine balls.  Those go under his bus and travel with him when he’s on the road.  If there’s a time crunch he does pushups, sit-ups, planks, and jump squats.

And when they made him rifle through his fridge, he admitted he stocked it with healthy stuff because he knew they were coming.  Why else would there be lettuce, broccoli, asparagus, AND kombucha?

He did admit to eating eggs every day for breakfast, plus a lot of barbecue and elk meat from his hunting trips to Montana.

Also, the man loves pickles . . . there were several jars of them.  And when he was asked about satisfying his sweet tooth, out came the container of red vines.

CARRIE UNDERWOOD TO RELEASE FIRST FITNESS AND LIFESTYLE BOOK

One look at Carrie Underwood and you know she makes fitness a priority in her life, and now she’s sharing her secrets, tips, her own personal journey as well as her Fit52 program in a new book called Find Your Path: Honor Your Body, Fuel Your Soul, and Get Strong with the Fit52 Life. This is Carrie’s first book, and it’s set for release in 2020.

Whether on the road or at home in Nashville, Carrie tells us that working out is a daily must for her. [“It’s my therapy, like everyday. I don’t go get massages, I don’t go get facials. That’s my thing. I don’t need vacations even. I’m like, ‘Honey, if you can give me like an hour (laughs) I’m good,’ and I feel like a lot of what I do is physically demanding and I need to be at my peak. I need to be able to sing and walk across a stage without being winded. I feel like it’s just something that makes me a better person, a better performer, so I need that in my life.”]

Carrie’s Cry Pretty Tour 360 resumes on Tuesday (September 10th) in San Diego, CA with special guests Maddie & Tae and Runaway June.

Check Out Tim McGraw’s Cover of “Drive” By the Cars

TIM MCGRAW celebrated ‘Throwback Thursday’ by releasing a cover of “Drive” by THE CARS.  But it isn’t a joke . . . it’s actually done well, and it’ll be on his next album.

Tim Tweeted, quote, “I love finding cover songs for my albums.  We’ve done ‘Suspicions’ [by Eddie Rabbit], ‘Tiny Dancer’ [by Elton John], ‘[When the] Stars Go Blue’ [by Ryan Adams] . . .

“For the next album, I really wanted to find something cool and unique.  ‘Drive’ was one we covered in bars back in the day, and it still reminds me of high school.”

It does seem like he’s had some time to hone his version, which sticks close to the original.

By the way, it’s for an upcoming album, but Tim hasn’t revealed any other details about that yet.  This is the first recording he’s released since he put out “Thought About You” last October.
