An eight-year-old kid in Kansas named Christian Moore showed up for his first day of school, and noticed another boy named Connor crying in the corner.  So he held his hand.  Now a photo of them is going viral, because it turns out Connor’s autistic.  So that’s why he was having a hard time.  Christian’s mom says it was amazing to see her son be so compassionate at such a young age.

The Brady kids are back on TV tonight!  The original actors who played Greg, Peter, Bobby, Marcia, Jan, and Cindy are on tonight’s season premiere of “A Very Brady Renovation”.  HGTV bought the house that was shown on exterior shots of “The Brady Bunch” and redesigned it to appear the same INSIDE.  Here’s a scene from last year’s “Building Brady” when Susan Olsen and Mike Lookinland (they played Cindy and Bobby) worked on building Tiger’s doghouse.

TODAY IS……………….

  • “Teddy Bear Day”, honoring the 1st and most popular plush animal toy that was inspired by the helpless cub US president Teddy Roosevelt refused to shoot while hunting in 1902. Morris & Rose Mitchom, owners of a Brooklyn NY candy store, took credit for creating the 1st ‘Teddy Bear’, but it may be that renowned German toymaker Steiff was already making bears by then.

GOOD NEWS

A 43-year-old Army vet named Jimmy Novak has spent the past five months walking from his home in Washington state all the way to FLORIDA.  And he’s doing it to raise awareness for the shocking number of veterans who take their own life.

He’s been walking 22 miles a day.  Because on average, 22 vets die from suicide each day in America.

He says he’s dealt with anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts in his own life.  So he wanted to do something to encourage other veterans to seek help early.

He just finished his 3,000-mile trip recently when he arrived at Disney World in Orlando.

He’s also raised thousands of dollars online during his trip across the U.S.

Hurricane Dorian – Sean Connery

89-year-old SEAN CONNERY was one of the many people affected by Hurricane Dorian last week.  And he says he’s luckier than most people who went through it.

He and his wife were at their home in the Bahamas when the storm hit, but they’re okay.  He says, quote, “We were lucky compared to many others, and the damage here was not great.”

He said they knew it might be bad, so they made sure they were ready.  But then the worst of it hit about 90 miles away from them.  They had a lot of wind and rain . . . but it could’ve been a lot worse.

By the way the famous summer home mansion from the movie, “The Notebook” made it through the hurricane. It’s near the ocean, right next to a river outside Charleston, South Carolina, which got hit pretty hard.

So flooding was a real concern.  But apparently it made it through mostly unscathed.

READIN’, WRITIN’, AND REAL-LIFE SKILLS:
Sure, students learn a lot of things at school, but does what they learn prepare them for the real world?

A school in Texas is aiming to do just that with a new class called “Adulting 101”. Cedar Ridge High School in Round Rock is offering the class, which teaches “basic life skills”, aimed at teaching students how to cook healthy meals, write a resume, interview for a job and manage money, among other things.

The course is still evolving, and the school plans to add other valuable lessons to the curriculum, such as basic automotive skills.

BRANTLEY GILBERT AND WIFE PREPARING SON FOR BABY SISTER

Brantley Gilbert and his wife, Amber, are preparing their almost two-year-old son, Barrett, for the arrival of his baby sister next month. Brantley tells us that Barrett seems to make some connection to his mom’s tummy and the baby, but he tells us it’s really anyone’s guess if he gets it. [“I don’t think he knows exactly what the deal is. Like I can ask him where she is and he’ll go to Amber and he’ll point to her tummy.  And you know, I’ll tell him to take me to sissy’s room and he’ll take me down there and he’ll tell me whose bed it is.  So he knows something’s up and something’s coming, but at 20 months I don’t know if he’s wrapped his mind around, ‘Dude, my whole world’s about to get turned on its head.’”] Baby girl Gilbert is due on September 18th. Barrett will celebrate his second birthday in November.

THOMAS RHETT IS READY TO GIVE ACTING A SHOT

Thomas Rhett has conquered the music world and is now thinking about giving acting a shot. He tells us that entertaining people in that realm has been of interest since childhood. [“Even from a young age, me and my sister used to write little skits and my dad would film us acting out these scenes. And I’ve always loved being behind the camera, but acting, that is not a joke. I’ve done a little bit of it here and there, like in music videos, and I’ve guested on The Ranch with Ashton Kutcher on Netflix.  And it’s easy to get into a room and try to pretend that you’re somebody else in a song, but when you’re trying to pretend like you’re somebody else and act it, that is a whole different ballgame. But I would love to at least take some lessons and dive into it and see what the future held.”]

In the meantime, Thomas is happy touring the world and promoting his latest single, “Remember You Young.” His Very Hot Summer Tour resumes on September 5th in Sioux Falls, SD.

The Very Hot Summer Tour features special guest Dustin Lynch along with Russell Dickerson and Rhett Akins. Thomas and his wife, Lauren, are expecting their third child — and third girl — sometime next year.
