On Today’s Show
September 13, 2019 9:35 amA London, Ontario family was shocked to discover what was causing the buzzing sound in the walls of the Old South home they just bought… a hive of approximately 100,000 bees.
Chantelle Ryan says the beekeeper she and her husband hired thinks the colony has been hard at work in the walls of their new home for 5 to 7 years.
The beekeeper removed a section of the wall in their master bedroom to capture the queen and remove the over 250 pounds of honeycomb which she turned into honey with the help of her Dad. They’ve harvested so much honey that they’re sharing it with their new neighbours.

Seen a lot of creepy crawlers around the house lately? That’s because female spiders fatten up toward the end of Summer as they prepare to lay eggs, anywhere from 50-to-1,000 each. Some females can double in size, making them much easier to spot. What’s really creepy is they were there all along … you just don’t notice them when they were small and rolled up in a ball. The rule of thumb, according to entomologists, is no one anywhere is ever more than 1 meter (3.3 feet) away from a spider.

GOOD NEWS
There’s an elementary school kid in Tallahassee who’s a huge University of Tennessee fan. But apparently he couldn’t afford one of their shirts, so he made one.
He drew the initials “U.T.” on a piece of paper. Then he literally just pinned it to an orange shirt. But the kids at his school were pretty ruthless, and he got made fun of a lot.
Then his teacher posted a photo of it on Facebook, hoping someone would buy him a real Tennessee Volunteers shirt. And something even better happened.
The president of the university saw the post and sent him a TON of swag. Then the school announced they were actually making shirts with the logo the KID designed.
They’re selling it online for $15. And a portion of each sale will go to a charity called Stomp Out Bullying

Friday the 13th! A New Poll Found Almost a Third of Us Are Superstitious
It’s Friday the 13th AND there’s a full moon tonight. Which won’t happen again for another 30 years. And if that makes you squirm a little, you’re not alone.
Almost a third of people admitted they’re superstitious . . . including 9% who said they’re VERY superstitious. That’s about 1 in 11 people.
Men were much more likely to say they’re very superstitious . . . 16% compared to just 2% of women. And young people are more superstitious than older people are. 23% of people between 25 and 34 said they’re very superstitious, versus 1% of people over 55.
Four Things You Should Know About Tonight’s Full Moon . . . on Friday the 13th
Today is Friday the 13th. And there’s also going to be a FULL MOON tonight.
Here are four things you should know about it . . .
- It’s this year’s “Harvest Moon.” The full moon closest in date to the Fall Equinox is always referred to as a “Harvest Moon.” And since this year’s equinox falls on September 23rd, tonight’s full moon gets the title.
- It will also be a “micro moon.” Tonight’s full moon also coincides with the point in the moon’s orbit when it’s farthest from Earth. So even though it’s a full moon, it’ll appear slightly smaller and less bright than usual.
- It’s only full for an instant. The moon will appear full most of the night, but it’s only officially full when it’s exactly 180 degrees opposite the sun in something called ecliptic longitude. And for tonight’s harvest moon, that happens at about 12:33 A.M. Eastern.
- A full moon on Friday the 13th is pretty rare. We haven’t had a nationwide full moon on Friday the 13th since October 13th, 2000 . . . and the next one won’t be until August 13th, 2049.

A WALKMAN DOWN MEMORY LANE:
Sony is releasing a new 40th anniversary edition of its revolutionary music player, the “Walkman”. The Walkman was the first truly portable personal cassette player and it changed the way we listen to music.
The new version has a 40th anniversary logo printed on the back, and it comes with a specially designed case and package that pay homage to the original TPS-L2 Walkman. While a look through the plastic window will give the impression of the cogs of a cassette turning inside, a closer look will reveal that it is a touch screen with a perfect video representation of a tape. As you tap it, the image is replaced by the modern interface of a digital audio player, with album art, track details and play and pause functionality.
Powered by Android, the new Sony Walkman will deliver high-resolution audio, and give listeners the option of using a vinyl processor to give digital tracks the “character

- HAPPY INTERNATIONAL CHOCOLATE DAY…..And remember . . . chocolate is a health food. Chocolate is derived from cocoa beans. Beans are vegetables. Sugar is derived either from sugar beets, or cane, and both are vegetables. And of course, the milk and cream are dairy. So, eat more chocolate to meet your dietary requirements of daily vegetable and dairy intake. You’re welcome. These are things I keep reminding myself of, so I feel less guilty.

TRISHA YEARWOOD ‘INSPIRED’ BY OWN ALBUM
Trisha Yearwood hopes that her new album, Every Girl, provides some form of inspiration to its listeners, but her first order of business when prepping the project was to choose songs that inspired her first. She tells us: [“People always say, ‘I hope that my music inspires someone else.’ But, first it has to inspire the artist that records it. You have to be inspired by the music to do it in the first place, and this album really inspires me. The songs really, really move me, and my hope is that other people will get a chance to hear it and find something in it for them.”]
Trisha is climbing the charts with the album’s title track, “Every Girl In This Town.”
FAST FACTS
Trisha will kick off her Every Girl On Tour on October 3rd with a three-night stint with the Nashville Symphony at Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Nashville.
She will host this year’s CMA Country Christmas special, being taped in Nashville on September 25th. It will air later this year on ABC.
BRETT YOUNG – FESTIVALS
The first time Brett Young went to a music festival . . . was when he performed at one. He was a three-sport star when he was young and that ate up all of his free time.
