A 27-year-old guy in Canada got attacked by a black bear, and tried to reason with it so it wouldn’t eat him.  He looked the bear in the eye and said, “You don’t gotta do this.”  And I guess it worked, because he survived with just some scratch marks on his back and arm.

An eight-year-old kid in Colorado named Pike Carlson got attacked by a mountain lion last month, and survived it.  He tried to poke it in the eye with a stick.  Then his dad ran in with a knife and scared it off.  He’s already had two surgeries, and might need a third to fix one of his eyelids.  But otherwise, his mom says he’s doing great.

GOOD NEWS

A 32-year-old named Orlando Hernandez was driving down the interstate near Chicago recently when his back right tire blew.

Then he lost control of his truck . . . FLIPPED it . . . slammed into a concrete barrier . . . and a news helicopter got it all on video.

His truck ended up on the side of the road, upside down.  And he couldn’t get out because the roof and doors were caved in.

But then a bunch of construction workers and other people ran in to help.  And around a dozen guys worked together to LIFT the truck up onto its side. An off-duty firefighter also stopped to help.  He helped smash out the windshield and cut Orlando’s seatbelt.

Then he tried to get him to stay in the truck until paramedics got there, just in case he had a spinal injury.  But Orlando wasn’t having it.  He decided to climb out on his own, and he’s totally fine.

RESIDENTS BAFFLED BY CREEPY DOLLS LEFT AROUND MISSOURI COUNTY

How would you feel about finding a headless doll in your yard? Authorities in Missouri say residents of Jefferson County have been finding creepy dolls posed in odd locations.

The dolls have been mistaken for children and have been found hanging on top of stop signs, on large rocks in people’s yards, and more.

Police say some of the dolls were found without heads, and generally all of them seem to be placed as part of a prank. Authorities just worry they could lead to unintentional injury as people attempt to save what they think is a child from danger.

WOMAN BURNS PENNYWISE DOLL THAT FLOATED INTO HER BACKYARD

In the case of any kind of haunting you’d definitely want this woman helping you survive.

Renee Jensen of Harrington Park, New Jersey got home Saturday afternoon (August 17th) to find a stuffed animal that looks like Pennywise, the clown, from Stephen’s King’s novel ‘It.’

She called police, who found no evidence of anything suspicious on her property. Jensen tried to get the officers to take the clown with them, but they wouldn’t– so she burned it. She then had to sleep at home along that night, and opted to sleep with a knife, you know, just in case.

A Real Estate Listing Is Going Viral Because of Its Freaky Rooms Full of Terrifying Dolls

There’s a real estate listing for a mansion in South Australia that’s going viral right now . . . and not because of how nice the house is.

It’s because the listing features pictures of some rooms in the house full of FREAKY, TERRIFYING things like scarecrows, evil dolls, fake spiders, and more decorations that give off a real “you’ll get murdered in your sleep” vibe.

It’s not clear WHY the woman who owns the house has all that stuff, like if they’re Halloween decorations or she’s just got strange taste in collecting.  It’s also not clear if you get to keep all the stuff if you buy the place.

WOULD YOU LIKE ANXIETY WITH THAT?

Although a meal out is supposed to be an enjoyable occasion, a new study reveals that the entire dining out process, from choosing where to eat, what to eat, and making reservations, is actually quite stressful.

But the most stressful part of the whole thing? Deciding what to wear. A poll found that 65% feel overwhelmed when choosing what to wear to a restaurant. One third said that choosing what to wear is more stressful than deciding where to eat.

And about a quarter of those surveyed admitted they’ve skipped going out to a meal because they couldn’t find the right outfit.

Smelling a Lemon Won’t Make You Slim Down . . . but You’ll Feel Slimmer

This is great for someone like me who wants to FEEL like they’re in better shape without actually doing anything . . .

A new study at the University of Sussex in England found that smelling a lemon makes us FEEL thinner, and ups our self-esteem . . . even though it doesn’t actually make us lose weight.

People who sniffed a lemon felt thinner, lighter, and better about their body.  And smelling the scent of VANILLA did the opposite.  It made them feel heavier and more out of shape than they really were.

It has to do with how our brain associates different smells with various other things.  When we think of lemons, we think of freshness.  And when we think of vanilla, we think of things like cookies and ice cream that aren’t good for us.

Researchers think it might be useful for people with eating disorders, who have issues with body image.

Previous studies have shown that certain sounds can do the same thing.  When researchers changed the pitch of people’s footsteps, they felt thinner, happier, and even changed the way they walked.  But this is the first study to show smells can do it too.

LADY ANTEBELLUM’S VEGAS RESIDENCY WAS ‘GOOD BUSINESS’

Lady Antebellum recently wrapped up their first residency at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, and while they don’t have any more dates on the books for now, it seems like the trio would definitely be open to it.

Charles Kelley explains that there are a lot of advantages to playing a residency: [“Being in one place you can really have a production that you can spend a lot of money on and still do good business, because it is expensive to tour. I mean sitting down with our business manager and going, ‘Oh my gosh, we’re going to have to spend all this money on eight trucks and trailers and tour buses and all this stuff,’ and we get a transient audience each night with the exception of probably maybe 20 people that come back the next night or something. It’s a new audience.”]

Lady A is set to release their new album before the end of the year. It will include their latest hit single, “What If I Never Get Over You.”

RASCAL FLATTS COMING WITH NEW MUSIC SOON

Rascal Flatts have been teasing new music over the last few weeks by sharing pictures of themselves in the recording studio working on new music. While fans can expect some new single, Joe Don Rooney tells us there’s no new album in the immediate future. [“I think it’s more important than ever to find just the right song each time. You know we don’t have to look at it as a whole full body of work now.  It’s like, well, we have quite a few things on hold and we’re looking at going in pretty soon to record and we don’t have to do like 11 songs. We can record two or three and put those out as soon as possible.”]

The guys continue their Summer Playlist Tour tonight (Thursday, September 12th) in Toronto.

GARTH BROOKS FANS FREEZE INTERNET OVER NEYLAND STADIUM TICKET SALES

Garth Brooks fans froze the internet when tickets to his concert at Neyland Stadium at the University of Tennessee went on sale on Friday (September 13th). Moving at over 1,000 tickets a minute, the Garth Brooks Stadium Tour ticket on sale came to a halt when the system could not open tickets fast enough to keep up with the demand.

Barely 30 minutes into the on-sale and with 20,000 people still in line, the system simply did not show any more tickets were for sale. The on-sale was halted to be fair to everyone in line. The new date to finish the on-sale is Thursday (September 19th) at 10 a.m. ET

The concert will be on Saturday, November 16th.
