A couple was watching TV when a mountain lion came into their home.  The man said he flicked its tail and it ran and locked itself into the bathroom.  No one was hurt, and they managed to get the lion out through the window.

Carson King is the college student who held up a sign on ESPN’s “College GameDay” last week asking people to Venmo him money for Busch Light.  He got so many donations, he decided to donate the money to the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital.  Then it blew up.  And last week, he said it was up over 30 grand.  But now he’s got Busch and Venmo matching all contributions.  And over the weekend, he announced the new total is much higher.

ENTERTAINMENT

Three movies debuted this past weekend . . . and the “Downton Abbey” movie did the best, winning the box office with $31 million.  “Ad Astra” made $19.2 million and edged “Rambo: Last Blood” ($19 million) for second.

“Game of Thrones” won 12 Emmys this year, tying their record for one show in a single season.  “Veep” and “The Big Bang Theory” got shut out in their final seasons.

While presenting a reality show award at the Emmys last night, Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner got laughed at by the audience when they referred to their show as “people just being themselves.”  They were being serious, but it came off as a joke.

GOOD NEWS

Rent is higher in cities, because so many people want to live there.  But making the commute might not be a bad idea if it means more open space . . .

A new study in England found that the closer you live to nature, the HAPPIER you are.

They looked at stats from over 25,000 people.  And they found that people within walking distance of parks . . . or other open areas . . . tend to have higher levels of self-worth and overall life satisfaction.

It also found that living close to nature can have an even bigger impact on your mental health than your INCOME.

The study specifically looked at “urban green spaces.”  Meaning parks, or open fields in cities and suburban areas.

Being within walking distance was key, and had the biggest impact.

Living within 1,000 feet of a two-and-a-half acre park was associated with an 8% bump in overall life satisfaction. (Two-and-a-half acres is roughly two football fields.)

STUDY: DRINKING TEA MAY IMPROVE BRAIN HEALTH

Go ahead and sip some tea– it might boost your brain health. A new study finds regular tea drinkers have better organized brain regions compared to non-tea drinkers.

Having better organized brain regions is associated with healthy cognitive function, which in turn protects against age-related decline.

They found those who drank either green, oolong, or black tea at least four times a week for about 25 years had brain regions that were “interconnected in a more efficient way” than those who did not drink tea.

  1. The event to STORM AREA 51 went down early on Friday morning.  Only about 100 people showed up, and no one made it inside.  There was just one arrest:  A guy got busted for indecent exposure after he PEED near the gate.

The truth, it seems, remains out there.

Then on Saturday, some YouTuber wielding a plunger like a sword pretended to charge the gates with his friends.  But it was just for a video, and they didn’t actually break in.  He said the plunger was to, quote, “plunge the truth” about aliens.

  1. Jim Gaffigan said that when he happened upon a real bear, he watches so much nature TV, he thought of it more like a celebrity sighting.  And he believes it had the same effect on the bear.  (From his 2019 Amazon special “Quality Time”)

BLAKE SHELTON REUNITES WITH HIS TV ‘FAMILY’ TONIGHT – (09/23/2019)

Blake Shelton returns to the set of NBC’s The Voice tonight (Monday, September 23rd), sharing coaching duties this season with Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Gwen Stefani. While all four have a history of coaching on the hit show, having them all on the show at the same time is a first. Blake tells us:[“This particular combination of coaches have never worked together on this show before, but every one of these coaches has been on this show before so you’re dealing with a bunch of people who get what this show is about and by that I mean very competitive, they know what their job is and that’s to try to win this show, but also, interestingly enough, it’s like a family on this already and we’re just getting started.”]

The Voice airs tonight and tomorrow (Tuesday, September 24th) beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
