On Today’s Show
September 26, 2019 9:35 amHave you heard about the guy in Iowa who held up a sign on ESPN asking for beer money, then used it to raise over $1 million for charity? Well, a newspaper looked through his Twitter history. And it turns out he posted two racist tweets in 2012 when he was 16. So Busch has now cut ties with him. He issued an apology after the paper told him about it.

Here’s why you don’t leave aerosol cans in your hot car. A girl in Missouri left a can of dry shampoo in her center console the other day, and it exploded. It tore the top off the console . . . smashed through her sunroof . . . and landed about 50 feet away. Her mom says they were mostly just confused, because they didn’t know what happened at first.

ENTERTAINMENT
Kevin Hart can’t believe he’s alive following the horrific car crash he was involved in on Sept. 1st. Reportedly, Hart has now seen photographs of the wreckage, and he’s “grateful” and “shocked” that he made it out. Of course, that’s not to say that Hart made it out unscathed. He required surgery for three spinal fractures and was hospitalized for 10 days before being transferred to an inpatient facility for grueling physical therapy. He is now back home, and a physical therapist is coming to his house.

The film will also begin streaming on Netflix at midnight PT on Oct. 11, and will later have a run on AMC, which aired the original Emmy-winning series. As you know by now, the movie was filmed in secret and remains shrouded in mystery. What we do know is this: It follows meth-maker Jesse Pinkman after he escapes from Neo-Nazi captivity.

Four Little Things That Could Ruin Your Chances of Landing a Job
When you’re looking for a job, pay attention to the small stuff. Here are four little things that can ruin your chances . . .
- Not applying for the job properly in the first place. Like emailing the wrong person, or not using the online system they set up for applications. Just read the job description carefully, and do exactly what they say.
- Not being fun enough in your interview. It depends on the job. But in general, we like working with people we enjoy being around. So if you come off as rigid and boring, your chances go down.
- Being TOO FUN. Some people overdo it and act like they’re talking to a friend instead of a potential boss. So you want to be likeable, but also professional. Not like you’re hanging out at a bar with friends.
- Still using an embarrassing email address. Hopefully you’ve ditched your “SkaterBro69” address from college by now. But even just using the wrong email host can make you look bad. In general, sites like AOL, Excite, and Yahoo are seen as less professional. Gmail is the new standard.

GOOD NEWS
There’s a World War Two vet named James South who lives in a retirement home near Dallas. And he’s going viral after he made a sign asking people to send 100 birthday cards for his 100th birthday.
He wants to decorate his room with them. And his late wife was one of the reasons he thought of it.
While they were dating during World War Two, she wrote him a letter EVERY DAY he was gone fighting overseas.
They were married 55 years until she passed away back in 2001. Then he lived on his own until two years ago, when he finally moved into a retirement home at 98.
His birthday is October 7th, which is still about two weeks out. So if you want to send a card, there’s plenty of time.
(The address is: James South, 5800 North Park Drive, Watauga, Texas 76148.)

We Only Eat Breakfast Three Times a Week . . . and 13% of Us Never Do
Apparently a large portion of us don’t think breakfast is “the most important meal of the day.” Because we’re definitely not treating it that way . . .
A survey found the average American only eats breakfast three times a week. And 13% of us almost NEVER do. That’s about 1 in 8 people.
Here are four more stats about our breakfast-eating habits . . .
- Our favorite breakfast stable is eggs, followed by coffee, and cereal. 42% of people in the survey also said bacon is one of their top go-to breakfast options.
- 29% of us like avocado toast. And men between 25 and 34 like it more than any other demographic.
- People who eat breakfast work an average of 50 minutes longer before they need a snack break.
- People who enjoy savory breakfast foods like bacon and eggs are more likely to prefer rock music . . . science fiction . . . and cats. They’re also more likely to be night owls, and more likely to HUG people a lot.
People who enjoy sweet breakfast foods like waffles are more likely to listen to pop music . . . watch action movies . . . wake up early . . . and prefer dogs over cats.
“Harry Potter” star Daniel Radcliffe says the worst thing about being in the US is not being able to get a proper English breakfast. He’s enjoying his career and the opportunities it gives him, but he admitted when he’s in the US he misses the traditional morning meal, which usually includes a combination of bacon, fried egg, sausage, mushrooms, baked beans, toast and grilled tomatoes.

A Court in Germany Has Ruled That Hangovers Count as an “Illness”
Go ahead and take a SICK DAY next time you’re too hungover to go into work. And if your boss has a problem with it, tell them to take it up with the Germans.
A court in Frankfurt, Germany just ruled on a case and they concluded that hangovers count as an “ILLNESS” . . . because illnesses should include, quote, “even small or temporary disruptions to the normal state or normal activity of the body.”
And yes, that’s GREAT timing for that decision in Germany . . . since Oktoberfest just kicked off.

Want to Change Someone’s Mind? Use This Philosopher’s 350-Year-Old Trick
Convincing someone they’re wrong can seem impossible, especially on social media. But here’s a trick you can use that someone came up with 350 YEARS before Facebook was a thing . . .
Blaise Pascal (pronounced Blaze Pass-KAL) was a French philosopher and mathematician in the 17th century who dealt with probabilities.
And he figured out that if you want to change someone’s mind, you can increase your odds by first focusing on how they’re RIGHT.
Basically, we all want to feel smart, and our egos don’t like being wrong. So if you want to win an argument, you should focus on stuff you agree with first.
It butters the person up, so they’re not so standoffish. Then they’ll be more receptive when you bring the hammer down and point out the things you DON’T agree on.
Pascal also realized that we’re more likely to concede a point if we feel like we’ve arrived at the truth OURSELVES, with minimal help. Which is why just telling someone over and over again that they’re wrong doesn’t work very well.

- You never know what’s going to go viral, right? A TikTok video of a 16-year-old Missouri girl giving a “grammar lesson” on the Oxford comma has been racking up hits on Twitter.
She’s holding up a whiteboard with the sentence, “I’d like to thank my parents, Batman, and Superman.” With a comma after parents and Batman.
That sentence means she’s thanking all three of them.
But then she ERASES the Oxford comma, which in this case is AFTER the word Batman. That changes the sentence to mean that her parents are Batman and Superman.
So, she’s thanking her parents, who are Batman and Superman.

JON PARDI HAS WORKED TOWARD ‘HEARTACHE MEDICATION’ FOR THE LAST THREE YEARS
Jon Pardi is counting down the last few days until the release of his new studio album, Heartache Medication, on Friday (September 27th). He’s more than ready to get the new music into the hands of his fans considering a lot of this material is several years old.
Jon tells us he didn’t waste any time in writing for this new album immediately after turning in his 2016 album, California Sunrise. [“I was always writing after California Sunrise was done. I mean, I think I turned in the record and we wrote the next day for Heartache Medication. California Sunrise, we had a three-year life out of that and that’s amazing, but I was always working on a new record. I wanted to work on this record in three sessions to break up the time, instead of being like, ‘We need a new record. We need it now!’ I didn’t want that to be a thing, and three sessions, a lot of fun, and it was a very thought out record.”]
FAST FACTS
His Heartache Medication Tour kicks off on October 1st and 2nd at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. Both shows are already sold out.
SAM HUNT FAME

LUKE BRYAN KICKS OFF ‘FARM TOUR’ TONIGHT – (09/26/2019)
Luke Bryan kicks off his 11th consecutive Farm Tour tonight (Thursday, September 26th) at the Statz Brothers Farm in Marshall, Wisconsin. This year, he’ll be joined by Cole Swindell, Mitchell Tenpenny, the Peach Pickers and DJ Rock.
More than 100,000 fans have attended the tour each year since its inception in 2009, and it continues drawing more and more fans. Luke tells us: [“The Farm Tour has grown throughout the years, and the fact that we can set a stage up in a hayfield or some kind of field and people flock to it is what I envisioned when I created Farm Tour, and then obviously help some kids with scholarships and stuff like that. But the Farm Tour just really an exciting time to be able to just be out on a farm on a Fall night. Sometimes it’s cool and everybody’s got, it’s perfect jacket weather and everybody’s just enjoying music and having fun, and it’s happening in these little towns.”]
Luke will continue giving back to farmers by awarding college scholarships to students from farming families who are attending local colleges or universities near the tour stops. To date, more than 60 scholarships have been granted.
