Today is Ask A Stupid Question Day which was started by teachers in the 1980s. It’s supposed to encourage kids to ask more questions, even if they think they’re dumb. Here’s the scene from “Heathers,” when Winona Ryder asks Christian Slater a stupid question.
Today Is National Ask a Stupid Question Day . . .
Apparently, today is National Ask a Stupid Question Day.
In honor of the day, some teachers shared the dumbest question they ever heard. And here are some highlights . . .
- “Are bears still real?”
- “Can you get from America to Africa on a jet ski?”
- “What are those pyramid shaped things in Egypt called?”
- “If there’s a speed of light, what’s the speed of dark?”
- “Is breast milk 1% or 2%?”
- “If you’re sterile, can you pass that on to your children?”

GOOD NEWS
Brenda Irizarry works for the TSA at Juneau International Airport in Alaska. And she was at work last week when she heard people yelling for help.
It turned out a 26-year-old woman with special needs was CHOKING on what turned out to be a grape. And EMTs weren’t there yet.
So Brenda did the Heimlich maneuver . . . and saved her life.
The woman’s parents wrote a letter to a newspaper in Juneau, because they wanted Brenda to get credit for it.
And the TSA released a statement this week praising her for her “quick action.”

STUDY: PEOPLE WHO DRIVE THIS CAR ARE MOST LIKELY TO HAVE SPEEDING TICKETS
Some people fit their stereotypes more than others.
Car insurance finder company Insurify looked at more than 1.6 million quote requests, which required applicants to note if they had a speeding ticket on their record.
They found overall, 11.28 percent of respondents said they did, but the owners of several vehicle models had a lot more than that. Among people driving the Subaru WRX, a high-performance compact sedan, 20.12 percent said they had speeding tickets– the most for any car model.
That model was followed by the Scion FR-S (19.09), Volkswagen GTI (16.92), and Hyundai Genesis Coupe (15.75) sports cars. There weren’t any clear patterns related to brands, but the top ten vehicles for speeding all had price bases under the estimated average of $37,285.

What’s a ‘Micro-cation’ and Why Are Millennials Obsessed with Them?
There’s a new travel trend otherwise known as a micro-cation, and millennials are making the most out of them. So, how exactly does a micro-cation work?
If we’re going off a normal workweek, opting to take off a Friday here or a Monday there extends the average two-day weekend into a three-day reprieve. That means you could leave after work on Thursday and return Sunday night, enjoying an exciting (or relaxing—your pick) two-and-a-half days on vacation while missing only one day of work.
While trends in travel once revolved around lengthier timelines, 72 percent of millennials took at least one micro-cation in the last year, while 29 percent said they took three micro-cations during that same time period. Considering the rise of affordable flights, it’s not surprising that people want to experience more and more and still be able to make rent.
But there’s also the fact that 25 percent of millennials feel “vacation shame,” which makes requesting time off work a mental hurdle. But…requesting only one or two days seems far more palatable, right? The moral of the story? Brief or lengthy, vacation is in the eye of the beholder.

10 Richest Country Stars
The site THE RICHEST.COM has a list of the wealthiest country stars. And we’re talking their net worth, not what they’ve made over the past year.
Naturally, a lot of them are raking in cash from more than just music sales and touring . . . they may have their own businesses, endorsement deals, brands, record labels, and have done movies and TV shows.
Here’s the Top 10, along with their age, and estimated current net worth:
- Dolly Parton, 73, $500 million
- Shania Twain, she’s 54 today, $400 million
- Toby Keith, 58, $365 million
- Garth Brooks, 57, $330 million
- George Strait, 67, $300 million
- Kenny Rogers, 81, $250 million
- Kenny Chesney, 51, $190 million
- Reba McEntire, 64, $95 million. This appears to be a three-way tie, with . . .
- Alan Jackson, 60, $95 million
- Brad Paisley, 46, $95 million
Brad is the youngest person on this list, but if Taylor Swift was still country, she’d blow him out of the water. Taylor is 29, and is reportedly worth $400 million, which would rank her 2nd or 3rd on this list.

BRANTLEY GILBERT SAYS LEAVING KIDS AT HOME ‘RIPS’ HIM UP
Brantley Gilbert is having a doubly tough time leaving home to head out on the road now that infant daughter Braylen Hendrix has joined the family. It was hard enough to leave his nearly two-year-old son Barrett, who Brantley tells us has sort of figured out when dad’s about to leave and is none too happy about it. [“Every time I leave the house, he’s figured out now when that’s happening. He knows if I start walking my bag up to the bus – cause the bus stays at the house, but if I take stuff up there he kinda starts figuring it out a little bit. The worst is when I have to leave during the day when he’s awake. He doesn’t really like it when I get in my truck and go places, but when I load up on that bus, he knows it’s going to be for a minute. And man, he like grab my leg and, you know, just, ‘Da-Da,’ and aww man, Dude, it ripped me up.“]
Brantley’s going to have a busy schedule ahead of him to promote his new album, Fire and Brimstone, which will be released on October 4th.
