No, it’s not for Halloween, but a family’s basement has been filling with blood for weeks in Iowa. The family discovered “five inches of animal blood, fat, and tissue from a neighboring meat locker” that “seeped into the basement through a floor drain.”

The homeowner says it started October 3rd and it hasn’t let up since. He says he and his family are staying with nearby relatives and hoping for dry weather soon, as the mess can’t be cleaned up until it stops coming up the drain. An environmental specialist suspects a blockage in the tile line that connects the drains as the cause. The meat locker, now pumping bio waste into a holding tank, has offered to help with cleaning costs.

A dog in Australia crewed on a lighter, started a fire in its owner’s living room, and caused over $40,000 in damage.  The owner sounds like she’s taking it in stride though.  Even one of the firefighters cracked a joke about how the dog probably just wanted sausages

TODAY IS……………….

  • “National Chocolate Day”, yes, there was also a “Chocolate Day” in July and an “International Chocolate Day in September…don’t fight it.
➢ Switzerland is one of the top countries for chocolate consumption. The Swiss consume
about 22 lbs of chocolate, per person, per year.
➢ Most cocoa comes from West Africa.
➢ Allowing chocolate to melt in your mouth produces a similar reaction to that of a passionate kiss.
➢ Cocoa beans were used as currency by the Mayan and Aztec cultures. Perhaps this is where they saying “Money grows on trees” came from.

Yellow Traffic Lights Could Get Longer Worldwide . . .

There’s a guy named Mats Jarlstrom in Beaverton, Oregon, near Portland.  And back in 2013, he was FURIOUS when his wife got a ticket from a red light camera.

He got the ticket 0.12 seconds after the light switched from yellow to red, and he believed she didn’t have enough time to make it through the intersection.

Mats is originally from Sweden, and he’d studied electrical engineering there, so he went to the Oregon State Board of Examiners for Engineering and Land Surveying to argue that yellow lights should be extended.

They ignored him, and fined him $500 for not having a professional engineering license.  That put a stop to his quest.

Well . . . a federal judge overturned that fine earlier this year, so the mission was BACK ON.  And now Mats has taken his proposal to the Institute of Transportation Engineers, which sets the official traffic light guidelines for 90 countries.

He is proposing that, based on modern roads and cars, it makes sense to extend yellow lights from 3.2 seconds to 4.5 seconds.  And if they accept his proposal next year, yellow lights around the world could get longer.

GOOD NEWS

There are some coincidences that are SO crazy, you’ve got to chalk them up to divine intervention.  And this is DEFINITELY one of ’em.

A 25-year-old guy named Tyler Moon from Eden Prairie, Minnesota was running in a 10-mile race earlier this month in Minneapolis.  And instead of having his name printed on his bib, he had it say “Jesus Saves.”

Well, around the eighth mile of the race, Tyler COLLAPSED.  It turned out he had an undiagnosed irregular heartbeat, which caused him to have a HEART ATTACK.

But Tyler was saved . . . by Jesus.

Literally.  A 43-year-old guy named Jesus Bueno from Lakeville, Minnesota was running behind him.  And Jesus is a registered nurse.  So he stopped running, told someone to call 911, and started performing CPR on Tyler.

He kept Tyler alive until the paramedics got there, and they used a defibrillator to get Tyler’s heart back into its regular rhythm.

Tyler wound up breaking five bones in his face when he fell, but he says he feels grateful to be alive . . . and thankful to Jesus and all the other strangers who helped save his life.

30 CRICKETS OR IT’S FREE:
An expert says that most pizzas will be made using crushed-up insects within 20 years.

And that’s not all. Tom Cheesewright, an applied futurist (which is a real thing – he helps paying clients predict the future), says not only will your ’za contain bug-based dough, it could also feature lab-grown meats and cheese and be charred by lasers.

Oh, and it won’t be cooked. It’ll be printed out by a robot chef. Cheesewright says that as restaurants begin to choose more sustainable ingredients, “The food we eat in 20 years may well look very similar to how it does today, but its journey to your plate will have been totally transformed.”

He says that even replacing 25% of the grain currently used for bread with a protein-packed alternative such as crickets could transform our reliance on resources such as water, energy and land.

  1. MLB

I don’t even want to know how much two beers cost at the World Series . . . but last night, Washington Nationals fan Jeff Adams was willing to take a baseball to the chest . . . rather than drop the two beers he was holding.

It was a home run hit by Yordan Alvarez of the Houston Astros, and it was coming directly at him.  But he was holding two BUD LIGHTS and didn’t want to sacrifice them.  So he took the ball to the chest like a CHAMP.

The Astros won the game 7 – 1

After the Nationals won the first two games in Houston, they dropped all three straight at home.  They’re headed back to Houston for Game Six on Tuesday.

Kip Moore Gym Workout

Men’s Health” did a “Gym and Fridge” video with KIP MOORE.  It started with a workout, which featured free weights, dumbbells, kettlebells, and even those gymnastic rings.  Turns out he’s also a solo act in the gym.

Quote, “I’ve never had a trainer.  I’ve always tried to figure out how my body responds the best . . . and I feel like I’ve learned my body through the years, and knowing what it needs, and I don’t like listening to anybody tell me how to work out.”

The “mind-body” thing came up, and I enjoyed his answer to that.  He said, quote “Keeping my mind healthy is a whole ‘nother animal.  I’ve always been a bit of a BASKET CASE.  [I] try to meditate, I try to pray.”

He added, “But I will say that [working out] keeps me from going crazy.  This is my sanity, getting here every day for about an hour-and-a-half and getting at it.”

When they finally got to his fridge, he pointed to the eggs that he eats every morning . .  plus his avocados, tomatoes, and all-natural almond butter.  He also made sure to let us know that he eats TWO lunches every single day.  (???)

And then it got real, when they showed his massive bag of M&Ms and asked if he ever eats “unhealthy.”  Quote, “If I’m gonna be really bad I’m going to eat that whole bag of M&Ms and then if I’m done with that, I get the old school fudge pops.”

I just wrote my butt off, man, and I asked the heads here at the label, I was like, ‘If I can get it done, can we put an album out in 2019,’ and they’re like, ‘Yeah, if you can get it done, no problem! No stress either way, it’s cool,’ and so I just went to the drawing board and did what I do best which is make music. It’s just perfect timing, too.”]
