On Today’s Show
October 29, 2019 8:59 amA woman in England named Lisa Graves has had the hiccups for 12 years. They started when she was pregnant with her first child, but they never went away. Doctors say it’s the side effects of a minor stroke she had during pregnancy, although she never felt a thing, and has no other issues.

People are upset after a website called DreamEnglish.com changed the “Alphabet Song” and slowed down the “L-M-N-O-P” part to make it easier for kids to learn.
The song was first posted back in 2012, but Twitter just found it.

GOOD NEWS
Hurricane Dorian hit the Bahamas as a category five storm. So it’s amazing this is even possible.
A group called Big Dog Ranch Rescue has been searching for animals trapped under the rubble and they found a dog that somehow survived for a month.
A drone with an infrared scanner spotted him. Then rescuers found him pinned under an air conditioner, surrounded by rubble, after he survived for a month on nothing but rain water. (They found him in the Abaco Islands, just east of Grand Bahama.)
He was rail thin and weak, but alive. And he immediately ate a can of cat food they had for him. They flew him to an animal hospital near West Palm Beach, and he’s doing a lot better now. They decided to name him “Miracle,” for obvious reasons.
He’s the 138th dog they’ve saved in the Bahamas. And as soon as he’s healthy, they’ll put him up for adoption.

Thieves Steal a Duffel Bag . . . Not Realizing It’s Filled With Pythons
Some thieves broke into a car in San Jose, California on Saturday and stole a duffel bag.
But they didn’t realize what was inside: FOUR PYTHONS and a rare lizard.
The bag belonged to a reptile breeder named Brian Gundy, and he’d just given a talk at a library.
Brian says the snakes and lizard in the bag are worth about $5,000, but mostly he wants to get them back because he’s worried about them.
He’s afraid that when the thieves opened the bag and saw the snakes, they might’ve just abandoned them.
Quote, “Not everyone knows how to take care of reptiles. I have a concern for them. The sad thing too, it happened on my birthday . . . these are animals that I hatched. They are my babies.”
TSA Stops a Woman for Carrying 20 Bags of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos in Her Bag
A woman named Emily Mei tweeted a video from when TSA at LAX airport in Los Angeles stopped her . . . because she had 20 bags of FLAMIN’ HOT CHEETOS in her carry-on. Her Louis Vuitton carry-on, funny enough.
She says she had all the bags because she was going to visit friends in South Korea where Flamin’ Hot Cheetos are hard to find, so they asked her to bring some.
But the TSA thought it was suspicious that ALL she had in her bags were the Cheetos, so they inspected them one-by-one . . . before they finally let her and the Cheetos get through.

Netflix Knows You’re Sharing Passwords . . . And They Are Going to Crack Down
You THINK you’re getting away with sharing Netflix passwords . . . but you’re not. Netflix knows you’re doing it, and they will crack down . . . at some point . . . maybe.
This week, a Netflix exec said that they’re “monitoring” accounts they believe are being shared . . . and they’re looking into, quote, “consumer-friendly ways” of preventing it from happening.
It’s unclear what that means . . . but it MIGHT just mean that they’re weighing whether it’s even worth inconveniencing paying customers by trying to chase down people who are trying to beat the system.
And maybe they won’t bother. Netflix says they’re not making any changes yet.
For what it’s worth, Disney+ is expected to have tighter restrictions than Netflix.

IT’S WORTH A SHOT:
With some experts predicting a nasty flu season beginning this fall, this might be a good time to answer that age-old question: When is the best time to get your flu shot?
The Center for Disease Control recommends people in North America receive their flu shots by the end of October. Why? Flu generally starts to spread as the weather cools down, partially because the influenza virus has a protective coating that needs cold temperatures to stay intact.
The idea is to be protected from the virus before that happens, and it takes about two weeks after you’ve received the shot for the body to build up its protective store of antibodies. Children between 6 months and 8 years old need two doses spaced four weeks apart, so they should start even earlier — basically as soon as the vaccine is available.
The CDC also reminds you that even if you aren’t able to get the shot by the end of this month, you should still do so ASAP, because even receiving your protection late is better than none at all.

MAREN MORRIS RECEIVES PLATINUM FOR ‘GIRL’
Maren Morris had just stepped off the stage at a concert in New Orleans when she was handed a plague verifying that her single, “Girl” had sold two million copies.
[I hope that when people listen to Girl, they can feel like they can except themselves a little bit more. And quiet that inner critic that we all have and know and love. Even though it’s called girl, it’s actually saying to all sexes that you are enough.]
FAST FACTS
This Platinum hit was the lead single from Maren’ sophomore album GIRL which debuted #1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums. The album broke the record for the largest streaming week ever for a studio country album by a woman. Morris is the most-nominated artist for the 2019 CMA Awards airing on ABC on November 13.
CARRIE UNDERWOOD SAYS THIS YEAR’S CMA AWARDS WILL HAVE ‘HEARTFELT’ TONE
Carrie Underwood reveals that this year’s CMA Awards will have a more thoughtful tone than in previous years when she co-hosted with Brad Paisley. The show won’t necessarily be stripped of its comical moments, but Carrie tells us that she and her special co-hosts Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton are focused on celebrating the format’s formidable women. [“It’s definitely gonna be heartfelt. The whole tone this year is obviously taking a look at women in country music and I love the fact that there’s a theme happening. I hope that’s kind of something that maybe we adopt for future CMAs. It probably makes things harder for everybody else, but obviously Dolly and Reba and myself will all have our moments of — I don’t want to say comedy — but I feel like Dolly and Reba are both so good at those like one-liners that just kill so I can’t imagine there not being some of those in there.”]
The CMA Awards will be held at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on November 13th and air live on ABC.
Performers and presenters will be announced in the coming weeks.
