On Today’s Show
November 5, 2019 9:35 amAn Arizona man who spent three years building a pyramid from 1,030,315 pennies demolished the structure and cashed in the pennies at his credit union. Cory Nielsen, known on YouTube as the Penny Building Fool, finished his penny pyramid in the spring and had the structure, which did not include any glue or other adhesive, examined by a Guinness World Records official to verify it beat the record previously set in Lithuania, where a pyramid was assembled from just over 1 million pennies. Nielsen demolished the pyramid after the record was verified and Monday he loaded 6,000 pounds of coins into a pair of cargo vans. “Today, I am turning in 1,030,315 pennies,” he told KSAZ-TV. The pyramid netted Nielsen $10,303.15

Door to door milk delivery from local dairies was something that was taken for granted in the 1950s and ‘60s, but it just might be on its way back into vogue – and NOT via drone. As many shift to more sustainable ways of living, avoiding unnecessary plastic and waste, in the UK, the milkman is making a comeback. Some London dairies are reporting a dramatic increase in demand for their glass bottles since 2018, and they say that’s because environmentally-conscious young adults are willing to pay a little more for the service. With close to a 25% increase in two years, doorstop deliveries are now estimated to make up 3% of all milk sales in the UK.

WE WISH YOU AN EARLY CHRISTMAS:
Get set to bust out the Christmas decorations this weekend, because, apparently, it’s good for you.
A new report says that decorating your home for Christmas early, even right after Halloween, can make you a happier person.
The report, which is an analysis of a number of previous studies, shows that decking your halls early boosts your spirits because it tends to trigger pleasant childhood memories, and makes people feel more social.
It also encourages us to want to give, and to do good things for others.
People with festive homes are seen to others as “more friendly”, and the decorations can lead to positive conversations with neighbors.

GOOD NEWS
An older guy named Sam Pratt recently got some good news after a yearlong battle with cancer. His doctors told him he’s in remission, and he’s got a lot of life left to live.
So he decided to celebrate by taking his EXTENDED family on a trip to Hawaii. And he didn’t have to spend a dime on plane tickets.
Apparently he used to travel for work. Because he had over a MILLION frequent flyer miles with Southwest. And that was enough to buy plane tickets for himself . . . plus THIRTY-THREE family members.
His kids and grandkids all got to go. And with that many people, Sam’s good news wasn’t the only thing they had to celebrate.
While they were there last week, they also celebrated several birthdays . . . a few anniversaries . . . and even had a gender reveal party.
Sam says he decided it was the best gift he could give everyone, because of all the new memories they get to come home with.

South Korea Cab Driver Returns Lost $100,000 to Customer
A South Korean taxi driver returned more than $100,000 to a customer who left the money in a cab last week. Lee Jun-young, 60, a Seoul-based cab driver, found the cash in the back seat of his taxi. Lee discovered a mobile phone, and about $86,000 in cash. Another $17,000, in the form of checks, was found inside the bag.
As Lee was going through the bag, the phone rang. The call was from a local police station, where the customer had reported his missing bag and cash.
Lee drove to the police station, where he returned the cash to the customer, who was waiting at the location. The call and return of the bag took place in about 10 minutes, according to the police. According to the National Taxi Association, Lee began working as a driver in 2015.
The group said the mayor of Seoul has previously recognized Lee for his integrity, and for returning countless lost items, including mobile phones.

The New York Giants were playing pretty well in the first half last night on “Monday Night Football”. That is, until a black cat ran across the field, and stayed on it for a while. After that, the Giants had some bad luck, like an interception, a fumble, and with only 20 seconds left, another fumble that got run in for a touchdown by the Dallas Cowboys. Here’s a quick montage of when it all went bad.

OLD DOMINION ALBUM DEBUTS AT TOP OF BILLBOARD COUNTRY CHART
Old Dominion debuts at Number One this week on the Top Country Albums chart with their self-titled third album. It’s the largest-streaming album debut by a country band this year with 13.7 million on-demand audio streams.
The feat reinforces the band’s sense of confidence they had going into the make of Old Dominion. Trevor Rosen tells us: [“Once you build on some success — you know, we had a couple hit albums, we had some awards — you do hit a point where there is a confidence in the fact that if this is all we ever do this was great and it’s working, so you feel comfotable that you’re doing something right and you have a little confidence in your own ability, but then also I think the way the album was shaping up, that built the confience even more.”]
The band co-produced the album for the first time in their career alongside longtime collaborator Shane McAnally.
Old Dominion will take over the famed Plaza on NBC’s Today show on Nov. 12th, as well as an appearance on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!.They are also set to perform on the CMA Awards in Nashville on Nov. 13th.

HOOTIE & THE BLOWFISH’S DARIUS RUCKER ‘SHOCKED’ BY SUCCESS OF 2019 TOUR
Hootie & The Blowfish hadn’t done a full-fledged tour together in well over a decade so when their manager, Clarence Spalding, suggested they hit the road, lead singer Darius Rucker had his doubts. The band recently wrapped up the Group Therapy Tour, their most successful to date, but as Darius tells us, he thought they were setting themselves up for failure. [“We had a meeting to decide if we were gonna do it or not. It was with Clarence and we were all sitting around and I said in no uncertain terms that I just did not think this was gonna work (band laughs). In no uncertain terms. I made it perfectly (clear), cause I remeber what it was like when we stopped 15 years ago. We were playing 4,000, 5,000 seaters. I remember that, so I was like, ‘I’ll do it cause I said I’d do it but I don’t get it,’ and the day tickets went on sale I called Clarence and said, ‘I’m sorry, you’re right.’ It was shocking to me that this is the biggest tour we’ve ever done, and there was a moment in our life where we were the biggest band in the world and this is the biggest tour we’ve ever done. That was crazy.”]
It’s not over for Hootie & The Blowfish — the group will release their first album in 14 years on November 1st. The project, called Imperfect Circle, features their brand new single, “Hold On,” which was co-written by Chris Stapleton.
FAST FACTS
Hootie & The Blowfish’s last studio album was Looking For Lucky in 2005.
Their earliest hits were “Hold My Hand,” “Let Her Cry,” and “Only Wanna Be With You.”
