A 14-year-old in Pennsylvania came up with a video projector system to install in cars that basically eliminates blind spots.  She recently debuted it at a science fair for super-smart kids and won the $25,000 grand prize.  Now car companies are looking into offering it as a feature.

A Michigan mother of five is facing up to 93 days in court, all over a couple of overdue library books. After attempting to use the printer, Melinda Sanders-Jones learned that she was not only banned from the Charlotte Library, but there was a warrant out for her arrest. The whole ordeal nearly cost her a promotion at work, after the issue was revealed through a routine background check. She says she returned the books but the library claims she ignored warnings but Melinda says she never received them as she moved and changed her phone number.

She is hoping to get the charges dropped by her hearing TODAY

Dwayne Johnson as a fighter? Art will imitate life when The Rock produces and stars in “Smashing Machine”, a biopic of retired UFC fighter Mark Kerr. Johnson made his name as The Rock when he competed as a wrestler in WWE, but will enter the world of mixed martial arts with the feature about Kerr, a pioneering fighter who was widely regarded as the world’s best during his career. The film will have a darker side from Johnson’s usual roles in action and comedy features, as Kerr struggled with an addiction to painkillers.

TODAY IS……………….

  • “Hug A Bear Day”, it isn’t about the big fuzzy beasts that roam the forests munching on nuts and berries.  Hugging one of those could in fact lead to a very bad day. This day is about our loyal, trusty fuzzy stuffed Teddy Bear.

HOW TO KEEP YOUR POPPY FOM FALLING OFF:
➠ Eraser:  Tear or cut off a bit of an eraser, push the pin through your coat then add the eraser bit to the end, and voila! (Note: In this case, white-out is a poor substitute for an eraser.)

➠ Duct Tape:  Either push your poppy through your coat and tape the pin down, covering the entire needle, or push the pin through, then wrap tape around the needle, preventing it from falling out. (And if duct tape won’t do it, it would be reasonable to believe that NOTHING will…)

➠ Safety Pin:  Pull your poppy’s pin out entirely and replace it with a safety pin.

➠ Lapel Pin:  Remove the needle and push through a flag pin. Then take the back and clasp it down, securing the poppy in place.

➠ Bend the Pin:  Push the pin through your jacket. Then using a pair of pliers, carefully bend the needle so that it won’t easily slip out. (Or slip in – to your skin!)

➠ Weave the Pin:  Try weaving the pin through your coat material. (Then sit back and watch the magical “unweaving”)

GOOD NEWS

Halloween is NOT your dentist’s favorite holiday.  But one dentist in Ohio makes the most of it each year . . .

Dan Carmichel has a dental practice in Independence, Ohio, near Cleveland.  And each year, he BUYS kids’ extra Halloween candy from them, then donates it to the troops. If the kids show up in costume, he buys their candy for $2 a pound.  If they show up without a costume, it’s $1 a pound.

He donates all of it to a group called Operation Gratitude that sends up to HALF-A-MILLION pounds of candy to service members deployed overseas each year.

Some of the candy also goes to first responders.  Then they hand it out to kids in underprivileged communities, because a lot of them don’t get a chance to go trick-or-treating.

HAPPINESS IS…
A Reddit thread recently asked people “What little things keep you happy?” Here are some of the best responses:

⇒ “The sound of my dog following me around the house. I get up, he gets up. I hear his little feet tapping on the floor and his metal collar and tags clinking together…it’s perfect.”

⇒ “Whenever someone tells me that a certain thing reminded them of me, or that they thought of me after looking at something.”

⇒ “When my husband takes the time to brush the snow off my car, even though it’s early and he really doesn’t have to. It makes my heart smile that he thinks of me.”

⇒ “Eating good comfort food while starting an episode of a series that you’re bingeing, knowing that there are hundreds more unseen episodes waiting.”

⇒ “Watching a bird take a bath. They look like they enjoy it so much.”

⇒ “The beauty of the stars and planets, especially on a cool, crisp night.”

GARTH BROOKS HOLDS ‘DIVE BAR’ VIDEO UP AGAINST HIS CLASSICS

Garth Brooks premiered his first music video in 12 years on Friday (Nov. 1st) and the clip accumulated over 26 million views on Facebook in just 72 hours. The video for his and Blake Shelton’s climbing single, “Dive Bar,” has the band taking a literal dive underwater.

Garth says he’s as proud of this video as any. [“I think you’re gonna be able to compare it to “The Red Strokes,” “The Thunder Rolls,” “More Than a Memory” – all those ones that we’ve kind of — I hate to say this ‘cause it sounds egotistical. Forgive me if it does — Kinda we’ve become known for doing videos of this kind. ‘Cause we don’t do a lot! So, unless it’s something, pretty much, that brings another whole dimension to the song, we’re not gonna do it. This one . . . this one brought a third, fourth and fifth dimension to the song.”]

Garth’s The Legacy Collection vinyl boxed set was also released on Friday.

FAST FACTS

Garth and Blake will perform “Dive Bar” live on the CMA Awards on November 13th on ABC.

Garth is also nominated for CMA Entertainer of the Year.

JASON ALDEAN’S SON IS MAKING THE CONNECTION BETWEEN HIS DAD & THE ENTERTAINER

Jason Aldean‘s son, Memphis, will be two next month and he’s about to the stage where he kind of gets what his dad does for a living. Jason tells us Memphis makes some sort of connection between who he is on stage and off, and he definitely knows his music. [“You know, he’s getting to the point now where like if he hears one of my songs come on he knows. I mean, he knows ‘Dada sing,’ that’s what he says so he’s starting to put it together, so he’s gotten to the point where he sees me at home and then he sees me like with the hat and everything and he’ll be like, ‘Dada, Dada too,’ like he hasn’t quite figured it out but he knows that I’m both of those guys.”]

Jason and his family dressed up last night (Thursday, October 31st) in the Game of Thrones theme, with Memphis and his little sister, Navy, sporting dragon costumes.

On Wednesday (October 30th), Jason played a free pop-up concert at his Jason Aldean’s Kitchen + Rooftop Bar in downtown Nashville.
