On Today’s Show
November 13, 2019 9:35 amA group of about 50 turkeys have been harassing the residents of an over-55 community in New Jersey. People can’t get from their car to their front door without being attacked. They say it sounds like a funny story, but it’s not funny if you live there.

Women in Japan are fighting back against workplaces that ban female employees from wearing glasses to work. Using a hashtag which translates to “glasses are forbidden”, the viral backlash comes after a recent TV program that spotlighted the many companies which ban female workers from wearing glasses on the job. Employers mostly cited appearance-based reasons for not letting women workers wear their eyewear, including a retail chain’s management who felt that female shop assistants had a “cold impression” when they wore frames. Airlines cited safety reasons and traditional restaurants said they clashed with traditional outfits. The latest workplace controversy in Japan follows backlash earlier this year over corporate dress codes that included requiring women to wear makeup and high heels to work.

ENTERTAINMENT
The sand in the hourglass may be running out for “Days of Our Lives”. All of the actors have been released from their contracts, and the show is on “indefinite hiatus.” But that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s doomed.
“Days” shoots months in advance, so there are enough episodes to keep it going until next summer. And negotiations for a return ARE underway.
Although now, nobody in the cast is obligated to come back, and if they do, they’ll have to negotiate new contracts.
“Days of Our Lives” is in its 55th season. It premiered in 1965.

John Legend was named “People’s” Sexiest Man Alive. Last night on “The Voice”, 2017 Sexiest Man Alive winner Blake Shelton presented John with a pair of DENIM BOOTY SHORTS with the word “VEGOTSMA” on the butt. You know, Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony. Then the “V” is from him winning “The Voice”. And the “SMA” is for Sexiest Man Alive.

The Launch of Disney+ Was Full of Glitches
Disney+ launched yesterday, to THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS. Apparently, there was a whole lot of GLITCHING going on.
The various issues included people not being able to access the service or some of its features. Some people couldn’t even sign up . . . or once they did, they couldn’t log on.
Some people bought Disney+ online, then couldn’t get it to load onto their Smart TVs or the PlayStation app.
Some people clicked on titles, only to find them “unavailable”. Others experienced long load times, or the app crashing once a movie or TV episode was exited out of.
By 10:00 A.M., Disney issued a statement saying, quote, “The consumer demand for Disney+ has exceeded our high expectations. We are working to quickly resolve the current user issue. We appreciate your patience.”
Another complaint that’s come up, that has nothing to do with glitching, is the fact that “The Simpsons” is presented in the wrong aspect ratio . . . which means that some of the sight gags are CUT OFF.

GOOD NEWS
A scheduling issue caused a Waffle House in Birmingham, Alabama to be short-staffed earlier this month. Only one employee showed up last Saturday night. And Saturdays tend to be crazy because of all the drunk people who come in.
We don’t know the employee’s full name, but his name tag said “Ben.” He had to take everyone’s order . . . do all the cooking himself . . . bus the tables . . . and wash the dishes. So he was totally overwhelmed.
But then around midnight, an older guy who came in to eat stood up . . . asked for an apron . . . got behind the counter . . . and started HELPING him. There’s a photo of the guy doing dishes.
He looks like he’s in his late 50s or early 60s. And at least two other customers also helped out.
One was a woman in high heels and a short, sequined dress who’d just come from a bar or event of some kind. While Ben cooked and the other customer did dishes, she took people their food, stacked cups, and bussed tables.
Another customer got photos of them, and said the whole thing was just amazing to watch.

Man Breaks Into the wrong Apartment . . .
A 33-year-old guy named Alex Rawls kicked in the door to an apartment in Oshtemo Township, Michigan last Wednesday night. Apparently he used to date someone who lived there and, for whatever reason, he was on a rampage.
But he didn’t expect what he found inside. A 36-year-old guy named Ben Ball lives there, and he was just playing video games and one of Ben’s hobbies is medieval style-combat . . . he and his buddies make videos of themselves fighting, and he had plenty of weapons on hand.
So Ben grabbed a BATTLE AXE and chopped Alex in the chest with it. They fought a little, and Alex ran off . . . a bloody mess.
The cops tracked the blood and arrested him, but he had to go to the hospital first. He’s been charged with first-degree home invasion and could get up to 20 years in prison.

Two Women Are Busted for Cheating at Church Bingo
Two women from Camden, New Jersey were busted last week . . . for cheating during church Bingo night. A church volunteer caught 71-year-old Teresa Davis and 38-year-old Keasha Brockington taping numbers onto their bingo cards to win the Bingo prize . . . which was a little under $200.
The church called the cops, and Teresa and Keasha were arrested for improper behavior.
A spokesperson from the church said it’s the first time they’ve had a cheating incident in the 20 years they’ve been running their Bingo game.

Forgotten-Surgical-Instruments
An alarming report says 553 objects were unintentionally left in Canadian medical and surgical patients between 2016 and ’18 — a 14-per-cent increase compared to data five years earlier.
The Canadian Institute for Health Information says hundreds of items such as sponges and medical instruments were left behind in patients in those two years.
Sandi Kossey of the Canadian Patient Safety Institute says the focus now needs to switch to why such avoidable injuries happen and how to prevent them.
The report also found among 23 countries measured, Canada had the highest rate of severe tears during vaginal childbirth, and the highest rate among 12 countries of avoidable complications after surgery.

Need a Favor? This Trick Increases Your Chances of Getting a Yes
The next time you need someone to do you a favor, here’s a trick that boosts your chances of getting a yes.
And you don’t have to feel too guilty for manipulating them, because it also makes them feel GOOD about saying yes.
Right after you ask for the favor, give them the option of declining by saying something like, “It’s okay if you say no.”
It doesn’t matter how you say it. You could say, “It’s fine if you can’t” or “I understand if you don’t want to.” You just have to clearly give them the option of saying no.
It works because it puts them at ease, and makes them feel like nothing’s being forced on them. So they also feel better about saying yes, because they chose to.
A study in France tested it out by having someone walk around a mall and ask people for change to pay their bus fare.
When they tacked it on at the end and gave them the choice to say no, people gave twice as much money.

BRANTLEY GILBERT’S ‘REJECTION ISSUES’ GOT IN THE WAY OF ASKING LINDSAY ELL TO RECORD DUET
When Lindsay Ell said yes to Brantley Gilbert‘s label head, Scott Borchetta‘s, request that she join Brantley on the duet “What Happens in a Small Town,” little did she know she’d be heading toward her first Number One hit. Lindsay jumped on the chance to record with Brantley, but as they tell us, Brantley was too afraid to ask for the favor himself: [“I mean, I remember getting that call from Scott and I was just so grateful and honored, really, that you’d asked me and you guys wanted me to be a part of this song. (Brantley) And she killed it. And I would have called myself, but I was afraid she’d say no. (Lindsay) I wouldn’t have said no, Brantley! Your mom could have called me, and I would have said yes. (Brantley) I have rejection issues.”]
Brantley recorded his part first, but he wasn’t able to be in the studio with Lindsay when she recorded her part, so he called, texted and Facetimed into the studio with producer Dann Huff.
“What Happens In A Small Town” is also nominated for Musical Event of the Year at Wednesday’s (Nov. 16th) CMA Awards. It’s meaningful for Brantley because it’s his first CMA nomination in seven years, but even more so for Lindsay cause it’s her first.
LUKE COMBS REALLY WANTS THAT CMA SONG OF THE YEAR WIN – (11/13/2019)
Luke Combs could be in for a big night tonight (Wednesday, Nov. 13th) at the CMA Awards where he’s up for three trophies, including Male Vocalist, Song of the Year for “Beautiful Crazy,” and Musical Event of the Year for “Brand New Man” with Brooks & Dunn. Of the three, Luke tells us he’s definitely got a personal favorite. [“I’m really excited about the CMAs this year. I’m most excited about Song of the Year, I’m just gonna be completely honest with you. Songwriting’s something I take really seriously and something that I’m really proud of and that song especially, you know, ‘Beautiful Crazy,’ is really special for me and my fiancee and it’s kind of the story of how we met and how we’re gonna end up spending the rest of our lives together which is really awesome and I would love to have that moment not only for myself but for her.”]
In addition to his nominations, Luke will be performing during the live CMA Awards broadcast which airs
on ABC beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE’S CMA NOD MAKES THEM FEEL APPRECIATED – (11/13/2019)
Florida Georgia Line is once again nominated for Vocal Duo of the Year at tonight’s (Wednesday, Nov. 16th) CMA Awards, an honor that Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard have taken home three times already.
Win or lose, being nominated is meaningful to the duo because it recognizes more than just them.[“It’s just a big night for team FGL, man. Florida Georgia Line is Brian and Tyler but there’s so much more that goes on with our team in Nashville, our band and crew on the road that make this thing run. And it really does mean a lot to us, and we don’t do it for the awards, but it’s cool to know that you’re doing something right and that people appreciate it. And our fans are the most amazing in the world, and it just really puts everything in perspective about what it’s all about and making the most of it.”]
The 53rd annual CMA Awards airs live from Nashville on ABC beginn
