A video has gone viral of an 11-year-old kid sharing his thoughts on winning a year’s worth of free Chick-fil-A.  He was one of the first hundred customers at a new store in upstate New York.  Basically, he likes fried chicken and that’s why he’s standing “here in the freezing cold.”

Mark Williamson is an offensive lineman for William & Mary University in Virginia.  And about three years ago, he signed up to donate bone marrow in case he ever matched with anyone who needed it.  It turned out he was a perfect match with an 18-year-old kid in Ohio named Rusty Plemons, who was battling leukemia.  So Mark decided to donate, even though it put his whole football career in jeopardy.  Now they’ve both fully recovered.  And they met for the first time last Friday, when Rusty showed up to one of his practices.

When people first started finding out Kristen Bell was in “Frozen” they would confuse her character for Idina Menzel’s character and say that she sang “Let it Go” . . . and she just went with it.  She said it was too awkward explaining to them she was “the other one.”

GOOD NEWS

If you’re a cat person, you’ll love this:  There’s a guy in Utah named Philip Rogich who’s trying to help as many feral cats as possible make it through the winter.

He takes old Rubbermaid coolers . . . drills a six-inch hole in one side . . . and fills them with straw.  Then he puts them around his community, so cats can get inside and ride out winter storms.

The fact that coolers are insulated means they can also keep things warm.  So they’re a perfect shelter.  And straw is great, because it stays pretty dry.

Philip didn’t come up with the idea himself.  The ASPCA website has instructions on how to build them.  But he’s inspiring more people to do it.

He uses plastic coolers because they’re sturdier, and he makes the hole using a six-inch hole saw that attaches to his drill like a normal drill bit.

Styrofoam coolers work too, and they’re even easier because you don’t need a drill.  Either way, each shelter only takes about five minutes to make.

Plants Are Ineffective At Maintaining Indoor Air Quality

Plants get a lot of credit for cleaning the air, but don’t count on them to keep the air in your home clean.

Drexel University researchers analyzed dozens of studies and found that natural ventilation does a much better job than houseplants in maintaining air quality in homes and offices. The scientists say it would take between 10 and 1,000 plants per square meter of floor space to match the air cleaning capacity of a building’s air-handling system or even just a couple of open windows in a house.

Researcher Michael Waring adds, “This has been a common misconception for some time. Plants are great, but they don’t actually clean indoor air quickly enough to have an effect on the air quality of your home or office environment.”

Scientists May Have Finally Figured Out Why We Get the Hiccups

Hiccups are incredibly irritating and they don’t seem to serve ANY purpose.  So why do we get them?

Scientists at University College London just finished up a study . . . and they may’ve FINALLY figured out why we get hiccups.

They found that when newborn babies get the hiccups, it triggers a huge wave of brain signals . . . and they teach the babies’ brains about how to regulate breathing.

And as we grow up, the hiccups stick with us, even though they don’t serve a purpose anymore.  The researchers say they’re a, quote, “hangover from early periods of our life that persists into later life.”

Eleven years later, their massively successful engagement has finally ended. Although the finality of the Donny & Marie show hung over the theater like a thick blanket on Saturday night, the Osmonds proved to be professionals, as they fought through the emotions to perform their hits.

A 23-year-old model in Australia named Erin Langmaid recently gave birth in her bathroom, and had no idea she was pregnant.  She didn’t even have a baby bump.  The baby wasn’t breathing at first, and her boyfriend called 911.  But mom and baby are both doing fine now.  Their daughter Isa weighed in at just over seven pounds. Erin and her boyfriend say they were just shocked to suddenly have a baby.

LUKE COMBS SAYS GARTH BROOKS’ PRAISE IS ‘PRETTY UNREAL’

Luke Combs got a shout out from Garth Brooks when he accepted his seventh win for Entertainer of the Year at the CMA Awards on Wednesday (Nov. 13th) night and for Luke, it was the stuff of dreams. Garth commented that Entertainer of the Year is in Luke’s future, and he told reporters backstage that the “Even Though I’m Leaving” singer will probably best his own record and pick up eight Entertainer trophies, calling him a “natural.”

Luke told reporters the whole thing was surreal: [“You know, I grew up listening to Garth. I know every song by heart and for him to say something like that is pretty unreal and the pressure’s on, I feel like, for sure (laughs).”

Luke walked away with Male Vocalist and Song of the Year for “Beautiful Crazy” wins at the CMA Awards, where he also performed his chart-topping hit “Beer Never Broke My Heart.”

MIRANDA LAMBERT TAPS TEXAS FRIENDS FOR 2020 TOUR

Miranda Lambert wraps up her all-female Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars tour this weekend and gets ready to hit the road with the guys in January on her Wildcard Tour. Of the four acts joining her — Cody Johnson, LANCO, Randy Rogers Band and Parker McCollum —  all but LANCO are from her homestate of Texas, and there’s one song on her new Wildcard album that Miranda tells us might be responsible for that: [“I am excited because this whole tour was all females and the next tour is all guys. Gotta keep it interesting. I guess I was feeling a little bit nostalgic and I might attribute that to one thing which is the song, ‘Tequilas Does’ because it’s kind of got me reminiscing about where I started. When I sing it every night, it puts me right back on the stage at Green Hall. Which I love that emotion, so I think I got a little nostalgic so I’ve got all these Texans on the road with me.]

Miranda and friends get things started on January 16th in Tupelo, MS. The Wildcard Tour runs through early May.
