The only way to get to Cape Lookout National Seashore, a 56-mile chain of undeveloped barrier islands in North Carolina’s Outer Banks, is by boat so officials were shocked when they found some unexpected new inhabitants: 3 bedraggled-looking cows making themselves at home on the sandy shores.

A park spokesman thinks they swam at least four miles to get there after Hurricane Dorian swept them out to sea. They to belong to a herd of feral “sea cows” that previously roamed Cedar Island, which is connected to the mainland by a causeway. Roughly 20 cows had freely roamed on private land on the island, and they were all gone.

Cows actually are fairly decent swimmers when they need to be. It’s not unusual for them to paddle their way to higher ground during a storm when need be.

The most likely outcome for these cows is that they will be sedated and lifted onto a boat. Then they’ll return to their old stomping grounds on Cedar Island.

Kristen Bell’s daughters already know what they’ll see in “Frozen 2” when it hits theaters on Friday. Bell admitted in an interview that she felt like being a cool mom for a moment, so she decided to spill. How did her daughters react?

She says: “They were excited and then it occurred to me that I was in breach of my contract.” Bell says she made it very clear to her kids that they not tell anyone at school anything about the movie, and to ensure the secrets would stay safe, she jokingly told her girls that all of their teeth would fall out if they “spilled the beans.”

GOOD NEWS

An iPhone lost in a South Carolina river was found underwater 15 months later and still functions thanks to a waterproof case.

Erica Bennett and her family were on a river float tour with Edisto River Adventures in June 2018 when her phone fell overboard. Bennett said her husband searched underwater, but was unable to find it. She said she thought the phone, which had treasured text messages from her late father, was gone forever.

YouTuber Michael “Nugget Noggin” Bennett was diving in the Edisto River 15 months later when he found the iPhone at the bottom of the water. “I came across something that looked like a rope maybe attached to car keys, and when I pulled it up, I saw a phone inside of a waterproof case, and I’m like, ‘no way this is unbelievable.’”

He took the phone out of the case, hooked it to a charger, and to his surprise it started up. He was able to contact the phone’s owner and return it to her. Erica Bennett said the iPhone’s screen is dimmer than it was before, but it is otherwise in good working condition.

Two DMV Workers Are Arrested for Taking Bribes to Let People Skip the Line

Two state employees for the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles were arrested on Friday . . . for taking bribes to let people skip the line.

21-year-old Alyson and 25-year-old Anna were busted for taking bribes to help a couple of people skip the line. A 42-year-old guy named Robbie paid Alyson so he could avoid having to repeatedly wait in line to transfer a bunch of vehicle titles into his name.  She also changed the sale prices so he could avoid a fee.

Anna also took a bribe so a person wouldn’t have to wait in line to transfer a mobile home into their name.

Alyson, Anna, and Robbie are all charged with bribing a public official and influencing the action of a public employee.

Professor Who’s an Expert on Money Laundering Has Been Busted for Money Laundering

There’s a 73-year-old guy named Bruce Bagley, and he’s a professor of international studies at the University of Miami.

He’s an expert on drug trafficking, organized crime, and money laundering, and was behind a book called “Drug Trafficking, Organized Crime, and Violence in the Americas Today”.

Prosecutors just charged him with . . . money laundering.  Allegedly, he laundered at least $3 million into the U.S. from criminals in Venezuela and Colombia.  And he pocketed about 10% of the money.

You’d think with all his expertise, he would’ve done a better job covering his tracks but . . . nope.  He even had one of his bank accounts shut down last year for suspicious activity, so he went ahead and opened another one to do the same thing.

He’s facing up to 20 years in prison . . . and the University of Miami has put him on administrative leave.
