On Today’s Show

At 0 and 10, The Bengals are the NFL’s only winless team.  And six weeks ago, one fan was so fed up that he decided to live on his roof until they win.  He stays up there 23 hours a day, and even EATS up there.

The guy’s name is Jeff Lanham.  He went up there on October 7th, after the Bengals lost their fifth game. He spends around 23 hours a day in a 12-foot-by-10 foot rooftop tent.  His meals are delivered by the restaurant waiters . . . and his wife stops by to do his laundry.

The tent has a heater, snacks, a cot, a sleeping bag, and a flat-screen TV, so he can WITNESS his Bengals extending his sentence by being TERRIBLE.

This happened in Newport Beach, California, which is about an hour south of L.A.  It’s an umpire at a youth baseball game arguing with some obnoxious parents.  They’ve clearly been harassing him, and he’s had enough.

It comes to a head when a woman yells, quote, “Are you mad because the kids are taller than you?”  An that’s the last straw.  He quits on the spot and leaves the field.

GOOD NEWS

There’s a 69-year-old Vietnam vet in San Antonio named Albert Brigas who’s worked at a place called Renown Auto Restoration for the past 13 years.  And he’s been trying to retire, but wanted to pay off his mortgage first.

He still had about $5,000 to go.  So he was hoping to retire sometime next year.  But last month, his boss called him into his office and said he wanted to pay it off FOR him.

Rudy Quinones owns the place, and he’s been his boss for about 13 years.  He says Albert’s always been a hard worker, and never missed a day.  So he wanted to do something nice to help him out.

Albert gave him the paperwork showing how much was left on his mortgage, just a hair under five grand.  Then Rudy went to the bank and wrote a check.

Another employee told the local news about it.  He says it “needed to be shared, so people know there are people out there who do good things.”

Decluttering Guru, Marie Kondo, Wants to Sell You Stuff

Marie Kondo has a lot going on. The decluttering guru’s new books may not have been all that shocking, considering the success of her first, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up. But her latest move might indeed surprise you: Kondo, the queen of suggesting you toss anything that doesn’t “spark joy,” wants to sell you more stuff.

As of Monday, her official KonMari website offers an online store where you can buy 125 home and self-care products. According to Kondo’s introduction to the store, “my tidying method isn’t about getting rid of things—it’s about heightening your sensitivity to what brings you joy.”

In addition to Kondo’s books and the requisite section for, yes, tidying and organizing goodies, on offer are items ranging from an $8 chopstick rest to an $86 candle and much more. “I’m not trying to encourage over-purchasing anything,” says Kondo.

Rather, she hopes that after completing her tidying method, readers will be able to make space to “choose what sparks joy for you and really cherish what you buy and what you surround yourself with.”

NOW SMUDGE CAN COME TO YOUR TABLE:
By now, you’ve definitely seem the infamous “Woman yelling at cat” meme that has been showing up on your social media feeds (over and over and over…). The meme started making rounds in May when a Twitter user put out a tweet combining Smudge the cat’s image with that of Taylor Armstrong from “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”.

It turns out that Smudge, from Ottawa, ON, isn’t always as disagreeable as one would think, judging from the picture of his disapproving gaze from a table with a plate of salad in front of him. His owner says Smudge is a sweet, shy, 6-year-old, and the famous snap happened when Smudge took possession of someone else’s spot at the dinner table, and showed his disapproval at what was being served.

And Smudge, who had 1.2 million Instagram followers at last check, is about to enter the next level of celebrity. You can now buy an official “Smudge Ugly Christmas Sweater”, showing his famous pose at a table decorated for the holidays, and the caption: “The cookies were for Santa. Shoulda labeled ’em”. Just $45 Canadian. ($35 US).

SHOOTING STARS FROM A COMET WILL BE VISIBLE FRIDAY

You’ll want to lift your gaze to the skies on Friday night (November 22nd.) Scientists say that is when a “rare celestial event” will be visible. The alpha Monocertoid meteor shower is going to be at its most impressive since 1995. The shower is the result of the Earth passing through the tail of a comet. Also known as a “Unicorn shower,” the meteors will appear in the sky near the Monoceros or Unicorn constellation– near Orion the Hunter. Experts say if the sky is clear you will be able to see the meteor shower starting about 11:50pm Eastern time in the eastern parts of North America.

Sam Hunt Got Arrested for DUI and Possessing an Open Container

SAM HUNT was arrested early yesterday morning in Nashville and charged with driving under the influence and having an open container.  Here’s what happened:  Somebody saw a car driving in the wrong lane, so they called the cops.  When the police tracked him down, he was still driving on the wrong side of the road . . . and was also swerving in and out of his lane. That’s when they pulled him over.  Nobody else was in the car. According to the report, he had bloodshot eyes and smelled of “an obvious odor consistent with alcoholic beverage.”  He also admitted he’d been drinking “recently.”  And . . . there were two empty cans of beer in the passenger seat.

The cops said he fumbled around while attempting to give them his driver’s license, even though it was sitting in his lap.  And then he tried to hand over his credit card and passport instead.

They did a field sobriety test and his blood alcohol content was .173, which is more than twice the legal limit. He was booked into jail around 6:30 A.M. . . and then released about three hours later after posting a $2,500 bond.  He has a court date on January 17th.

JASON ALDEAN RELEASES ALBUM NUMBER ‘9’

Jason Aldean has released his new studio album, 9, which features 16 new songs, including his current hit single, “We Back.” Songwriters who contributed to the album include Brantley Gilbert, FGL‘s Tyler Hubbard, Neil Thrasher, and Josh Thompson, among others.

9 is Jason’s ninth studio album, a project he’s had named since he first signed his record deal so many years ago. He tells us: [“It was just something that I kind of told myself early on in my career, ‘It’d be cool if I ever made nine albums to call the album Number 9 cause that was my baseball number when I was growing up and anybody that knows me knows I’m a huge baseball fan, played for a long time and I remember when I was in highschool I used to sign everything with my name and then Number 9 under it and it was just kind of my lucky number and I just thought it would be cool to have an album called that.”]

Jason wraps up his tour dates for the year with his Ride All Night Las Vegas run at Park Theater at Park MGM from Dec. 6 – 8.

OLD DOMINION TAKES FANS ‘BEHIND THE CURTAIN’ WITH NEW APPLE MUSIC FILM

Old Dominion takes fans “behind the curtain” of their songwriting and recording process in a new short film available exclusively on Apple Music. In Old Dominion: Band Behind The Curtain, the band recalls the stories behind some of the biggest hits they’ve written for other artists, including “Say You Do” by Dierks Bentley, “Save It for a Rainy Day” by Kenny Chesney, and “Make You Miss Me” by Sam Hunt.

While the guys are the first to admit that those songs landed where they belong, Trevor tells us there’s one that he still thinks would’ve made a great song for Old Dominion. [“There’s no real regrets but there are a couple that I usually cite — ‘Say You Do’ for Dierks Bentley, we used to play in our sets quite a bit and it sounded like a really good Old Dominion song so there’s part of me that always wonders what that would’ve sounded like had it been a single for us.”]

Old Dominion took home their second consecutive Vocal Group of the Year win at the CMA Awards in Nashville last week.

Why Does Brad Paisley Put Guitars in the Freezer?

Here’s a little detail about BRAD PAISLEY that I’m almost positive you didn’t know.  He puts guitars in the freezer.  I guess you want to know more?

Well, it came up when PEOPLE interviewed actress ASHLEY WILLIAMS.  You may know her as playing Jim’s wife on “The Jim Gaffigan show”.  Ashley is also the sister of Brad’s wife, Kimberly Williams-Paisley.

Anyway, they asked her to share a secret about Brad, and that led to the frozen guitars story.  She and Kimberly were on the phone talking about making dinner . . . and when Kimberly opened the freezer she saw three guitars inside.

She had no idea why they were there.  And if she ever found out, she didn’t tell Ashley . . . because she still doesn’t know.

We checked it out and somebody said it’s a way to “relic” guitars, as in, make them look old.  Others disagreed.  If you have a better explanation, we’d love to hear it.
