On Today’s Show
November 26, 2019 9:35 amA cop in Georgia was recently demoted after he crashed into the back of a woman’s SUV at almost 70 miles per hour back in April. She wound up in a COMA for four weeks and is still struggling with the effects of the crash.
And after the police department investigated, they found out the officer was distracted at the time . . . because he was watching a YouTube video of someone playing a
“Grand Theft Auto” video game.
The woman he hit says she’s had more than $500,000 in medical bills from the crash and she still can’t go back to work. Her attorney is talking with the county about a settlement.

This is some pretty amazing quick thinking by both a victim of a crime and a 911 dispatcher. A 38-year-old woman in Oregon, Ohio called 911 earlier this month and said, quote, “I would like to order a pizza” . . . and then gave her address.
The dispatcher’s name is Tim, and at first he told the woman it was the wrong number to call for a pizza . . . but when the woman kept talking, he realized what was ACTUALLY happening. She needed help . . . but she couldn’t say it out loud.
The woman lives with her mother. And her mother’s boyfriend is a 56-year-old guy named Simon who’d just come home drunk and was attacking her mom. And the woman didn’t want him to know she was calling 911. The Police came and arrested him for domestic violence.

GOOD NEWS
An 82-year-old woman named Willie Murphy lives in Rochester, New York.
And she was home alone last Thursday night when a guy started pounding on her door and broke in.
But he didn’t know that Willie happens to be a female BODYBUILDER with a LOT of energy. The “Today” show even did a segment on her last year.
While the guy was walking through her house, she hid in the shadows and waited. Then she jumped out . . . grabbed a TABLE . . . and BROKE it on him.
Once he was on the ground, she started jumping on him. Then she grabbed a bottle of SHAMPOO from her kitchen table, and poured the whole thing out onto his face and in his eyes.
Once he was sufficiently blinded by the shampoo, she started smacking him with a broom. And when police got there, she was trying to drag him out onto the porch.
She told the whole story to some friends while a news crew filmed it. She said she’s pretty sure the guy was happy when they put him in an ambulance, because it got him away from her.

NEWS OF THE WEIRD:
➢ A Japanese hotel is offering a room that costs only $1 per night, but there’s a catch — the guest’s entire stay is livestreamed on YouTube. Tetsuya Inoue, who took over the Asahi Ryokan hotel in Fukuoka last year, says he was looking for ways to boost business and was inspired by a British YouTuber who livestreamed his time at the hotel. Room #8 is now equipped with cameras that are always livestreaming on his YouTube channel, “One Dollar Hotel”. The feed is video-only and the cameras are pointed away from the bathroom area to give guests some privacy. Inoue says that the hotel loses money with the $1 stays, but once his YouTube channel reaches 4,000 view hours, he will be able to monetize the scheme with ads.
➢ Former McDonald’s employee Cody Bondarchuk is being hailed a “hero” after he revealed in a now-viral tweet that he secretly gave out extra chicken McNuggets for two years — unbeknownst to his employer. The 26-year-old from Edmonton, Canada says he put an extra nugget in every 10-piece box when he was employed at the fast-food chain from 2007 to 2009. Of course, Twitter went wild with comments calling Bondarchuk a “hero,” “St. Nuggets” and a would-be Nobel Peace Prize award-winner. After someone referred to him as “the Robin hood of nugz,” Bondarchuk even added the nickname to his profile bio.

There’s a New Way to Calculate Your Dog’s Age in Human Years . . . but It Sucks
You’ve heard that a “dog year” equals seven “human years.” But everyone knows it’s not really true. No, your 18-year-old dog isn’t 126. So researchers at the University of California San Diego came up with a new equation by looking at how dog DNA ages.
It involves something called a “NATURAL IOGARITHM,” which varies depending on how old the dog is. So first you have to use an online calculator to figure that out.
The other big problem is they’ve only come up with one equation so far for Labradors.
Probably because they’re the most popular breed. So it doesn’t work on other dogs.
Here’s the equation they came up with: To figure out a lab’s age in human years, first you find their “natural logarithm” number, which tends to be somewhere between 0 and 3. Then you multiply it by 16, and add 31.
If your dog is 12 years old, it means they’re 71 in human years. Not 84, which you would have gotten with the old “seven year” rule. But they’re not always younger. For example, a 7-year-old dog would be 62 instead of 49.
There’s another major flaw too, because even the researchers admit it doesn’t work for all ages. According to the formula, a one-year-old dog would be 31 . . . a two-year-old dog would be 42 . . . and a 20-year-old dog would only be 79.

HOW TO TELL IF IT’S A COLD, FLU, OR ALLERGIES:
A few tips from health experts ….
✓ Colds and the flu are viral infections that usually bring fever, aches, and fatigue.
✓ Allergies do not come with a fever.
✓ If you’re sneezing and blowing your nose endlessly, it could be a cold or allergies, but a cold will leave after a week-to-10 days. Allergies linger.
✓ Allergies are not accompanied by pains, upset stomach, or exhaustion like the flu.
✓ Symptoms for allergies include ‘allergy shiners’, where blood vessels under eyes dilate, creating dark circles; and the ‘allergy salute’, whereby people constantly rub their nose.
✓ For colds, well, grandma was right. Chicken soup really is a good remedy, though doctors are not sure why. (It’s the ‘extra love’ she puts in it.)

POOR BEATEN UP GREY CUP
Winnipeg Blue Bombers won their first CFL Championship 1990 beating Hamilton 33 – 12 and then they broke the Grey Cup
On Monday, as they paraded the trophy through the airport it became clear that the Grey Cup was in two pieces. Somebody broke it.
This isn’t the first time that the Grey Cup has been snapped in two. The 110-year-old trophy has been broken on several occasions, usually with the top of the cup breaking away from the base.
That’s what happened to Calgary in 2014, as well as the BC Lions in 2006.
In 2012, the Toronto Argonauts broke off one of the handles. The trophy’s neck needed tape to hold it back together in 1991..
The Edmonton Eskimos, for their part, have damaged it on three occasions, with a player accidentally dropping it in 1978, sitting on it in 1987, and head-butting it in 1993.
The Grey Cup survived a fire that destroyed the Toronto Argonaut Rowing Club in 1947. Calgary (in 1998) and BC (1964) have forgotten the trophy at their hotels before, while Winnipeg left a team celebration without it in 1984.
Former Argos kicker Mike Vanderjagt forgot the Cup at an Oakville bar in 1997, where it was stolen.
And finally, the Grey Cup was taken in 1969 and held for ransom — until Toronto police found it in a hotel locker.

EIGHT MILLION STREAMS FOR LADY ANTEBELLUM’S ‘OCEAN’ – (11/26/2019)
Going into the holiday week, Lady Antebellum has earned the biggest first week streams of their career with their new album, Ocean. The 13 track project has already racked up over 8 million streams and is the #1 best-selling Country album this week. And the single, “What If I Never Get Over You” is top 5 and climbing. They now go home for Thanksgiving with a lot to be thankful for. According to Charles Kelley, they even wrote a parody song about the holiday and posted it online. Here’s what he told us: [I’m not gonna lie, we did have a Thanksgiving one that we literally were piddling around with and we wrote like in 30 minutes backstage. And Dave of course, is just so fast with everything. He found like a track and we literally recorded it on this laptop called ‘Turkey Mode,’ and it’s to ‘Old Town Road.’ So, it’s like a Thanksgiving one, and we had plans to do a big video and they’ve gone by the wayside.]
FAST FACTS
Ocean also took the #2 spot on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart, as well as the top spot on iTunes.

ASHLEY McBRYDE PLOTS ‘ONE NIGHT STANDARDS’ TOUR NEXT YEAR
Ashley McBryde will hit the road on her headlining One Night Standards Tour beginning in January. The run will feature smaller venues, including theatres and clubs, which Ashley tells us are among her very favorites. [“Oh, I love little clubs. I love dive bars, biker bars, trucker bars. I love doing that stuff. That’s the hardest work you’ll really ever do because you’ve got a room full of 60 people that don’t give a crap if you’re playing a guitar or not or whether you’re a radio or a juke box, and if you can get that one guy to start bobbing his head and turn around on the bar stool, and then the next guy turns around and then you got the room . . . That’s really similar to that feeling of, ‘I got ya. I can find a way to entertain you.'”]
Ashley will spend part of 2020 on the What You See Is What You Get Tour with headliner Luke Combs.
Last week, Ashley was named New Artist of the Year at the CMA Awards.

FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE HEADED HOME FOR THANKSGIVING – (11/26/2019)
Florida Georgia Line is urging fans to take part in Giving Tuesday on December 3, as they team with Habitat For Humanity. The yearly toy drive will help get presents to children all across Tennessee. The duo is off the road for this year and have been hosting give back initiatives in in Nashville. This weekend, they look forward to some R & R with family. Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley tell us more: [I always go to Alabama. Besides my mom and sister, that’s where the rest of my family is, so we always go to Alabama, and always have growing up. And we have big dinner, lunch or dinner, usually both, both sides of the family. If there’s not any sweet potato casserole, it’s not Thanksgiving. Brian Kelley – I would agree with that. Tyler –My grandma makes the best and, I mean I can do without the turkey even, it doesn’t really bother me. But I need to have some of those good rolls with a lot of butter on it and some sweet potato casserole, for sure. Brian –I would second that, my mom makes really good sweet potato casserole. So yeah, absolutely.]
FAST FACTS
