On Today’s Show
December 20, 2019 9:35 amThere’s a 28-year-old woman named Ruby Delgadillo from Brentwood, California and she recently took her son to a barber shop.
Well . . . apparently she was NOT happy with the haircut the 63-year-old barber gave him. She argued with the barber, and he went outside to write down the license plate number of her Prius. So she RAN HIM OVER . . . and rammed him through the glass window of the store next to the barber shop. He needed surgery for a badly broken leg and she fled the scene she’s going to be charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

The world’s oldest living couple celebrated another major milestone when their senior living community in Austin, Texas, threw them a party for their 80th wedding anniversary. To celebrate their 80th year together, 106-year-old John picked up 105-year-old Charlotte in a 1920s roadster — much like he did on their first date — with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. The two met in class at The University of Texas in 1934 and married in 1939, just months after the start of World War II. The couple will officially mark 80 years of marriage on December 22.

Seth Meyers took to Instagram to share the hilarious mistake he found on his family’s holiday cards. He wrote: “Happy Holidays to Tom, Ellen and Peanut whose names were accidentally printed on the bottom of the Meyers family card!” He poked fun at the mix-up, saying that the name “Peanut” made everything OK, writing: “I’ll admit that if it was just Tom and Ellen it would have been rage-inducing but the inclusion of Peanut makes it hilarious. Is Peanut a pet? Probably. But maybe they are a small child or a live-in grandparent.”

RANDOM REPORT
- Less than 1% of people in China are left-handed. At least, that’s how many people admit it. It’s considered a biological flaw in China if you’re left-handed, so people won’t admit it, and they train themselves to do things with their right hand.
- There’s a secret room hidden behind Lincoln’shead on Mount Rushmore to store important documents.
- “Houston, we have a problem” isn’t the exact quote. When Jack Swigertwas communicating from Apollo 13, he actually said, quote, “Okay, Houston, we’ve had a problem here.”
- Chicago’s population peaked in 1950, when there were 3.6 million people living in the city. Now it’s down to 2.7 million, according to the latest Census.

GOOD NEWS
Get ready for some early Christmas magic, because this is pretty great. There’s a 13-year-old girl near Tampa named Kaitlyn Figueroa Lopez who’s autistic and nonverbal. When she was three, her doctors said she’d probably never speak.
But that changed this month. And it’s all because of her neighbor’s massive CHRISTMAS DISPLAY.
They went big this year with about 200,000 lights that are all synchronized and set to music.
And while Kaitlyn was sitting in the middle of them, she started to TALK.
First, she described some of the decorations. Then she jumped up out of her chair and yelled, “SANTA is coming!”
Her mom was totally caught off guard, because it was the first time she’d ever heard her daughter’s voice.
That was a little over a week ago, and she’s still talking. Which gives her family a lot of hope.
Also, someone from “Ellen” heard about it and got in touch. So we might be seeing them on her show soon.

NEWEST SILICON VALLEY OFFICE PERK IS SHOELESS OFFICES
Silicon Valley companies are known for their many perks designed to appeal to the Millennial workers who fill their staffs, but the newest one isn’t what you might expect — shoeless offices.
Some startups and other young firms are letting their employees walk around their offices without their shoes or even barefoot without socks on, with the intent of creating a more comfortable work environment, and it apparently doesn’t violate any health codes.
The CEOs of two companies that have the policy, human resources tech firm Gusto and productivity platform Notion, both say they grew up in shoeless households, and they want to have a comfortable relaxed atmosphere for their employees and visitors to their offices.
Some tips for shoeless offices include: have a central cubby area where people can leave their shoes; encourage wearing slippers and socks; keep the office clean; and offer company-branded socks to visitors and employees.

THE PSYCHOLOGY BEHIND OUR LOVE OF CHRISTMAS MOVIES
Holiday movies are beloved by many, and there are a few different reasons for that. Psychologists say all movies offer an “escape” from the real world, but Christmas movies in particular offer an escape into an idealized world.
Popular Science reports, “These movies offer a variety of portraits of everyday life while affirming ethical values and social mores along the way.” Watching movies like this allows viewers to work through their own fears and desires about various things, often times self-worth and relationships.
Overall, watching holiday movies can generally just make us feel good, and many of them, funny or heartfelt, bring a message that the holidays are not about rampant consumerism, but rather goodwill and family.

LUKE BRYAN AND FAMILY LOOK FORWARD TO CHILI DOG & PAJAMAS CHRISTMAS TRADITION
Luke Bryan and his family will spend Christmas skiing this year, but despite being away from home in Nashville, they will continue their Christmas Eve family traditions.
Luke tells us:[“We have a pajama night and we do chili dogs on Christmas Eve, and we’ve always done that. My mother comes up and we go shop. She makes me go shop with her, so we have to pick out all the right stuff. We have to get the proper buns, the proper wieners. It’s very important. All beef wieners for the chili dog cooking. It’s a ritual. So, we’re eating chili dogs in pajamas, and so it’s special anytime you can come up with fun traditions and hold true to them. Yeah, so cooking chili dogs in a onesie is pretty special.”]
Luke and his wife, Caroline, are in the middle of what they call “12 Days of Prankmas.” Their latest victims include pro basketball players Meyers Leonard and Jimmy Butler.
