Right before the Christmas break a substitute teacher in Massachusetts was fired after he started discussing the issue of marijuana, and started smoking weed in class.  The local news talked to a few people who were impressed the kids reported him for it.

There’s a Grinch or two in western Germany, where a few people have most certainly been naughty.

Police say thieves made off with a town fire department’s Christmas tree, lights and all.

They say the thieves cut the cables to the lights and carted away the 13-foot fir tree from outside the fire department in the town of Bell.

Police believe several people were involved in the theft because of the size of the tree.

Most-Watched Music Videos of 2019, Plus YouTube’s Annual “Rewind” Video

YouTube released their 2019 data . . . including this year’s annual “Rewind” video, which highlights the best of the year on the site.

And this year they took a different after last year’s video was UNIVERSALLY hated.  It still holds the record for the most-disliked video in YouTube’s history, with more than 17 million thumbs down votes.

So they did it nice and easy this year.  Instead of it being a new original video, it’s basically just a supercut of the most-liked videos, set to music.

They said, quote, “In 2018, we made something you didn’t like . . . so let’s see what you DID like, because you’re better at this than we are.”

RANDOM REPORT

  1. Sweden isn’t mentioned in the Swedish national anthem . . . but it IS mentioned in the Polish national anthem, since they once occupied Poland.

(Verses that DO mention Sweden have been added to the Swedish anthem over the years, which is why you might see it show up in some versions of the lyrics.)

  1. Kenny Logginswasn’t the first pick to perform “Danger Zone” for “Top Gun”.  The producers wanted Toto to do it, but they couldn’t make a deal.  Then they reached out to Bryan Adams and REO Speedwagon, but they turned it down too.

  1. The first Swiss Army Knives were made in Germany in 1891, because there was no place in Switzerland that could produce them.

GOOD NEWS

There’s a guy near Pensacola, Florida named Michael Esmond who’s a veteran.  And he owns a business now called Gulf Breeze Pools & Spas.  So he does pretty well for himself these days.  But that wasn’t always the case.

Back in the 1980s, he had trouble paying his bills.  And he went through one of Florida’s coldest winters ever with no heat.

He thought about it while he was paying his utility bills recently, because he noticed the due date on one of them was December 26th.  So he wondered how many people out there would be in the same type of situation during the holidays.

And it inspired him to pay off the “past due” amounts for THIRTY-SIX random families he’d never even met.

He spent about $4,600 on it.  Each family got a letter that said, quote, “Your past due utility bill has been paid by Gulf Breeze Pools & Spas.  You can rest easier this holiday season knowing you have one less bill to pay.”

A news station in Pensacola picked up the story.  And now a ton of people have reached out to thank him for it.  So it might actually bring in more business.

He says the point was just to help people have a less stressful holiday.  But he also wants to set an example, and hopes other businesses might follow suit.

Here’s How to Bounce Back After All the Food, Booze, and Stress of the Holidays

We’re in the home stretch of the holiday season, and if you’re starting to feel burned out, you’ll want to hear this list of tips on how to deal with all the food, booze, and stress of the holidays.

  1. Eating too much sugar.  One day of inhaling sweets isn’t going to hurt too much.  It’s gorging on pie and cookies the entire month of December that really packs on the pounds.

The best thing you can do after over-indulging in sugary foods is to go for a walk to burn off the extra calories.

  1. Eating too much salt.  Too much sodium can cause bloating and make your heart work harder than it needs to.  So if you overdo it on salt, drink more water than usual and cut your sodium intake the next day, to help your body normalize.

  1. Too many cocktails.  Dehydration is one of the main factors of a hangover, so try to drink at LEAST a glass of water or sports drink before you go to bed, to help replace lost electrolytes and normalize blood sugar. And the next morning, eat an asparagus omelet for breakfast, since certain nutrients in asparagus and eggs might help with hangovers.

  1. Disrupted sleep.  Eating and drinking too much, going to holiday parties that don’t end until late, and sleeping at a relative’s house can all mess with your sleep.

The best thing you can do is wake up at your normal time, even if you were out late or tossed and turned all night.  Otherwise you risk getting in a cycle of bad sleeping habits.  And since both Christmas and New Year’s fall on Tuesdays this year, you don’t have much time to recuperate before heading back to work.

KEITH URBAN COUNTS ON EMOTIONAL NEW YEAR’S EVE

Keith Urban is gearing up for his fourth consecutive New Year’s Eve performance in downtown Nashville. He’ll again headline the Jack Daniel’s Music City Midnight: New Year’s Eve, where he’ll be joined by Jason Isbell, Amanda Shires, The Struts, the Fisk Jubilee Singers and more. The 11th annual event will take place at the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park and is free and open to the public.

The event has obviously become sort of a tradition for Keith and his family. He tells us that while it may seem cliche, he runs the gamut of emotions every December 31st. [“Yeah, I go through every emotion on New Year’s Eve, every emotion – regret, remorse, melancholy, joy, hope, sadness, gratitude, calm, anxiety. (laughs) There’s a lot in that night for a lot of people. I’ve always been a big . . .  I love New Year’s. Nic’s not a big New Year’s Eve person. I love New Year’s Eve. The counting down is important to me and I find it huge, that demarcation of time.”]

Keith and his wife, Nicole Kidman, and their two daughters celebrated  the Christmas holiday in their native Australia.

BLAKE SHELTON’S NEW ALBUM WAS AN ‘EASY RECORD’ – (12/17/2019)

Blake Shelton‘s new album, Fully Loaded: God’s Country, was released on Friday (December 13th) and as he tells us, is probably the easiest collection of songs he’s ever assembled. [“This was one of the easiest albums I ever put together because half of it is basically a greatest hits and the there’s about maybe three songs I would consider new at this point since ‘God’s Country’ and ‘Hell Right’ were the most recent singles. That really only leaves ‘Jesus Got A Tight Grip On My Soul’ and ‘Nobody But You’ as new tracks, and then of course a cover of ‘Tequila Sheila’ which is my favorite Bobby Bare song, and so this is an easy record for me to make. It was half made when we decided to put it together.”]

The 12-song collection features seven hits from previous albums and a total of five new tracks, including a duet with Gwen Stefani.

Blake sits in the Top 20 on country radio with his latest single, “Hell Right,” featuring Trace Adkins.

BRANTLEY GILBERT SAYS NEW SINGLE IS ‘A THREE MINUTE PARTY’ – (12/06/2019)

Brantley Gilbert recently topped the charts with a duet with Lindsay Ell. Now, with the release of a new single, “Fire’t Up,” he says it’s time to take things up a notch. Brantley tells us more: [As a writer and a player, after a while you have to be careful. You do a lot of familiar things on guitar and a lot of times, your melody lines can get almost repetitive or your licks can get almost repetitive. So, we did a lot of track writin’ on this record and this was a track that Brandon Day brought to the table, and it was kind of rockin’, but it had like a vibe that we’d never done but still had a little hell raiser in there and we kind of just wrote to the mood.  And, yeah, it’s a three-minute party.]

FAST FACTS

“Fire’t Up” is on Brantley’s latest album, Fire & Brimstone.

Brantley’s new album, Fire & Brimstone, was released in October.
