Actress Anna Kendrick finally responded after a hockey player took his shot on Christmas, and basically all of hockey Twitter got behind him in support.

But New York Islanders player Anthony Beauvillier sent a simple tweet out into the void.

His tweet — “Hi @AnnaKendrick47” — began a storm of tweets at Kendrick, vouching for the 22-year-old Beauvillier’s character in hopes of catching the actress’s attention.

“He dogsat for the ENTIRE ANIMAL SHELTER last week. A real one, for sure,” wrote one Twitter user.

“Thanks for performing open heart surgery on me man,” wrote another “I appreciate it.”

“Hey man thanks for letting me use your gear during that fundraiser you held for the animal shelter to save the puppies,” wrote someone else.

After days of radio silence, Kendrick, 34, finally chimed in, tweeting that the replies have “been my entertainment for the last two days.” Neither have publicly commented further.

ENTERTAINMENT

Zac Efron reportedly nearly died just before Christmas after contracting a “form of typhoid or similar bacterial infection.” He was in Papua, New Guinea filming his new documentary “Killing Zac Efron” when he became sick and was flown to Brisbane, Australia on a “life or death flight” accompanied by medical professionals. He was then admitted “in a stable condition”. The documentary started filming on Dec. 4 and follows Efron into the jungle where he was supposed to stay off-grid for 21 days with only basic gear and a guide. On Christmas Eve, Efron flew back to the United States after being cleared by doctors.

TODAY IS……………….

  • “New Year’s Eve”, a day (or night) of celebrating the last day of the year, and the coming of the New Year. It’s a day to say “goodbye” to the old and “hello” to the new. It’s also a chance to make New Year’s resolutions, in which a person resolves to change an undesired trait or behavior, to accomplish a personal goal or otherwise improve their life

  • “National Champagne Day”, it’s fitting that champagne would be celebrated today, as it’s a staple in New Year’s Eve celebrations. Champagne is a sparkling wine, and true champagne only comes from the Champagne region of France.

TRY 12 ‘MICRO-RESOLUTIONS’ FOR THE NEW YEAR

It happens to most of us: you make a New Year’s resolution with the best intentions, but chances are you don’t make it past a few weeks or even days. CNN is proposing a new idea this year, with feature’s editorial director David Allen suggesting that people try 12 “micro-resolutions” instead, one for each month, which you commit to for just four weeks.

They can either be habits you want to to break, like eating too much fast food or spending too much time on your phone, or positive things that you want to start doing.

Allen did micro-resolutions for the past two years, the first year choosing ones to break bad habits, and the second year choosing ones to add positive habits, things like meditating, spending time in nature, reading poetry, eating whole foods, and making gestures of gratitude to people.

He found committing for just one month easier to do, and even after the four weeks were over, there were some lasting effects, such as choosing healthier snacks, meditating most weekdays, and being a better listener.

RANDOM REPORT

✓ A New Year’s Eve Ball” was first dropped in New York’s Times Square in 1907 due to a ban on fireworks. The original ball weighed 700 pounds and featured 100 25-watt bulbs.

✓ To ensure a year of good luck, firecrackers and noisemakers became tradition in order to scare away any remaining evil spirits and to ensure a brand new start.

✓ Black eyed peas, ham, and cabbage are considered good luck if you eat them on New Year’s Eve or Day because it is believed they will bring you money.

✓  Lobster and chicken are considered bad luck because lobsters can move backward and chickens can scratch in reverse, so it is thought these foods could bring a reversal of fortune.

GOOD NEWS

SantaCon was held in New York a few weeks ago which is a pretty infamous event every year where people dress like Santa, go on a bar crawl, get hammered, and cause all sorts of chaos in the city.

Some Santas were riding the Long Island Rail Road home from Manhattan when they saw two guys get in a fight:  A 45-year-old and a 22-year-old.  Those two guys fighting weren’t dressed as Santa or coming from SantaCon. The 45-year-old STABBED the 22-year-old in the leg during the fight.

So some of the SANTAS jumped in . . . took down the 45-year-old . . . and turned him over to the cops when the train got to the next stop.

Then they helped rush the 22-year-old to the hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries.

This Might Just Be the Grossest Spot in the Average Hotel Room

Here’s something you should probably know if you’re going to be staying at a hotel sometime in the next few weeks.

There are a lot of surfaces in a hotel room that are just SWAMPED with germs and bacteria . . . like the TV remote, the coffee maker, the hairdryer, even the light switches and door handles.

But a doctor at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health says one spot might be worse than ALL of those:  The CHAIR in the corner of the room.

Quote, “Chairs can often be made of hard-to-clean fabric and upholstery, and are definitely not cleaned [like] sheets and towels . . . often, stains on chairs are dabbed and rubbed, but other germs that are not noticeable to the eye remain.”

Also, people throw all sorts of things onto the chairs like their dirty clothes, shoes, and bags, which means the fabric is picking up all sorts of bacteria and germs that don’t usually get cleaned off between guests.

WHY THE HOLIDAYS WARP OUR PERCEPTION OF TIME

Many can tell you that the days between Christmas and New Year’s Day feel, well, off.

The true issue is that time is a social construct, and it gets weird over the holidays. Mashable reports, “Concepts like ‘Monday’ and ‘Friday,’ which dictate out experiences every other week of the year, lose all meaning. Days of the month become generalized into either being closer to post-Christmas or pre-New Years Eve.

The ritual of annual holidays forces us into mind-bending states of reflection and nostalgia, too, as we simultaneously feel closer to youth and more estranged from it than ever.

” Psychologists and neuroscientists agree on this, and say a similar thing happens when we go on vacation– when we lose sight of markers like the start of the workday, weekends, and bedtime, and couple that with new experiences, sights, and sounds– we get a warped perception of time.

We Wake Up in a Bad Mood 300 Days a Year?

According to a new study, we wake up in a bad mood 300 DAYS a year.  That’s basically five or six days out of every week and 82% of the year.  And here’s why . . .

  1. We wake up too cold an average of 1.24 times a week.

  1. We wake up too hot an average of 1.74 times a week.

  1. Some loud noise wakes us up 1.38 times a week.

  1. And a bad or strange dream wakes us up 1.4 times a week.

That adds up to 5.76 nights a week . . . or 300 bad wake ups a year.

The study also found we only get 91 nights of full, uninterrupted sleep per year . . . but even some of THOSE nights end with us waking up in a bad mood.
