On Today’s Show
January 20, 2020 9:35 am25-year-old Corey Cornutt and his 29-year-old girlfriend Savannah Grillot live together in California and they were sick of people in their area stealing bikes. So for several months, they’d leave a bike on their front lawn to lure thieves in. And if anyone tried to steal it, they’d chase them down . . . and beat them with BASEBALL BATS. They beat up at least four would-be thieves between July and November. But neighbors say the real number was much higher. And a few were seriously injured. Apparently some of their neighbors supported what they were doing. But they got caught after trying to rack up likes by posting the security footage on YouTube. They’re facing charges for conspiracy and assault with a deadly weapon. But none of the thieves have been arrested, because Corey and Savannah never filed any police reports about the attempted thefts.

A Toronto woman said she feels uncomfortable after her neighbours installed a deck that faces directly into her bedroom.
“I like for the light to come in through the window, so I’ll open my blinds, forget there’s a deck there and I’ll look up and I’ll see some guys looking at me,” And she says she’s been caught by the construction workers several times at various stages of undress.
The house is typically vacant aside from contractors so she’s been unable to speak with the homeowner about the issue directly. Instead, she reached out to the city and said after about 9 calls got through and gave them the address and they said they would look into it, In the meantime, she and her live-in partner said they have been keeping their blinds closed and she says it’s time to upgrade the blinds.

ENTERTAINMENT
The long-awaited third “Bad Boys” movie “Bad Boys for Life” is having a huge weekend at the box office. It’s expected to make $68.1 million over the holiday weekend.
In fact, “Bad Boys 4” has just been set in motion. Of course, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are expected to return.
On the flipside, “Dolittle” was a bomb . . . making just $30 million. That doesn’t seem bad, but it had an estimated budget of $175 million so some say it could end up losing $100 million.

GOOD NEWS
If you haven’t seen this video yet, it’s pretty great . . .
There’s a six-year-old kid near Cleveland named John Oliver Zippay. But he goes by the nickname “J.O.”
He was diagnosed with leukemia at age three. So he doesn’t really remember a time when he didn’t have cancer.
But two days after Christmas, he went through his final chemo treatment. And on his first day back at school last week, he got a STANDING OVATION.
All the kids and teachers lined the hallway and cheered for him as he walked in.
His dad says J.O. asked him if he thought the school might make an announcement or something. But he never expected anything that big. In the video, he’s got a huge smile on his face as he walks in, which his mom described as, quote, “pure happiness.”

NEWS OF THE WEIRD:
➢ Nanny wanted – for an 18-year-old university student. That job listing was recently posted by a parent whose daughter is a law undergrad at the University of Leeds. The Canadian student already has a driver and a “lovely” two-bedroom apartment, but her parents want to ensure their daughter lives “without the stress of laundry” as her schedule is “very intense”. Despite the need for a cook, the ad doesn’t ask for a gourmet chef, only for the fridge to be stocked full of “healthy snacks”.
➢ Australia and New Zealand have imposed a recall on Sriracha Hot Chilli Sauce for fear the bottles may “explode” upon opening. The food standards authority says that “A buildup of lactic acid may cause the bottle to ‘bloat’ and continue to ferment, resulting in an…explosion of sauce to a shirt, face or surface”. Consumers are advised not to open bottles that feel bloated and to return the products to the place of purchase.

SMALL TECH:
With smartphones seemingly getting larger every year, a new Kickstarter campaign has been launched for the Zanco tiny T2, which is being billed as the ‘world’s smallest smartphone’.
At 2.4 inches x 1.2 inches x 0.65 inches (6.1 cm x 3 cm x 1.65 cm), the Chinese company advertises it as smaller than the size of your thumb. Although that’s a bit of a stretch, it’s still ridiculously small and also only weighs 31 grams.
With its one-inch square screen and keypad, it kind of looks like a bite-sized BlackBerry. It has most of the features you’d expect on a modern smartphone, with the exception of music streaming.
To compensate, it offers a tiny FM radio. The T2 will retail at US$130 but can be purchased now through Kickstarter with a $59 pledge plus shipping.
You’ve got until Feb. 11. The campaign has a target of $10,000.

SCIENTISTS: BEAUTY SLEEP COULD BE REAL
We all know getting a good night’s sleep is important. Researchers from the University of Manchester looked at mice, and found that collagen, or substance that provides the body with structure and elasticity, is repaired in the body when we sleep, and the processs is highly influenced by our body clocks. Also, collagen plays a role in how our skin appears– so in some sense “beauty sleep” is really a thing. Since our body clocks get less percise as we age, the scientists hope this information could one day help them unlock some of the mysteries of aging.

Pneumonia Will Not Stop Ronnie Dunn from Doing His Job
Remember this the next time you’re thinking of calling out sick because your tummy hurts. BROOKS & DUNN performed at a fundraiser the other night, even though RONNIE DUNN had pneumonia.
And he didn’t sleepwalk through it either. Just the opposite. Somebody posted a clip of him doing a sing-along of “Neon Moon” with the crowd.
When that was done, he told them, quote “I’m suffering from pneumonia. I got a cold and a headache. I had a couple drinks. This is where it goes south.”
But it didn’t go south. He launched into an a cappella verse of “Neon Moon” and blew the roof off the place. The crowd gave him a standing ovation.
