On Today’s Show
January 29, 2020 9:35 amSomeone in Texas vandalized a car and covered it with slices of (Cheese singles) American cheese. But the joke’s on them, because it turns out you can lift fingerprints off that cheese.
So now cops are trying to track them down. A CSI guy who’s been working the case says you can actually get very clear prints off processed cheese.

Some people really shouldn’t drive late at night. A Spadina streetcar in Canada was forced to turn back on part of its route early last Wednesday morning after a driver drove into the Queens Quay tunnel and continued for about a third of a mile until they reached Union Station. The incident happened around 2 a.m. and the driver apparently ignored a gate, flashing lights and rumble strips installed to prevent this type of thing from happening. The driver only stopped upon getting stuck an an elevated concrete pathway that streetcar operators use to reach a bathroom. Crews used heavy machinery to tow the vehicle out of the tunnel, there was no damage to the tracks, and service in the area resumed by around 6 a.m.

ENTERTAINMENT
EMILIO ESTEVEZ will make his triumphant return to our SCREENS . . . in a Disney+ revival of “The Mighty Ducks”!
Emilio will return as Coach Gordon Bombay . . . whom he played in the 1992 original and the sequel, “D2: The Mighty Ducks”, two years later.
He only had a cameo in the third movie in 1996, but he’s all in for the new series.
On a related, but much more depressing note, actor SHAUN WEISS was arrested for burglary and being under the influence of METH. He played Goldberg, the goalie, in the original movies.
He was previously arrested in 2018 for public intoxication.

Lifetime has officially ordered the four-hour documentary series “Surviving Jeffrey Epstein.”
The financier was arrested in July 2019 and accused of sexually assaulting and trafficking numerous underage girls. The case drew worldwide attention due in part to the fact that Epstein was known to associate with powerful figures in Washington DC and internationally. The series is expected to air this summer.

- The shortest career for anyone who’s played in the NBA is JamesOn Curry. He played 3.9 seconds for the Los Angeles Clippers in 2010 . . . and that’s it.
- A hole-in-one on a par-5 hole in golf is called a “condor.” It’s considered the hardest thing to do in golf, and there’s never been one in a pro tournament.
- It costs $30,000 to $130,000 to climb Mount Everest between travel, permits, insurance, supplies and gear, and guides.

GOOD NEWS
There aren’t many people in the world that are more ISOLATED than lighthouse keepers.
There’s a guy named Ivan Dubinsky, and he’s a lighthouse keeper in British Columbia.
Back in November, he entered a lottery drawing online and he WON the jackpot of $1 million.
But Ivan had to wait more than TWO MONTHS to collect his winnings, because he can’t leave the lighthouse unattended, and he couldn’t find someone to come out to cover for him.
He FINALLY found someone last Monday, so he went to the lottery office to get his check.
So what’s he going to do with the money? He says his plan is to spend less time in lighthouses.

VERY EXPENSIVE ICE CREAM
A dentist from Winnipeg has been reimbursed by his bank after he was charged more than $5,000 for two servings of ice cream in Costa Rica.
David Kindrat said that when he bought his wife and daughter ice cream in the tourist town of Tamarindo, he thought he was paying in the local currency of Costa Rican colones.
“When I saw the receipt it was for $4,050 and I thought that’s about right. That’s about $9 Canadian, but when I got my credit card statement that wasn’t the case” said Kindrat.
He was originally told that because he used his PIN and authorized the charge, there wasn’t anything the bank could do. “They said you put in your PIN. It’s a legitimate transaction and we can’t do anything about it,” Kindrat said.
Scotiabank has since reviewed Kindrat’s case and reversed the charges.
“Scotiabank has refunded my money and apologized for the whole situation,” he said. “I appreciate that we were able to get my story out there and hope that it may caution others to closely watch electronic transactions when travelling.”

HOW TO MAKE THE PERFECT CUP OF COFFEE, ACCORDING TO SCIENCE
If you want to brew a perfect cup of coffee you have to consult science.
A mathematician and a physicist got together to come up with a formula for making the perfect cup of joe. They say the first step is to use coarsely ground coffee beans, which allows for “more efficient extraction” than using finely ground beans.
Doing this also means fewer coffee beans must be used. University of Portsmouth has been trialing their new method of brewing coffee at a small coffee shop in the U.S., and says that over the course of a year, the shop has reported saving thousands of dollars due to the ability to use fewer coffee beans.

Your Energy Level Peaks at 10:28 A.M. and Bottoms Out at 2:43 P.M. . . .
A new survey in England found our energy level peaks at 10:28 A.M. each day. That’s when the average person feels like they have the most energy. But then it plummets, and bottoms out around 2:43 P.M.
The survey also asked people to list things they feel like they’re just “too tired” to do on any given day. And I guess Brits hate exercise like we do. Because it made the Top 10 twice . . .
- Exercise.
- Clean the house.
- Have sex.
- Put your clean clothes away.
- Cook dinner.
- Go for a walk.
- Go out to meet up with friends.
- Wash the dishes.
- Go to the gym to exercise. (It’s ironic it made the list twice, because working out actually gives you more energy in the long run.)
- Go to a friend’s place to hang out.
A few more that cracked the Top 20 were reading, showering, and answering the phone.

Town That Couldn’t Get a Real Groundhog for Groundhog Day Will Use a Stuffed Animal
Haddon Township, New Jersey has been planning a big event for Groundhog Day this year . . . they’re throwing a festival with bands, fire pits, a beer garden, and more.
But there was a problem: They couldn’t get their hands on an actual groundhog.
So they’re moving on to Plan B . . . they’re going to fake it with a stuffed animal.
And the crowd will get to vote on whether the “groundhog” sees their shadow or not. I know Groundhog Day in general is built on a pretty shaky premise, but this all feels like it’s going one step too far.
A spokeswoman for the town says, quote, “It’s really hard to get a groundhog” . . . so now they’re spinning it as, quote, “A goofy, crazy event that nobody else does.”

LUKE BRYAN ‘PROBABLY NOT’ TAKING ON ACTING CAREER
Luke Bryan has checked a lot of boxes in the entertainment world — Country music superstar, celebrity judge on American Idol and even ACM Awards show host — but when it comes to acting, he’s not that interested. Luke tells us: [“If the right little movie role were to come along maybe, probably not though. If I ever saw myself being a bad actor I would move to another country. If I looked like a C actor it would mortify me. I’m learning, too, the more you take on the more mental real estate you take up, so I’m starting to try and be a little smarter about that. It’s really important for me to focus on music.”]
Luke has most definitely been focusing on music with the recent announcement of a new album, Born Here, Live Here, Die Here, which will be released on April 24th.
He’ll kick off his headlining Proud To Be Right Here Tour on May 28th in Cincinnati, OH with special guest Morgan Wallen and openers Caylee Hammack on the first half, followed by Runaway June on the second half. Select dates go on sale to the general public on Friday (Jan. 31st) at Megaticket.com.
FAST FACTS
Luke performed at his annual Crash My Playa event in Cancun, Mexico last week. The event was sold out.
The new season of American Idol premieres on ABC on February 16th.
MAREN MORRIS’ ‘SUPER SOLID’ RELATIONSHIP INSPIRED LATEST HIT
Maren Morris wrote her latest hit, “The Bones,” at a time in her life that she was feeling rock solid with her husband, Ryan Hurd. She tells us that was the same sentiment that her co-writers, Laura Veltz and Jimmy Robbins, were experiencing in their respective relationships. [“We just started talking about how gracious we were with our relationships at the time. I was really feeling so solidified in my relationship with my then-fiance and now husband. We all were super solid with our partners and so writing this song about like the bones of a house — you know, even if a hurricane comes, a storm, the structure of the house is still standing. The foundation of this relationship isn’t going anywhere.”]
Maren will give birth to her first child, a boy, sometime early this year. She has not officially announced a due date.
DUSTIN LYNCH SAYS SUPER BOWL SUNDAY IS A BIG CHEAT DAY – (01/29/2020)
Dustin Lynch is already looking forward to spending another Super Bowl Sunday (Feb. 2nd) camped out in front of the TV. He tells us that in addition to the game itself, that day is all about eating. [“Super Bowl is all about the food, snacks. Gotta be with good friends, cold beverages, but my go-to Super Bowl foods — I get to splurge, it’s like my cheat day — so I love Rotel and Velveeta with spicy sausage. It’s gotta have a little kick to it. I love piggies in a blanket on Super Bowl, so it’s . . . it’s a long day, a day where I have to be on my back and unbutton my jeans a couple notches so I can fit everything in. But it’s kind of like Thanksgiving — feast until you can feast no more!”]
The Super Bowl game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Sanfrancisco 49ers will air live from Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
