A guy in Naples, Florida gave his house a very abstract paint job, and that’s putting it nicely.  It basically looks like he just threw 20 different paint colors on the outside walls, and his neighbors are angry because it lowers the value of other homes in the neighborhood.  But a lawyer says suing to make him repaint could take years.

Bigfoot sightings happen in Washington state a lot.  A LOT.  But it’s pretty rare that the one doing the spotting is the GOVERNMENT.

The Washington State Department of Transportation released a video and some still shots from one of its cameras last week that showed a mysterious, shadowy figure walking across the tree line on a snowy road.

So is it Bigfoot?  There’s no word if the state is going to launch a full investigation.

ENTERTAINMENT

It was yet another slow weekend at the box office.  “Bad Boys for Life” made another $17.7 million, which was enough for it to remain #1 for the third straight week.  “1917” came in second, with $9.7 million.

“Bad Boys for Life” is now the highest grossing “Bad Boys” movie.  It has made $291 million worldwide.

Tom Hanks is speaking out after an image of him was used to endorse a CBD company without his approval. The ad also includes Dr. Mehmet Oz’s name, who also took to social media to warn fans that the image has been used illegally and without their consent. In the ad, the company attributes this quote to Hanks: “The advances Doctor Oz has made in the CBD industry are remarkable. I wouldn’t believe it if I hadn’t had the chance to try it out for myself.”

Hanks posted the quote to his Instagram and wrote in the caption that it is a “false and an intentional hoax.”

TODAY IS……………….

  • “Carrot Cake Day”, saluting an idea hatched in the Middle Ages. At that time, sugar and other sweeteners were rare and very expensive, so people used sweet vegetables for flavor.

  • “Football Hangover Day”, it’s estimated nearly 14 million people call into work “sick” the day after the big game. If this applies to you, congratulations! You officially join millions of other fans nursing a massive football hangover and headache!

VERY VALUABLE WATCH

A man brought a Rolex watch he purchased in 1974 for $345.97 to the PBS series “Antiques Roadshow” in North Dakota to find out its current value. His reaction: priceless.

Told a watch like his is now worth $400,000 at auction, the man fell to the ground.

But the appraiser wasn’t finished. Because of the watch’s pristine condition, the watch was valued at between $500,000 and $700,000. It’s an unworn Rolex Oyster Cosmograph

The man, a US Air Force veteran, said he purchased the Rolex because he heard it was a good brand for scuba diving. He said he ordered it through the Air Force base exchange in November 1974 and said it arrived in April 1975.

But after he received the watch, which cost nearly a month’s salary at the time even with a 10% discount, he decided it was “too nice” to take into saltwater.

Instead, he kept the watch in a safety deposit box for nearly 40 years, only taking it out a few times to check on it.

Not only was the watch in perfect condition, but the veteran had saved the warranty papers, original Rolex brochure for the Cosmograph, two receipts, and the two original boxes the Rolex came in.

Collectors love the watch because Paul Newman wore a similar model in the 1969 film, “Winning,”

GOOD NEWS

30-year-old Meir Kalmanson is a rabbi in New York and a social media personality who goes by the name Meir Kay.  (His first name is pronounced Mayor.)  And he did something pretty cool for the Super Bowl yesterday.

Three years ago, he invited a few homeless guys to his Super Bowl party, so they could watch the game and get something to eat.  And when he posted a video about it, other people started reaching out to get involved.  So he kept doing it.

He calls it his “Super SOUL Party.”  And his event in New York last year had about 100 people.  So this year, he went even bigger. With the help of volunteers, he organized TWENTY Super Soul parties in at least 15 cities around the U.S. The point is to give people with nowhere else to go a chance to watch the game in a group setting, and get some free food.

But he says it’s really a roundabout way to address an even deeper issue.  Quote, “I want people to connect, and to see that they’re not alone.”

Interesting Facts and Stats from Super Bowl 54

After last night’s Super Bowl, we ventured out into the Internet in search of some trivia and interesting facts on Super Bowl 54.  Here’s what we came up with:

  1. Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reidfinally got his first Super Bowl win, and deuces were wild!  It was his 222nd career win as a head coach, and it happened on 02-02-2020.  Reid had previously been the winningest coach in NFL history WITHOUT a championship.

  1. San Francisco 49ers coach Kyle Shanahanis not exactly known as a Super Bowl FINISHER.  There are three teams in Super Bowl history to lose a 10-point fourth quarter lead.  Kyle called the offensive plays for two of them.  Again, Kyle was the offensive coordinator for the Falcons when they blew a 28-3 lead to the New England Patriots three years ago.

And after the 10-minute mark in the fourth quarter, Shanahan’s Super Bowl teams were outscored a combined 46-0.  That includes the overtime of Super Bowl 51.

  1. Patrick Mahomesturned 24 back in September, and now he’s the youngest quarterback to win the Super Bowl MVP.  Tom Brady is the only other QB to do it before turning 25.

  1. This is the Chiefs’ first Super Bowl win since the 1969 season.  That was a 50-year drought, but the New York Jetshave a 51-year drought.  And 12 other teams have NEVER won a Super Bowl. That’s what happens when you have teams like the Patriots, Steelers, 49ers, and Cowboys stealing the thunder.  Together, they have 22 of the 54 Super Bowl wins.

  1. The annual EA Sports Super Bowl simulation on “Madden”predicted that the Chiefs would beat the 49ers 35-31.  They were right on the winner . . . and have now been right in 11 of the past 17 years.

A 30-second spot during last night’s Super Bowl cost a cool $5.6 MILLION . . . or about $186,000 per second.  So which ones were worth the money?

Well, a lot of them were teased or released beforehand.  So there weren’t a ton of surprises.  But there were a few.  Here’s a quick rundown of the highlights . . .

Bill Murray starred in a Jeep ad that recreated a bunch of scenes from “Groundhog Day”.  The Jeep people posted it online before the game, but not a lot of people saw it.  So it got a pretty good reaction.

A great spot for Rocket Mortgage featured a SCRAWNY and BALD version of Jason Momoa.  It showed him stripping off his muscles like a fake body suit.  Then his real-life wife Lisa Bonet spotted him while he struggled to bench press a bar with no weights on it.  The theme of the ad was, “At home, I can truly be myself.”

And Google had an ad where an older man asked his Google Assistant to help him find photos, videos, and memories of his wife, who’d passed away.  Some people found it touching.

PET OWNERS SPEND THOUSANDS A YEAR TO KEEP THEIR ANIMALS HAPPY AND HEALTHY: Having a furry friend is a lot of fun, but keeping them happy and healthy is expensive.

A survey found pet owners found they spend an average of $2,260 per year to keep their pet in good shape. That means if your pet lives for ten years you’ll spend well over $20,000 in all.

In addition, 65 percent of pet owners surveyed said they’d experienced an unexpected cost due to a pet-related medical emergency, and 57 percent reported struggling to pay for treatments and surgeries for their pets.

Still, people truly love their animals, with 84 percent saying they see themselves as “pet parents,” and 68 percent of millennials respondents saying they’ve raised a pet in preparation for raising a child.

The Head of PETA Says You’re Walking Your Dog Wrong

If your dog goes to the bathroom in under five minutes, you might consider it a successful walk.  But have you actually been walking your dog WRONG this whole time?  According to the head of PETA, it might be true.

And her main critique is stop RUSHING them.

Here are four tips to make trips outside a little better for your dog . . .

  1. Realize what a big deal it is for them.  Going for a walk is a major event for a dog, especially if you don’t have a yard.  So stop thinking of it as something you HAVE to do, and think of it as something they look forward to.  Quote, “It’s more than a bathroom break, it’s an excursion.”

  1. Give them more time to sniff stuff.  You don’t have to let them smell the same tree for 20 minutes.  But don’t constantly yank them along with you.  Think of it like this.  Sniffing things is your dog’s way of reading the news.

  1.  Be more involved, not so distracted.  Dogs are smarter than we realize.  And they can sense when you’re not truly present with them.  So don’t stare at your phone the whole time.  Try to be more involved in their walks.

  1. Stop walking them with just a leash and collar.  A harness is better and won’t hurt their neck as much.  Especially when they lunge at stuff.

  1. Things were NOT looking good for the Kansas City Chiefsin the third quarter of Super Bowl 54 last night . . . but quarterback Patrick Mahomes led the team to a comeback to win, with a final score of 31-20.  It’s the Chiefs’ second Lombardi Trophy . . . and their first in 50 years.

Now, the Chiefs are already the favourites to win next year’s Super Bowl.  Late last night, they opened at 6-to-1 odds in Vegas to win Super Bowl 55.  They’re followed by the Baltimore Ravens at 7-to-1 and the 49ers at 8-to-1.

The Cincinnati Bengals and the Washington Redskins share the worst odds at 200-to-1 each.  And somewhat surprisingly, the Cleveland Browns are at 25-to-1, which is even with the L.A. Rams, who lost last year’s Super Bowl.

  1. Maroons forward Lucas Fancy scored midway through the third period as Chatham had a 3-2 win over the visiting LaSalle Vipers Sunday afternoon.

The win moves Chatham to within four points of the Vipers for fourth spot in the GOJHL’s Western Conference, along with home-ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

The Maroons have eight games remaining on the regular season and host Komoka Thursday night.

BRETT YOUNG FEELS NO PRESSURE FOR NUMBER ONE HITS

Brett Young already has five consecutive Number One hits to his credit and his latest hit, “Catch,” could soon be his sixth. But what if that doesn’t happen? Brett says he’s fine either way. [“I don’t feel pressure about making sure they all go number one I just feel pressure to make the right decision if it’s time to get off of one. I’m always writing new music and all I can do is my best to put out the music that I think people will connect to. If it ever seems like it’s not connecting I just feel pressure to be able to kind of get over myself a little bit and realize this isn’t everybody’s favorite song and move on to the next one, and just hope I make the right decisions in that.”]

“Catch” is currently sitting in the Top 15 on the charts and continuing to climb.

Brett’s headlining The Chapters Tour kicks off on Thursday (Jan. 30th) in Knoxville and runs through May. In July, he’ll join Jason Aldean for his We Back Tour.

FGL ‘STILL HAVE SAME FEELING’ WHEN THEY HEAR THEMSELVES ON RADIO

Florida Georgia Line has had more than a dozen hits on country radio since bursting onto the scene in 2012 with “Cruise,” but they still have that same excitement when they hear themselves on the radio. Brian recalls hearing that first career-making song for the first time and tells us it never gets old. [“I had just pulled in and ‘Cruise’ was on, 2012, put all the windows down, got outside, parked that thing, kept it on and just cranked it up and was celebrating. I’ve still got that video on my laptop somewhere but honestly, I still have the same feeling everytime, whether I’m in Florida, on the road or here (Nashville) listening to the radio. It’s freaking radio. It’s so powerful. It’s what we grew up on. It’s amazing. It’s never gonna leave and it’s a cool feeling. It makes you wanna just continue that magic and that work ethic that got you there and that’s gonna keep you there, so it never gets old.”]

FGL and their fans can hear the duo’s latest single, “Blessings,” on country radio these days.

They will join Kenny Chesney on his Chillaxification Tour beginning on April 18th at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX.
