A screaming goat in Ottawa’s west-end got its head stuck in a fence, and raised concerns a child was in distress.

Ottawa Police were called after a resident heard what he believed was a child calling for help. The caller said the sound was coming from a wooded area in the north end of his property.

Officers searched but didn’t find anything. After speaking with a woman at a neighbouring home, Police say the woman’s husband came in and said his goat had been screaming earlier.

It turned out the curious animal had its head stuck in a fence.

There’s a 55-year-old guy named Bruce McConville in Ottawa.  And he’s been in a long court battle over paying spousal and child support to his ex-wife.

Well, he was in court recently and told a judge he’d sold some properties and businesses for around $1 million. Then he withdrew that in cash . . . and set the money ON FIRE to keep it away from his ex-wife. And his kids, I guess. The judge said quote, “How does destroying over a million dollars advance your child’s best interest?”  But Bruce says he did it out of frustration with the divorce. Oh, by the way, Bruce said he didn’t take a video of the cash on fire, he didn’t have any witnesses, and he doesn’t really have any proof.

The judge told him, quote, “You understand that’s hard to believe” . . . and sentenced him to 30 days in jail to, quote, “rethink” what happened to the money.  He also fined him $2,000-a-day to go to his ex-wife.

A new report says that the “Friends” reunion special on HBO Max IS happening . . . and all six main cast members are taking part.

And it would be foolish for them not to, because rumor has it they’re getting $3 million to $4 million EACH.  Whatever the exact number is, it comes out to around $20 million for the bunch.

That sounds like a lot for one special . . . but not necessarily in today’s market.  Netflix has been shelling out $20 million APIECE for specials by comedians like Dave ChappelleChris RockEllen DeGeneres, and Amy Schumer.

Whatever the case, HBO Max paid $425 million for the rights to “Friends” . . . what’s a few million more?

The 2020 Oscars Swag Bags Include a Brain Sensor, and a Urine Collection System

It’s always fun to hear about the ridiculous things that celebrities receive in their Oscars swag bags . . . and this year, they’re extra ridiculous.

According to FORBES, this year’s “free” swag is valued at $225,000, which is UP nearly $80,000 from last year’s haul.

The package includes:  “Hydrogen-infused” water ($29.99 a pouch) . . . posh amethyst bath bombs ($75) . . . a $150 gold-plated cannabis vape pen . . . a “brainwave-sensing meditation headband” ($250) . . . and up to $25,000 worth of cosmetic and rejuvenation procedures such as lip fillers and chemical peels.

There are vouchers for a 12-day cruise on a yacht with butler service, two helicopters, and a spa.  It’s valued at $78,190, with destinations that include Antarctica and the Mediterranean.

Other gifts include:  A romantic getaway in a Spanish lighthouse (not the one featuring Robert Pattinson) . . . a year’s membership to a luxury dating service . . . and the Peezy Midstream, a “medical urine collection system that claims to improve the accuracy of testing for infections.”

But not everything is weird and pricey.  For example, there’s a two-pack of dark chocolate Milanos, which cost $4.89 for a set of 10.

GOOD NEWS

An oil worker in Alberta named Kendall Diwisch was in his truck last Wednesday when he found three kittens that were FROZEN to the road.

It turned out someone abandoned them in the snow.  And it was so cold, their tails froze to the ground.

Luckily, he found them just in time though, and was able to free them by pouring lukewarm COFFEE on their tails.  Now a video of it is going viral.

It’s not clear how long they’d been there, but they were fine otherwise.  They even started lapping up the coffee before he picked them up and put them in his truck.

He took them home and gave them some food and water.  Then he brought them to a shelter.

And here’s the best part:  Someone immediately adopted ALL THREE of them.  So they’re still together and won’t be split up.

WAKING UP TO AN ALARM CLOCK BEEPING CAN MAKE YOU FEEL MORE GROGGY

Does anybody really like the sound of an alarm clock?

Australian researchers found participants who reported waking up to an alarm that went “beep beep beep” reported higher levels of grogginess than those who awoke to melodic alarms.

The theory is a beeping alarm might disrupt or confuse our brain activity as we wake up, and that a more melodic sound, or song, might actually help us wake up more effectively.

Things You Shouldn’t Touch If You Want to Avoid the Flu

  1. Office coffee stations and water coolers. Germs like hard surfaces and can find their way to 40 percent to 60 percent of common surfaces in offices, hotels and health care facilities in just two to four hours.

  1. Liquid soap in washrooms. Liquid soap itself can become contaminated with bacteria and one in four dispenser machines in public restrooms are contaminated with bacteria, including fecal matter, according to one study.

  1. AISLE seats in planes, trains and theaters. When traveling by bus, train or plane — or even when visiting a theater — think twice before choosing aisle seats. These are the seats that will be touched most often by other people as they’re trying to find their own.

  1. Salt and pepper shakers. One study examined 30 people who were showing symptoms of the common cold and were asked to identify 10 surfaces they’d touched in their home over the previous 18 hours: More than 40 percent of the surfaces tested positive for rhinovirus, the most common virus to cause the common cold. All salt and pepper shakers cited by participants tested positive.

  1. Exercise equipment at the gym. Bacteria love moisture, especially sweat, but one study found that rhinoviruses still cling to exercise equipment — even after cleaning.

Chris Rock turns 56 today.  To celebrate, here’s a Flashback Friday clip from Chris, hosting the Oscars back in 2016.  There was a lot of controversy, that he’ll explain.  What makes the clip interesting, is who he mentions in the audience.  (Kevin Hart, who would be hired to host after Chris, then would drop out due to his own controversy with the Academy in 2018.)

JON PARDI TOPS BILLBOARD, COUNTRY AIRCHECK CHARTS

Jon Pardi‘s latest single, “Heartache Medication,” becomes his fourth Number One at country radio this week as it tops both the Billboard and Country Aircheck/Mediabase Airplay charts. The last time Jon claimed the Number One spot was in 2017 with “Heartache On The Dance Floor,” so he knows how tough it can be to climb all the way to the top of the charts.

[“A No. 1 is great! You reach the top of the charts, and it’s stamped in history as a No. 1. It’s a big deal, and it’s a lot of fun. No. 1s matter, but also at the same time, if it’s felt and it makes an impact, that’s a big thing too. It’s been great. Radio’s been great, and they’ve been very great about playing my stuff and it’s been fun to like know that’s cool because I get to keep writing that stuff and the fans are growing too, and it’s getting bigger and bigger.”]

FAST FACTS

Jon’s previous chart-topping hits include “Dirt On My Boots,” “Head Over Boots,” “Heartache On The Dance Floor” and “Night Shift.”

KENNY CHESNEY’S UPCOMING ALBUM INSPIRED BY NO SHOES NATION

Kenny Chesney‘s upcoming studio album was inspired by his No Shoes Nation fans. He said, “People tell me their stories, what a song has meant, where and when they’ve played it, funerals, weddings, big games. You realize what these songs represent. It’s not just a hit record, but a piece of people’s lives, words when they need them, a break or a place to cry . . . and yes, a lot of times a lot of fun. For me, I wanted this record to reflect all that.”

The upcoming album will be Kenny’s first since 2018’s Cosmic Hallelujah.

The project was recorded over the last 18 months in Nashville, Key West, Malibu and on the road.

FAST FACTS

Kenny’s Chillaxification 2020 Tour kicks off April 18th at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Kenny is the only country artist on Billboard’s Top 10 Touring Acts of the Last 25 Years.

FAITH HILL – BREATHE

20 years ago three of the top five spots on the Billboard Hot Country Singles and Tracks chart were occupied by women, with Reba McEntire and the Dixie Chicks at Numbers Four and Two, respectively. Seated at Number One, for a sixth consecutive week, however, was a tune that had been released in October 1999, as the first single — and title cut — from Faith Hill’s fourth LP, Breathe.

While Hill had already scored five Number One solo country hits, from her 1993 debut single “Wild One” to her first major crossover smash “This Kiss” in 1998, as well as duets with husband Tim McGraw, “Breathe” would prove to be one of her biggest. It became her first Number One country and pop album at the end of 1999.

In 2002, Hill’s NBC special When the Lights Go Down featured a performance of “Breathe” with guitarist Carlos Santana.

Hill’s Breathe album would earn triple-platinum certification in late March 2000, just after her performance that month at the Oscars, as a last-minute replacement for Whitney Houston.

She would also go on to be crowned CMA Female Vocalist of the Year in October and would earn three Grammys early in 2001, including Best Country Album and Best Female Country Vocal Performance for “Breathe.”

To date, Breathe has sold more than eight million copies.
