On Today’s Show

A 24-year-old guy from South Dakota was pulled over in southwest Minnesota earlier this month for doing 92 miles-an-hour in a 60.  He got a ticket.

Just a few minutes later, he got pulled over by a DIFFERENT cop for doing 115 miles-an-hour.  That’s almost double the 60 mile-an-hour speed limit, and he got another ticket.

And when the cop finished up with him, the guy sped away . . . and he got pulled over AGAIN and was given another speeding ticket.  He also got a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt.

So the guy wound up getting three speeding tickets in less than an hour.

David Beckham was on “The Tonight Show” and admitted he loves playing with Lego.  And he uses the correct plural as “Lego.”  Victoria loves mocking him, as heard in a video she posted, telling him the box says it’s for an 11-year-old.

ENTERTAINMENT

Here’s something to hold you over until the “Friends” reunion finally goes down.

The Postmodern Jukebox people did a video called the “Evolution of the ‘Friends’ Theme Song Through the Decades”.

It’s how the song would sound in each decade from the 1920s to the 1990s, when the show debuted.  It guest stars The Rembrandts, who did the original version.

WHAT YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH, WHERE:
(Stuff that you could actually legally get away with in certain countries…)

☞ Attach a flamethrower to your car:  In South Africa, you can attach a “Blaster” to your car, which throws flames a distance of 5 meters from both sides of your car. (I’m guessing they don’t have emissions testing there?)

☞ Leave your children home alone:  Although in many countries, the minimum age to leave kids home alone is not expressly stated, in Russia it is quite common for children to be left on their own.

☞ Drive a tank:  In England, they are road legal, meaning that if you are able to get your hands on one, you could use it for your weekly shopping run…provided you disabled the weapons system and added rubber tracks. (They might get you for no turn signals, though…)

☞ Steal artwork:  In the Netherlands, you can steal it and sell it, as long as you wait 20 years, when it legally becomes yours.

GOOD NEWS

Catherine Kenyon is getting her PhD at Clemson University in South Carolina.  Earlier this month, she made the local paper after she found someone’s class ring in a parking lot and got it back to them.  It turned out they’d dropped it there four years ago.

Catherine could relate, because HER class ring went missing after she left it on a bus in 2017.

But now the favor’s been repaid.  Because two weeks after she returned the ring, some guy she’d never met texted a picture of HER ring that HE found.

It wasn’t because of the news story.  It was just a coincidence.  The guy says he just happened to be cleaning out an old bag when he spotted the ring. Turns out he found it three years ago, and Catherine’s name was engraved on it.  But he couldn’t find her online back then.

This time, he googled her name and found her resumé with a phone number on it.  So that’s how he got in touch.

He thinks it’s definitely the result of “good karma.”  But Catherine has another explanation.  Quote, “I think it just speaks volumes to what kind of people live here.”

Apple Won’t Let Bad Guys Use iPhones in Movies

If you’re choosing between an iPhone and an Android . . . would it matter to you that criminal masterminds prefer the design, value, and performance of the Android?  Well, if you watch a lot of movies that’s the impression you might get.

Rian Johnson is the director of “Knives Out” and “The Last Jedi”, and he said Apple doesn’t want VILLAINS to use their phones.

Quote, “Apple [lets] you use iPhones in movies but . . . and this is very pivotal if you’re watching a mystery movie . . . bad guys cannot have iPhones on camera.”

He joked, quote, “Every single filmmaker that has a bad guy in their movie that’s supposed to be a secret wants to murder me right now.” Apple hasn’t commented.  But there’s been plenty of talk about how crazy they are about protecting their image in the past.

In fact, there’s a “Wired” article from way back in 2002, which pointed out that all the good guys on the show “24” use Macs, and all the bad guys use Windows PCs.

Your Dog’s Personality Changes Over Time . . . and They Become More Like You

If you’re thinking about getting a dog because you feel it’ll help you get off the couch and moving around . . . maybe don’t.

In a few years, you AND the dog will be on the couch together. A study out of Michigan State University found that dogs’ personalities CHANGE over time. And in a lot of cases, they actually take on some of the big personality traits from their owners.

The researchers found that people who are outgoing had dogs that were more active and excitable . . . people who are unhappy had dogs that were more fearful and harder to train . . . and agreeable people had dogs that were less aggressive.

The results were a surprise to the researchers, who say, quote, “We expected the dogs’ personalities to be fairly stable because they don’t have wild lifestyle changes [like] humans do, but they actually change a lot.”

DID YOU KNOW?
A British Airways flight has broken the record for the fastest-ever subsonic flight between New York and London, reaching a top speed of 825mph (1,327km/h). The Boeing 747 reached its destination in four hours and 56 minutes, as a result of jet stream winds of over 200 mph propelling the aircraft. The supercharged jet stream was also responsible for powering Storm Ciara, which brought damaging wind and massive waves to the UK other parts of Northern Europe. The plane landed at Heathrow airport almost two hours earlier than scheduled.

Midland’s Favorite Hobbies Include Surfing, Antiquing, and Bouldering

The MIDLAND guys were talking about their hobbies, and I find that interesting because musicians love telling us about their new song or upcoming tour.  Nothing wrong with that, but it’s not always fascinating.

But hobbies, well, how often do you hear about a lead guitarist who loves antiquing?  That’s what JESS CARSON is into.

Singer MARK WYSTRACH’s hobby is surfing, which is odd because he’s from Arizona.  But he also spent time as a model and actor so he probably had plenty of beach access in those years.

As for bassist CAMERON DUDDY, he spends his free time climbing things.  QUOTE, “I like to go bouldering, both on the road, and when we’re at home.  If it’s the winter, you can find a climbing gym, and most college towns have them, and big cities [too.]

“And then when it’s nice out and we’re home, there’s a place called Enchanted Rock not far from where we live in Texas.  There’s great climbing out there so, I’m an amateur but I really do dig it.  My wife and I like to get out there.”

JIMMIE ALLEN WELCOMES BABY GIRL, TOPS COUNTRY CHARTS

Jimmie Allen and his fiancee, Alexis Gale, welcomed their baby girl, Naomi Betty Allen, in Nashville on Sunday (March 1st). The birth coincided with news of Jimmie’s second career Number One hit, “Make Me Want To,”.

Naomi joins five-year-old big brother Aadyn, who is from Jimmie’s previous relationship.

Jimmie tells us exclusively that he’s a little bit nervous about raising a girl, but he did get some unsolicited advice from a woman while out one day and, although unexpected, he says since then he’s heard it a couple more times. [“She was like, ‘One (bit of) advice — wipe down.’ And I didn’t get it. I was like, ‘Oh (snaps). Got it!’ Cause with my son it don’t matter. You just wipe, wipe, wipe, do your thing (laughs). I’ve heard that three times.”]

Jimmie and Alexis are getting married in May.
