The NBA abruptly announced that the rest of the SEASON was suspended until further notice last night.  This came after the league found out that a player had tested positive for COVID-19.  Sources say the infected player is RUDY GOBERT of the Utah Jazz.  As far as we know, he’s doing okay.

Jazz and Thunder players were quarantined in the locker room . . . however, the NBA said the infected player (Gobert) was NOT in the arena.  His test results had just been released . . . and the league was very concerned because of all the contact he’s had with others beforehand.

The NBA needed to intervene.  During the past 10 days, Utah has played 5 teams including the Toronto Raptors. Since the virus can take up to two weeks to be symptomatic, players from those teams, as well as personnel from the Jazz, have been advised to self-quarantine.

The NBA hasn’t said how long the season might be suspended, because it’s too early for anyone to know the extent of the situation.

TOM HANKS and his wife RITA WILSON became the first famous people to have tested positive for the coronavirus.  They’re in Australia . . . and they say they’re doing fine, and are just taking it, quote, “one-day-at-a-time.”

“Well . . . what to do next?  The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed.  We will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires.  Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no?

“We’ll keep the world posted and updated.  Take care of yourselves!”

A cop near New Orleans pulled a guy over the other day for driving with expired plates.  And he tried to claim it just slipped his mind, because he’s been so busy lately.

That excuse might work sometimes but not in this guy’s case because his registration expired 23 YEARS ago.

Police posted a photo of the license plate on Facebook.  And the sticker expired in September of 1997. There’s no word yet on what charges he’s facing.

Is this a miracle or a problem? Residents of the small village Settecani, in Italy, say the taps in their homes were dispensing red liquid instead of water last Wednesday. Many said the water smelled like a locally-produced wine. Officials at the winery say technicians investigated and found a technical fault had caused wine to leak from a silo into water pipes. The high pressure of the wine leak was enough to displace the water in the pipes, causing the beverage to enter the water supply. The local water board dispatched people to fix the issue and once again bring fresh water through the pipes. Some residents told local media they bottled as much of the wine that came through as possible before the flow returned to normal.

You Can Get Paid $4,550 to Let Scientists Infect You with Coronavirus

A British company called Hvivo that studies viruses is one of the many groups working like crazy to find a vaccine or cure for COVID-19,  But they need people with the virus to study.

So . . . they’re paying up.  They’re looking for volunteers to INTENTIONALLY infect with the virus for $4,550.  Then you’ll live in their lab in London for two weeks.  So hey, $4,550 AND two weeks of free rent. Is it risky to intentionally get a potentially fatal disease?  On some level, yes . . . but you’ve got two things working in your favor.

One, they’ll infect you with a milder strain.  Two, young, healthy people usually handle this virus okay . . . and across all ages, over 96% of people who get coronavirus survive.  The lab is only taking groups of 24 people at a time.

GOOD NEWS

A woman named Ruth Bryant recently celebrated her 100th birthday in Roxboro, North Carolina.  Check out what she asked for . . .

She’s been a law-abiding citizen her whole life.  But she always thought it would be fun to get ARRESTED.  So some local cops made it happen. They showed up at her assisted living center and arrested her in front of all her friends.  And they came up with some fake charges.

They accused her of going to a nearby fire department and FLASHING people.  Then they cuffed her and put her in a squad car.  She actually pretended to FIGHT BACK at one point and started kicking. Then they took her to the station and booked her.  She even had a mugshot taken.

She only spent a few minutes in an actual cell, but loved the whole thing.  And they let her take an orange shirt home with her.

The hardest part of getting arrested might have been getting in and out of the cop car.  She told police they should find whoever makes car seats so low and “arrest every one of them.”

HOW TO STOCK YOUR KITCHEN FOR THE CORONAVIRUS ERA (AND OTHER EMERGENCIES)

The threat of the novel coronavirus has people around the world being asked to take social distancing measures.

Sometimes people just work from home, and sometimes it means going into isolation for 14 days. With more cases of the disease popping up across the U.S., Americans might have to do some form of social distancing. So you might want to start getting some essentials in your pantry, just in case.

The government suggests having a two-week supply of food and water ready for all emergencies, including pandemics. She suggests stocking up on canned foods such as canned beans, canned tomatoes, and jars of tomato sauce and paste, among other things. She says canned coconut milk, canned meats such as Spam, and tinned fish like anchovies and tuna are also good to have.

You’ll also want some long-lasting, shelf-stable dry goods such as crackers, nut butters, tahini, dried fruits, cereal, granola bars, and oils. Frozen vegetables are also good to have on hand, and even frozen shrimp or frozen fruits like berries and mango. It’s also food to have foods like pasta, dried beans, grains, nuts, hot cereal, coffee, and tea on hand. Other tips: shop for your emergency stash with a strategy in mind, eat the food you already have that can spoil first.

QUESTION…. DO YOU HAVE AN EMERGENCY KIT IN YOUR HOME?

JORDAN DAVIS’ LATEST HIT IS ‘FAVORITE’ SONG ON ALBUM

Jordan Davis‘ latest single, “Slow Dance in a Parking Lot,” just happens to be his favorite on his debut album, Home State. You know, I love ‘Leaving New Orleans’ and that one means a lot to me, but ‘Slow Dance’ is just a song that from day one when we wrote that I just felt like a lot of people need to hear this song. It’s a song that I’ve been playing for a long time, and I’m happy the world’s getting to hear it.”]

Jordan is nominated for New Male Artist of the Year at this year’s ACM Awards, which will be broadcast live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas April 5th at 8 p.m. ET/delayed PT on CBS.

LAUREN ALAINA COULDN’T WAIT TO FINISH ALBUM TO GET NEW MUSIC TO FANS

Lauren Alaina has given her fans six new songs with the release of her EP, Getting Good. She co-wrote five of them, including “Ladies in the ’90s,” while the title track is playing at country radio.

Lauren tells us she wanted to get the new music to fans as fast as possible before hitting the road. [“The reason we are even releasing it is because I just could not wait until we finished the entire album to put out new music. It’s been a while since we put out new music and we’re doing a headlining tour and we’re performing the new music, and nobody has access. So, the six songs that we’re performing live that necessarily aren’t out on an album or anything, we put together as an EP, so the fans could go listen to them and practice them and come sing them at the shows. So, I’m really excited about that.”]
