Maple syrup buyers such as supermarkets are requesting rush shipments of their orders from Quebec, the world’s largest producer. The accelerated delivery is being fueled by concerns that shipping could become difficult in the coming months. The U.S. is the biggest buyer of syrup, followed by Germany and Japan. The good news for pancake lovers is that there’s no shortage of syrup. The Federation of Quebec Maple Syrup Producers has a strategic reserve filled with 100 million pounds of syrup in case of a shortfall.

ENTERTAINMENT

Actress EVANGELINE LILLY from “Ant-Man and the Wasp” e is absolutely, positively, defiantly refusing to self-quarantine. In an Instagram post earlier this week she said, quote, “Just dropped my kids off at gymnastics camp.  They all washed their hands before going in.  They are playing and laughing.  #BusinessAsUsual”

When the Internet came after her she doubled down.  She said the coronavirus is just a “respiratory flu,” and she’s worried the government is going too far to curb the spread.

By the way, Evangeline has two young kids AND she’s living with her dad, who has stage 4 leukemia.  She said, quote, “Some people value their lives over freedom, some people value freedom over their lives.  We all make our choices.”

I don’t know if this is ironic or just plain sad, but while Evangeline is pulling this garbage, one of her old co-stars from the TV show “Lost” actually HAS the coronavirus.

DANIEL DAE KIM, who you might also recognize from “Hawaii Five-0”, announced yesterday that he’s been diagnosed.

COVID QUICK HITS

California issued a mandatory STAY AT HOME order last night and only essential services will stay open.  That came after projections that56% of its population will become infected over an eight-week period . . . that’s 25-and-a-half million people.

Please continue to pray that warm weather will help slow down the spread of coronavirus.  A new study found signs that higher temps and humidity can reduce transmission rates.

Senator Richard Burr, a Republican from North Carolina, told a group of wealthy VIPs about the danger of coronavirus and how the U.S. wasn’t ready back on February 27th . . . while he publicly lied and said the U.S. WAS ready. He also then dumped 1.6 million of stock in advance of the market plummeting.  Senator Kelly Loeffler, a Republican from Georgia, also dumped a couple million worth of stock after a briefing.  She DID buy stock in a teleconferencing company, though. It’s illegal for members of Congress to trade stocks on non-public information.

The owner of a pizza place in Connecticut has been making two trips a day to deliver FREE PIZZAS to his local hospital.

There could be a shortage of ventilators soon.  So over 300 engineers got together on Facebook and started something called the OPEN SOURCE VENTILATOR” project.  The goal is to come up with something people can build out of 3-D printed parts and stuff that’s readily available at hospitals.  A week later, they’ve already got a prototype.  This reminded us of the great scene from “Apollo 13,” when the guys on the ground have to figure out how to fit a square air filter into a round hole using nothing but the stuff the astronauts have on board the ship.

A woman at a nursing home in Massachusetts turned 100 years old the other day, and her entire family showed up at her window to sing “Happy Birthday” to her.

In one day, a THOUSAND nurses and doctors in New York came out of retirement or private practice to help treat people at hospitals and fight the outbreak.

Three little old ladies in the U.K. are riding out the crisis together in one of their apartments.  Now people are comparing them to “The Golden Girls”.  They did a great interview and said they’ll be fine . . . because they have Netflix and plenty of wine.

GOOD NEWS

In the middle of a global pandemic, staring down your own mortality, some people are going to have a crisis of conscience. A guy in Israel just returned a 2,000-year-old ancient catapult stone to a national park . . . a stone he STOLE when he visited the park as a kid 15 years ago.

Why’d he return it now?  Quote, “The time has come to clear my conscience.  It feels that the end of the world is near.”

The stone most likely came from battles between residents of Jerusalem and Roman soldiers around the year 70 A.D. He returned it through a middleman who agreed not to share his identity, so as far as we know he’s not looking at charges for the theft.

NEARLY TWO-THIRDS OF JAPAN VOTERS THINK TOKYO OLYMPICS SHOULD BE POSTPONED Organizers of this summer’s Tokyo Olympics are still saying they’re planning to go ahead as scheduled.

But a new poll of Japanese voters found that nearly two-thirds of them, 63 percent, said the Games should be postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic, while 23 percent said they should be held, and nine percent think they should be canceled altogether.

Sports and cultural events in Japan have been called off at Prime Minister Shinzo Abe‘s recommendation because of the virus, but Abe has said the Olympics will go ahead as planned starting on July 24th.

How to Work from Home with Your Partner

  1. Establish your physical ‘work boundaries.’ While some have the luxury of a desk each, not everyone has the space or budget to incorporate this. Sitting at the kitchen table together could result in tensions.

  1. Create date nights. Putting the spark back into your relationship while at home can be tough, especially while in close proximity every day.

  1. Take breaks away from each other. Spending 24/7 with a partner could cause tiny issues to become magnified while in each other’s company. Personal space is key to ensuring you are not suffocated while isolating at home.

  1. Communicating how you feel. Self-isolating can lead people to feel bored, agitated and even frustrated as they have no option but to remain at home. Tell your partner how you’re feeling.

  1. Being grateful. Acknowledging when your partner does something thoughtful could make for a happier working and living environment.

The NASCAR Season Will Continue . . . In an eSports Simulation?

NASCAR has shut down live races until May 3rd . . . but they’ve announced that they’re doing weekly SIMULATED races starting this Sunday.

It’s called the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series, and it’ll take place over multiple weeks . . . featuring drivers like Dale Earnhardt Jr.Kyle BuschDenny HamlinClint BowyerKyle Larson, and Christopher Bell.

It’s basically just a video game.  Drivers get in front of a computer, with a steering wheel and pedals.  The set-up is a reflection of an actual car . . . and the backdrops even reflect real tracks.

The first race of this series is taking place on Sunday at 1:30 P.M. Eastern at a virtual version of Homestead-Miami Speedway track.

NASCAR president Steve Phelps said he’s trying to get the games broadcast on Fox Sports or NBC.

iRacing isn’t quite like an NBA player being themselves in “2K” . . . it’s a legit simulator.  Several current NASCAR drivers have started their careers in iRacing.

KELSEA BALLERINI DROPS SELF-TITLED ALBUM TODAY

Kelsea Ballerin’s new album, simply titled Kelsea, is available at all retailers today (Friday, March 20th). The 13-song collection features two collaborations — one with pop star Halsey and one with Kenny Chesney — in addition to her latest hit single, “homecoming queen?.”

Kelsea tells us the album’s title came from the conclusion that all the songs are about her. [“The album kind of named itself, to be honest. I didn’t really have a theme like I did with my last album. I just wrote for two years and when I was sifting through my favorite songs it kind of seemed like it was a very self-aware, self discovery period of my life, which is why I named it Kelsea cause it kind of felt like the thing that if you listened to the 13 songs we’d be on a first-name basis after that.”] SOUNDCUE (:25 OC: . . . basis after that.)

Kelsea is the singer’s third studio album. She is expected to announce a tour in support of the project soon.
