How You Dry Your Hands Off Matters Too
We’re all experts on hand-washing now: Hot water and soap for at least 20 seconds. But a lot of people don’t know that DRYING your hands is an important step too.
This won’t matter as much if you’re hunkered down at home. But for people who still have to venture out in the world, it’s important.
When your hands are wet . . . or even damp . . . they pick up more germs than when they’re totally dry. So if you touch something like a doorknob with damp hands, you’re more likely to get sick. Studies have found that drying off with a towel also REMOVES more germs than just washing alone does. Washing does the heavy lifting. But the friction from the towel helps too, as long as it’s clean.
The one thing you don’t want to do in public bathrooms is use the hand dryers. They tend to kick up a lot of germs into the air, or blow them back onto your hands.
That’s why experts say to use paper towels in public bathrooms if they’re available, and carry a few tissues in your pocket in case they’re not.
You can avoid touching the door handle directly by using a paper towel to open it. Just prop it open with your foot, so you can throw the towel away.

GET OUT!
Yes, you can go outside during the coronavirus pandemic. In fact, you should. But carefully.
Dr. Kathryn Jacobsen, a professor of global health epidemiology at George Mason University, says that getting outdoors for some fresh air and exercise can be an important part of staying healthy during the pandemic.
The CDC hasn’t made any recommendations that people limit outdoor time if they live in places that have not imposed restrictions on outdoor activities and they can maintain physical distance from people who are not members of their own households.
Experts say that if you do not have COVID-19 symptoms, by all means, sit on the porch, walk the dog, find a green space, go for a run, if you like. It’ll help you sneak in a little bit of exercise, and it just might keep you from going stir-crazy.
Just remember to maintain ‘physical distancing’ at all times. And wash your hands when you get home.

DID YOU KNOW?
In spite of last week’s leak of information regarding two new iPhone models being readied for release later this year, it looks like the wait for the iPhone 12 will be significantly longer than expected. Reportedly, the iPhone 12 may not launch this year due to the impact of the Coronavirus. The reasons are twofold: first, the considerable disruption to Apple’s supply chain in Asia, and second, the spread of the virus has drastically reduced demand for new smartphones as people shift their financial focus to more immediate priorities.
