COVID UPDATES
There’s a video going viral of people in Atlanta out on their balconies, giving a round of applause to healthcare workers during a shift change. And buildings all across the U.K. turned blue last night to thank doctors and nurses for how hard they’re working.
A company called Prisma Health came up with a “splitter” that lets 4 patients used one ventilator at the same time. The FDA rushed the approval, and now they’re sharing it with hospitals all over the world. Also, the company behind Dyson vacuum cleaners designed a new ventilator in 10 days, and they’re making 15,000 of them.
A 19-year-old woman in the U.K. is spending her time in quarantine calling her exes to see what went wrong . . . and now she’s sharing the results.
A guy in Milwaukee went viral after he used a remote-control car to deliver a beer to his neighbor. The video has racked up millions of views. He says he’s glad it has put a smile on people’s faces.
A 13-year-old kid in Virginia has been making facemasks with his parent’s 3-D printer. He got the instructions for free online, and says it’s the first time he’s been able to make something that’s actually useful.
A student at Berklee School of Music got 74 of her friends to perform the Burt Bacharach song, “What the World Needs Now Is Love”. They all recorded their parts from home, and the end result is pretty incredible.

GOOD NEWS
A woman gave birth at a Walmart in Missouri . . . and it was in the toilet paper aisle.
Another customer who works as a labor nurse sprang into action and donned gloves she was carrying in her pocket while Hinkle and other workers alerted authorities and blocked off the aisle to give the woman some privacy.
Firefighters arrived in time to assist the nurse with the delivery and the mother and child were taken to a local hospital after the birth. The manager said she spoke to the woman and both mother and baby are doing well.

Stop Flushing These Things Down the Toilet
Let’s take a second to review the top things you should NOT be flushing . . .
- Wet wipes. Even if they say “flushable,” it’s not true. They don’t break down like toilet paper does. So they can clog your plumbing, or your local sewage system if enough people do it. The same applies for baby wipes and moist towelettes.
- Paper towels, and even tissues. They’re not designed to break down in water like toilet paper is.
- Antibacterial wipes, like those Clorox wipes everyone stocked up on. Hopefully you haven’t resorted to using THOSE in the bathroom. But in any case, don’t flush them.
- Lady products, including tampons. If you normally flush them, now’s the time to break that habit. The same applies for Q-tips and cotton pads.
- Dental floss. It can wrap around stuff and cause blockages. You also shouldn’t flush HAIR for the same reason.
CITY WARNS AGAINST USING T-SHIRTS FOR TOILET PAPER
Toilet paper is a bit hard to find at the moment, and it has people turning to alternatives. Nothing’s wrong with that, as long as your don’t flush whatever you use after the fact. Officials in Redding, California are telling residents “Bag it, don’t flush it,” after somebody almost caused an issue on Wednesday (March 18th) when they wiped with cut-up T-shirts and then flushed them. Authorities say the T-shirts clogged pumps at a sewer station, causing a pump to back up. Officials warn that sewer backups can cause fecal matter back up into toilets, sinks, and tubs. They add that people also shouldn’t flush items such as napkins, paper towels, and wet wipes—even those that claim they are flushable on their packaging.

Two Fishermen Who Cheated in a Bass Tournament by Smuggling in Pre-Caught Fish
Back in October of 2018, a 45-year-old guy named Robert Dennett and a 35-year-old guy named Kamron Wootton, both from Washington City, Utah, competed together in a bass fishing tournament.
The top prize was $2,500 for catching the five heaviest fish in two days. And after Robert and Kamron turned in their fish on the first day, they were in second place.
But they were soon disqualified . . . because the tournament officials noticed their bass didn’t look like ANY of the ones other people had been catching. Quote, “They had little heads and fatter bodies, indicating a different diet . . . [and] red fins, which indicated they’d undergone stress.”
And yes, it turned out Robert and Kamron had SMUGGLED in pre-caught bass from a reservoir in a different part of Utah.
There was a LONG investigation, but last week, both guys were charged with felony bribery or threat to influence a contest, plus some misdemeanor wildlife charges. The felony charge could get them each up to 5 years in prison.

DO YOU NEED TO CHANGE AND WASH YOUR CLOTHES AFTER VISITING THE GROCERY STORE?
Even during a global pandemic, you need to eat.
But should you be washing and changing your clothes after going to the grocery store? Sarah Fortune, a Harvard expert on immunology and infectious diseases says, “The average person should not worry about their clothing.
If you are a health-care provider and potentially subject to a high density of virus, the answer is different. But for most of us, it is all about our hands and face.” Jean Dumois with John Hopkins adds, “Coronaviruses in general last a lot longer on a solid, nonporous surface compared to porous fabrics.”
Another expert says the average person doesn’t necessarily need to wash their clothes more often than usual after visiting the grocery store, and that it actually would be more important to wash your hands after touching clothes that somebody coughed on.

FRIDAY MARCH 27TH
TODAY’S BIRTHDAYS
[57] Quentin Tarantino, film producer-writer-
SATURDAY- Reba McEntire is 65; Rodney Atkins is 51
——————————————————————————————————————————-
- 1. Premier Doug Ford had a strong message for stores and people that are price gouging “we’re coming for you”
There are at least 2.6 billion people worldwide on lockdown . . . that’s more than the entire population of the planet during World War Two.
Yesterday, the U.S. passed an unfortunate milestone, and now has more confirmed cases than any other country in the world. There are more than 85,000 confirmed cases in the U.S. . . . and if we had more testing available, that number would certainly be higher.
Now, granted, the U.S. has the third-largest population in the world, so there are more people who COULD get the virus. Then again, China has a BILLION more people and fewer cases.
- Dr. Ashish Jha, professor of Global Health at Harvard University, said we’re in for a bumpy ride over the next 12-18 months due to the coronavirus.
- Jimmy Fallon is still working from home. And last night, he was trying to do his weekly “Hashtags” segment when his 5-year-old daughter, Frances, said she was going upstairs. She then stomped her feet for 15 seconds, then started playing the drums. (From “The Tonight Show” on Thursday, March 26, 2020)
Last night, Jimmy read a bunch of “I Knew I Had Cabin Fever When” tweets from viewers. (From “The Tonight Show” on Thursday, March 26, 2020)
- People are still flying, Britain fines groups in public, stay at home boredom, and a free language course. (From Jimmy Fallon and David Spade’s at home shows on Thursday, March 26, 2020)
Tips from Astronauts on How to Self-Isolate Without Going Nuts
Who knows more about self-isolating in a dangerous environment than ASTRONAUTS?
Former Space Station commander Chris Hadfield got on YouTube and shared some pointers on how to get through this without going nuts. And astronaut Scott Kelly shared some great tips too.
- Do your research, understand the situation, and listen to the experts. Don’t just be afraid.
- Follow a schedule. Having some structure really helps.
- Get outside if you can. They can’t do it in space, and it’s one of the things they miss most. If you can’t go outside, just crack a window. Or try this: On the Space Station, they play a lot of nature sounds, like birds and trees rustling in the wind.
- Keep a journal. NASA has been studying the effects of self-isolation for decades. And they’ve found it’s one of the best ways to stop cabin fever.
- Take time to connect with your loved ones.
Like Hadfield says, “There’s never been a better time [in history] to self-isolate.”

Kip Moore Is Off the Grid Eating Frozen Meats and Learning Spanish
Leave it to KIP MOORE to make us feel guilty about getting fat and sassy while social distancing. As we binge on Netflix and Oreos, his self-quarantine days involve eating right, rock climbing, and learning Spanish. He says quote, “I’m trying to eat right, take care of my body. I’ve followed the guidelines of quarantining myself. I’m trying to do everything asked of me. I’m currently in the mountains and I’m rock climbing. I’m completely solo.
“I’m off the grid. I’ve stocked up on a lot of frozen meats. I’ve got a little lodge up here in Kentucky, so I’m hanging out here, so that’s where I’m spending my time.”
As for learning Spanish. It’s one thing to download the Duolingo app, which he did . . . but he’s been spending 45 minutes to an hour on it “every single morning.”
Kip teamed up with the Eat Well people to provide over 3,000 free meals to kids in middle Tennessee affected by school closures.

FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE’S BRIAN KELLEY ON WHAT MAKES THEIR SONGWRITING DIFFERENT
Florida Georgia Line’s Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard are both songwriters and have been in the studio working on their next album. They say they make a conscious effort not to write the same song twice. Brian Kelley tells us more: [I think for both of us the songwriting process is different every time. Sometimes it starts with literally, like, the title and then you kind of go from there. Sometimes it starts with a guitar lick. Sometimes it starts with maybe just a simple lyric. But I think we all just try to bring something fresh to the table every time and try to word it different, try to create melodies that are different, that feel fresh, and try to marry them together to where it makes sense, where the lyric and the melody just fit, and it feels good. Also, it’s cool that we can write songs on buses, in hotel rooms, in the studio, in California, pretty much anywhere we go, you can write a song. And I think that also makes your content different. I remember starting a song in the bathroom one time because it sounded so good. I was playing the guitar, And so you never know where it’s gonna come from.]
FGL will release a new song, “I Love My Country” TODAY. It will be on their next album.
