On Today’s Show
April 29, 2020 9:35 amWEDNESDAY APRIL 29TH – WHAT’S HAPPENING
➢ It seems that cleaning supplies won’t be restocked to their normal levels for a few more months. Supply chain experts say brands, such as Lysol, Clorox and Purell, have not been able to keep up with the demand of panic buyers, and that the raw materials needed to make the products come from China. Those materials usually take about four weeks to ship and getting the materials from China has been more difficult due to the country coping with its own outbreak earlier this year. A supply-chain-management professor says, “Even if they were able to get the ingredients, it doesn’t necessarily mean they have the capacity to produce more products.” He says these items likely won’t return to pre-pandemic levels until July or August.
➢ It’s amazing what a one-digit mistake can cause. Doriana Fontanella of Denver, Colorado, says her cellphone has recently been bombarded with calls, and it’s just one digit off from the state’s fax number for the Department of Labor and Employment. She says she’s been inundated with calls over the past several weeks as people are accidentally dialing her number instead. She says the issue really began back in 2008, and grew worse in 2013. She would pick up her phone only to hear the tone of a fax machine as people tried to presumably fax materials to the Department of Labor for unemployment claims. She says people should triple check to make sure they’re faxing the right number.
➢ Chris Hemsworth, said on Jimmy Kimmel Live! he was cleaning out the garage at his home in Australia the other day where his family has hunkered down when he saw a flash of color in his riding gear. He thought, oh, that’s a nice green scarf that’s been shoved into my motorbike helmet, And this is all within a second or two as I’m reaching for it. And as I put my hand on it, it’s not a scarf. It’s a python, he said. Hemsworth reacted by pulling his hand back quickly. No need to summon the Avengers, but it gave him a start.
➢ David Beckham has joined the All-In Challenge, and he’s offering an opportunity to play some 5-on-5 with him at a new training facility for the team he co-owns in Miami. Here’s the downside: You have to put together a team of five and play AGAINST him. But you also get to hang out and watch a game with him after he CRUSHES YOU on the field.

TODAY IS……………….
- “Zipper Day” It was in 1851 that Elias Howe, the inventor of the sewing machine, received a patent for an “Automatic, Continuous Clothing Closure.” Howe never made an attempt to market his invention and missed the recognition he may have received.
- “World Wish Day”, marking the day Chris Greicius received his wish to be a police officer, inspiring the creation of Make-A-Wish and its global wish-granting mission. Since Chris’ wish in 1980, more than 500,000 children around the world have had their one-true-wish granted by Make-A-Wish.

⇒ Heinz introduced purple and green colored ketchup into their EZ Squirt line of “kid-friendly” nozzled bottles.

CHURCH FACING FINES
A church in Aylmer, Ontario may face charges after ignoring rules on social distancing and instead holding services on Sunday morning.
Police had warned the church about hosting the outdoor service, but the warning fell on deaf ears. Now, police say “people will be held accountable” after officers showed up and took video of the scene.
On Sunday, some 70 cars were seen arriving to the church’s parking lot. The pastor spoke from a raised platform as those who gathered to hear his words remained in their vehicles. His celebration went out over a radio signal; the congregants tuned into it from their cars.
Reports say this was the church’s third such service, and that police have previously threatened that they would use roadblocks to halt it.
The pastor said “We’re not asking for special privilege or treatment. There was no parking lots as safe as ours this morning. We had no interaction before, during or after.”
Aylmer police noted in a statement that the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act says it is illegal to gather in groups of more than five people, which includes religious services.
Pastor Hildebrandt, it seems, remains undeterred by such a threat.

FACE VALUE:
Lockdown conditions during the coronavirus pandemic have made video conferencing a primary mode of communication between friends, family and co-workers, and apparently, many of us don’t like what we see when we look at ourselves onscreen. Plastic surgeons say that they are receiving an influx of appointments and consultations for cosmetic procedures.
Cosmetic surgeons can now create a digital depiction of your desired post-op result in online consultations.

Eric Church Wrote and Recorded 28 Songs In 28 Days
ERIC CHURCH challenged himself to write and record 28 songs in 28 days, and he did it. Why? He wanted to put himself in a position that he had never been in before.
Quote, “What if we put a bunch of pressure on me as a writer and the players as players and we make this like they used to make rock ‘n’ roll records?”
The schedule was simple, and tight. He would wake-up, write, record, and repeat”
And don’t expect to hear those songs trickling out here and there. He adds, quote, “I believe it needs to be an album, it needs to be listened to as an album.
ERIC also posted a spoken word video about the pandemic. It starts with images of empty streets and stadiums as he says, “Where there were once roars, now there’s echoes.”
But he promises that this is only temporary because Americans will prevail. It ends it with a teaser of a new song called “Through My Ray Bans”. (Here’s the link)
