➢ NASCAR has confirmed that a noose was found hanging in Bubba Wallace’s garage at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama.  Here is ESPN NASCAR reporter, Marty Smith, on how it is being dealt with.  (This comes less than two weeks after Wallace, NASCAR’s only black driver, successfully pushed for the removal of the confederate flag at events.  Bubba Wallace posted on twitter: “This will not break me, I will not give in nor will I back down.”)

➢ The abandoned bus in the Alaskan wilderness made famous in the 2007 film “Into the Wild” has been airlifted out of the wild, because people were literally dying to find it. The decision to get the 1940s-era bus out of Denali National Park was all about public safety — it attracted adventure-seeking fans of the movie to a dangerous backcountry. The bus was in a very secluded area with no cell service, unpredictable weather and often swollen rivers. Hikers from around the world attempted to find Fairbanks city bus #142 every year, but many have had to be rescued, and some even died. Christopher McCandless — the subject of “Into the Wild” — died there in 1992. The bus was featured on the movie poster.

➢ A Belgian man has been tormented for 10 years – by pizza. The 65-year-old has been the unwitting recipient of a constant stream of pizza deliveries that he didn’t order. Jean Van Landegham initially thought his unwanted deliveries were the result of an address mix-up or an incorrect order, but after years of being inundated with unwanted pies, sometimes as many as 14 at once, he feels that he is the victim of a cheesy culprit. Police are aware of the situation, and when they find the perpetrator, Van Landegham says it “will not be their best day.”

➢ A man in France has been awarded a $45,000 severance package because his job was “too boring”. Frédéric Desnard, who worked as a manager at a Paris perfume firm, claimed that his $80,000-per-year gig became a “descent into hell” after he lost a key client and was relegated into working monotonous duties, which resulted in him becoming “depressed, destroyed and ashamed.” Doctors seconded his self-diagnosis, resulting his hefty severance, the first “bore-out” case in French history.

➢ Jimmy Kimmel is taking a break from his late-night hosting duties to enjoy the summer with his family. In a hilarious clip crashed by Matt Damon, who jokingly claimed he’d been living in Kimmel’s spare bedroom, Kimmel said: “I’m taking the summer off to spend even more time with my family. I’ve been doing this job for almost 18 years. I’ve done 3,130 shows…and there’s nothing wrong…I just need a couple of months off.” Guest-hosted episodes will begin on July 6 after a two-week hiatus.

You Make 6,709 Spur-of-the-Moment Decisions a Year

Do you consider yourself to be a spontaneous person?  According to a new study, almost ALL of us are.  It found the average American makes 6,709 spur-of-the-moment decisions a year, or about 18 a day.

Most of them have to do with small things, like where to have lunch or what to watch on TV.

Here are four quick stats from the study . . .

  1. Over 80% of us think we’re a “spontaneous person” to some degree.
  1. People who DO think they’re spontaneous were 40% more likely to say they’re also a “happy person.”  And 38% more likely to feel content with their life.
  1. 72% of people said they usually feel happier after they do something spontaneous.
  1. Over half of us have gone on a last-minute trip in the past five years.  And almost all of those people said it made them happier.

The survey also asked people to name the top outdoor activities they want to do as soon as it feels safe again.  The top answers include traveling or sightseeing . . . hunting and fishing . . . hiking . . . camping . . . and playing an organized sport.

FOUR RANDOM FACTS

  1.  The temperature inside the Great Pyramid in Giza is 68 degrees, regardless of how hot it gets outside.
  1. In the comics, Batman carries a chunk of Kryptonite on his utility belt, just in case Superman turns evil.
  1. Nickelback got their name because when one of the members was a cashier at Starbucks, people would give him $1.50 to pay for their coffee that cost $1.45 . . . and he’d give them a nickel back.
  1. If you die in Amsterdam and you don’t have any family or next of kin, a poet will write a poem about you and recite it at your funeral.

GOOD NEWS

Another person who was inspired by Captain Tom Moore is walking for charity.  A 103-year-old retired doctor in Belgium is walking a marathon in his yard this month.  He started June 1st . . . walks just under a mile a day . . . and is on pace to finish his 26.2 miles on June 30th.  All the money he raises will go to support coronavirus research.

A parade was thrown for residents of a Fresno, California nursing home to celebrate Father’s Day safely.  Alicia Bitner was able to see and wave to her father who is also a Vietnam veteran.

Serious Question: How Do You Make a Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwich?

Apparently, the Internet has been arguing about the best way to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.  And if you’re wondering, “How many ways are there?” . . . the answer is at least three.

Most people take two pieces of bread . . . add peanut butter to one side . . . jelly to the other . . . slap them together . . . and call it a day.

Another way is to put the peanut butter AND jelly on one piece of bread, then toss the second piece of plain bread on top.  Apparently that one’s popular too.  But some people say those methods don’t always yield the best results.

Instead, they say to put a little bit of peanut butter on BOTH pieces of bread first to act as a barrier, which prevents the jelly from soaking into the bread and making it soggy.

In related news, a recent survey asked 9,000 Americans if they prefer creamy or crunchy peanut butter.  And CREAMY was the clear winner.  55% prefer creamy . . . 31% said crunchy . . . 4% like both equally . . . and 10% of us never eat peanut butter.

Men are slightly more likely to enjoy crunchy than women.

MONDAY JUNE 22ND

  1. NASCAR has confirmedthat a noose was found hanging in Bubba Wallace’s garage at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama.

  1. A random woman in Santa Monica, California, sawlooters breaking into a jewelry store.  So she stood in front of the door for two hours to keep people away.  Another woman posted a video of it, and the owner of the store called her a “hero.”

  1. Today is National Kissing Day.  Due to COVID-19 restrictions, quarantine, and face masks, it may be a tough year for making out.  (Here’s a “kiss” montage to discuss kissing.)

A British personal trainer is suing a woman he went on a date with after being left with a “virus for life” that he claims resulted from their romantic encounter.

Martin Conway, 45, says he was left “traumatized” after contracting a cold sore from a woman he knew as “Jovanna Lovelace” when the pair made out on a date.  He wants $236,000, claiming she failed to inform him she had the herpes simplex virus, and that she had a “moral, ethical and legal duty” to warn him of the risks before they locked lips.  While symptoms last between 7-10 days, you carry the virus for life and it can “flare up” at any stage.

DID YOU KNOW?
A study of app usage has found that TikTok is almost as popular with kids as YouTube. The analysis of 60,000 families across the US, UK, and Spain found that kids age 4-15 spend 80 minutes a day watching TikTok videos, just five minutes less than they spend watching YouTube. It also found that kids are now watching twice as many videos per day as they did just four years ago.

Here’s a guy on TikTok demonstrating a great hack for your trash can lining.  (Instead of stuffing the bag inside of the basket and then pulling the rest over the sides . . . he puts the entire bag over the TOP of the can, and then pushes the middle straight to the bottom so there are no air pockets.  It works best for grocery bags in small wastebaskets.)

TIM McGRAW ON PANDEMIC: ‘IT’S THE BEST TIME TO REACH OUT’

With the general country-wide orders to remain socially distant and stay home as much as possible during the current COVID-19 pandemic, Tim McGraw believes that it’s even more important these days to make an effort to stay connected.

[“My nephew, who’s a pharmacist, he said, ‘You know, I’m starting to think that disasters bring out the best in people but recessions and pandemics bring out the worst in people.’  And I said, ‘Well, Jeffrey, I understand what you’re saying. When a disaster happens, something happens then it’s over and everybody moves in to try to help. Everybody wants to help.  But when something like this happens, there’s a part of us that wants to put your arms around your immediate family and shutter the doors and not let the world in. Now, in a bigger way, it’s the best time to reach out, and I think that’s what keeps us sane during this time.  It’s what keeps us comfortable, what keeps us grounded, keeps our humanity about us and keeps us from not turning cold bitter and scared.”]  Tim’s latest single, “I Called Mama,” is the debut release off his next studio album, which will be released this fall.

SAM HUNT’S LONG BREAK BETWEEN ALBUMS RELIEVED THE PRESSURE FOR NEW MUSIC

Fans had to wait almost six years for Sam Hunt‘s sophomore album, Southside, and while they were begging for new music along the way, Sam tells us EXCLUSIVELY that in taking his time, he was able to relieve the pressure. [“There was pressure I’d say around year four. It was almost like people were like, ‘Well, is this guy even gonna put out anymore music,’ and there was definitely a time where I didn’t really know for sure, and then the pressure I think sort of slowly subsided over the next couple years, and I think with or without the pressure there were other powers at play that I had to take care of before I was in a place that I could I think finish the record, but I think it helped that there was a little more time that had passed maybe because there was not quite as much pressure.”] Southside has already produced the chart-topping hits “Body Like A Back Road” and “Kinfolks.” He’s in the Top 10 and climbing with his latest hit, “Hard To Forget.”

Tickets went back on sale on Saturday (June 20th) after the problem was fixed. Garth turned to Twitter to explain the problem and encourage fans to purchase tickets on Saturday.
