On Today’s Show
September 1, 2020 9:35 am➢ A teenager recorded herself on the phone complaining about her teacher’s rules for the class’ Zoom call. But she was shocked when he chimed in from the Zoom call to correct her. (She obviously forgot to hit the mute button.)
➢Bears apparently crave comfort food just like we do. Tuesday night (August 18th) someone shot a video at a Safeway Grocery store in Kings Beach, California that shows a brown bear walking out of the store with a bag of Tostitos chips in its mouth. ➢ A paranormal researcher says haunted house reports are on the rise since the beginning of the pandemic. John E.L. Tenney, the former host of TV’s “Ghost Stalkers,” says he used to receive two to five calls a month from people convinced their homes are haunted, but since COVID-19 restrictions started, he gets five to 10 calls a week. Why? According to him, it’s because more people are at home and taking notice of their environment. Tenney says perhaps some people have had a ghost in their house all along and they’ve just never noticed the “pops and creaks” that may be coming from an otherworldly source.
➢ Boxing fans will have to wait a little longer for Mike Tyson’s return to the ring. The exhibition fight between Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. has been pushed back from Sept. 12 to Nov. 28. The event will be streamed on pay-per-view and will take place at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. ESPN says the organizers of the event needed more time to land international TV deals and tie up loose ends in the pay-per-view side.
➢ Tim Allen is reuniting with his “Tool Time” co-star Richard Karn for a new home builder competition series on “History”, the network has announced. The 10-episode series, tentatively titled “Assembly Required,” will “spotlight the best and brightest builders from across the country, at their home workshops, as they compete to breathe new life into everyday household items in desperate need of fixing.” Allen and Karn will host and executive produce the series, which is set to premiere in 2021.

SNAKES IN THE TOILET
An Australian woman who had difficulty flushing her toilet was shocked to find four snakes coiled up inside the back of the toilet.
Sofie Pearson, 25, says that when she went to her bathroom last Sunday, she had to push down hard on the button to get the toilet to flush.
“I was a bit confused so I figured I’d just pull the top off and check what the issue was.”
What she discovered were four snakes wiggling inside. The largest snake was 3.2 feet (1 meter) long. She says “I sort of looked at them for a second and thought … that’s not right,”
Tree snakes, which mostly feed on frogs and skinks, are non-venomous and usually sleep in tree hollows. She took a picture and some video before calling a friend for help to remove them.
The friend released the snakes unharmed into a cane field nearby.
This is not the first time Pearson has made such a discovery. Just over a month ago, she found another tree snake inside her bathroom next to the toilet, she said.
She said she suspected the snakes had entered her house through cracks in the floorboards.

HITTING THE PREHISTORIC HAY:
Humans have been sleeping in beds for nearly as long as they’ve been roaming the earth.
In South Africa’s renowned Border Cave excavation site, archaeologists have uncovered evidence of grass sleeping mats that date back 200,000 years — more than 100,000 years earlier than previously thought.
They say the prehistoric slumber sacks used a surprisingly sophisticated system of grass stacked on top of ash from a fireplace or burned plants, which was apparently used to keep pets from jumping in.
It is thought that these beds were also used as a workspace, as they contained stone shards from the tools used in their making.

WAKANDA FOREVER
The tweet from Chadwick Boseman’s account announcing his death on Friday has become the most liked tweet of all time. Twitter made the announcement with the words: “Most liked Tweet ever. A tribute fit for a King. #WakandaForever”. Boseman’s verified account tweeted out a family statement confirming his death and revealing he was diagnosed with Stage III colon cancer in 2016, then battled the disease over the last four years as it advanced to Stage IV. It has received over 7.2 million likes. The previous record-holder was one from former president Barack Obama, which has 4.3 million likes.
DARIUS RUCKER ON PLAYING CONCERTS
Darius Rucker is more than ready to return to his regular life of touring around the country. Last year, he said he planned to take a much-needed break from the road in 2020 after a very successful tour with Hootie & The Blowfish, and the global pandemic certainly made that happen.
While Darius had the opportunity to play a drive-in concert back in July, he tells us it wasn’t the same as performing for packed venues. [“It was great to be out there playing music with my band but everyone was so separated, so spread out that there was no feedback. You could only see maybe the first couple rows of people, not even that many people. It was great and I would do it again but as far as the feedback and as far as the vibe of the show it was totally, totally different, and I’m dying to play. Yes, I did say I needed a break from touring and I did . . . okay, whoever was listening to that, the break is over. I’m ready to get back to work (laughs). Yeah, I’m dying to play. I’m dying to see on the schedule gigs. I’m ready to get back out there and start playing for people. I miss it so much!”]
Darius recently released a new single called “Beers And Sunshine” which is making its way up the charts. It’s the debut release from his next studio album.
KANE BROWN MAKES WIFE AND DAUGHTER VIDEO STARS
Kane Brown’s daughter, 10-month-old Kingsley, will make her debut in her dad’s upcoming video for “Worldwide Beautiful.” Country Now reports that Kane shared the news during a recent Facebook live chat after a fan asked him which songs from his new EP would have accompanying music videos.
Kane also hopes to make Kingsley and his wife, Katelyn, the stars of the video for “Worship You.” He tells us: [“I mean, my music is, you know, surrounded by my family. They’re my world, especially Kinglsey. When she smiles, she brightens up the whole house. So ‘Worship You’, I definitely want to get both of them in the music video. When I hear that song it reminds me of both of them. I’m just grateful that they’re part of my project. Even if they don’t know that they are, they are. They’re like the main focus.”]
Both songs are featured on Kane’s Mixtape Vol. 1 EP which was released earlier this month.
He will perform “Worldwide Beautiful” on NBC’s Today show on Friday (August 28th).
