➢Kraft Dinner introduced “Pumpkin Spice” flavored…KD (mac & cheese) in time for the first day of Fall this week. Manufacturer Kraft Heinz Canada says Pumpkin Spice KD is made with the usual cheese powder, plus the added fall flavours: hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and ginger. And yes, it IS a publicity stunt. Only 1,000 lucky Canadians will be able to get their hands on it, in a “Pumpkin Spice Boost Pack”, which includes KD, a fork, and a white coffee-style cup with their name written on it The waitlist can be joined at PumpkinSpiceKD.com

➢ Pringles is testing out a new can for their iconic chips. Why? For years, the tall tube that houses the paraboloid-shaped potato chips has been at the top of a list of worst offenders when it comes to recyclability. Now Kellogg’s, which owns the Pringles brand, is trying out a new design made of recycled paper in three stores in England. Kellogg’s said the new design was part of the company’s goal to make all packaging 100% reusable, recyclable or compostable by the end of 2025. The current can is a combination of foil, paper board, metal and plastic that is difficult to recycle due to the number of different materials involved

➢ Thanks to Gucci, you can now own your very own pair of grass-stained overalls for the low, low price of $1,400.  According to the luxury brand’s description, the eco washed organic denim overall is made from organic cotton specifically treated for a stained-like, distressed effect. As an alternative, the company is also offering grass stained jeans in the UK for about $770.

➢ Fans of the ’90s comedy “Father of the Bride” just got some exciting news.

Netflix announced they will be hosting a reunion special with the cast and crew TODAY at 1 p.m. to benefit chef Jose Andres’ non-profit World Central Kitchen.

Last Thursday, Nancy Meyers, who co-wrote “Father of the Bride”, took to Instagram to share a poster of the 1991 film. Starring Steve Martin and Kimberly Williams-Paisley as his soon-to-be married daughter the poster shows the high-strung dad kissing his daughter’s cheek after working hard to plan her big day. The flick, which also starred Diane Keaton and Martin Short, was followed up by a 1995 sequel.

“If he thought a wedding was a lot, how would he react to 2020?” Meyers captioned the poster. “Coming soon to the phone in your hand!”

➢ Orlando Bloom was on “The Tonight Show” recently and Jimmy couldn’t help but ask him about all the models on display behind him.  Orlando said it’s how he’s been keeping occupied while quarantined.

GOOD NEWS

An 89-year-old guy in Utah named Derlin Newey lives alone and couldn’t pay his bills.

So he’s been delivering pizzas for Papa John’s.

When Carlos Valdez starts getting his craving, he chooses Papa John’s.

“I love pineapple on my pizza,” he said with a laugh. “That’s the only thing my wife loves.”

The Valdez’s have gotten to know Derlin from his deliveries to their house.

“Hello, are you looking for some pizza?” is a phrase Newey uses every time he delivers to them.

Newey is always so kind, the Valdez’s ask for him by name whenever they order.

They also record his deliveries for their TikTok videos, which have become pretty popular with their 60,000-plus followers.

But a couple he delivers to didn’t like him working so much.

So they asked their TikTok followers to donate 50 cents each to help him out, and surprised him with a $12,000 tip.

EVERYTHING NICE ABOUT PUMPKIN SPICE:
With fall officially arriving, for some it’s the most wonderful time of the year: Pumpkin Spice season.

And if you are one of those people who want pumpkin spice in everything from your Oreos to your…pumpkin spice…here is some good news: The spices that are mixed together to make pumpkin spice each have their own health benefits. The flavor is generally made up of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, and allspice.

Cinnamon is thought to help control blood sugar levels, nutmeg has been used to treat many afflictions including cancer and kidney disease, but more research is needed. Ginger seems to be an effective treatment for nausea and morning sickness. Cloves are used to treat toothaches, and allspice is good for things like intestinal gas, diarrhea, flu and colds. And let’s not forget pumpkin.

While it isn’t actually an ingredient in ALL pumpkin spice products, if it is used, you’re in luck. Pumpkin is high in vitamin A, which is good for your eyes, skin, and fighting infections.

STUDY: RUNNING SHOES THAT CURVE UP AT THE TOE MAY PUT A SPRING IN YOUR STEP

If you wear shoes that curve up at the toe you might want to shelve them. Researchers say this curve is called a toe spring, and they’re a common feature of athletic shoes as they keep toes continually elevated to help the front part of the foot roll forward during motion.

But the scientists found that the more curved a toe spring is, the less power the foot has to exert when pushing off from the ground while walking or running, so over time toe springs can actually weaken the muscles of the feet and shift the muscle work to a ligament that connects the heel bone to the toes called the plantar fascia.

In turn this can cause plantar fasciitis—a condition that leads to intense pain at the heel.

Still, this study cannot prove that toe springs cause plantar fasciitis, and they only looked at people whose feet may already have been adapted to shoes with toe springs, so results might’ve been different if they looked at people who habitually wear flat shoes.

LUKE COMBS GRATEFUL TO PERFORM FOR FIRST TIME IN MONTHS AT ACM AWARDS

Luke Combs was thrilled to take home a few awards at last week’s ACM Awards in Nashville, but he was just as happy to be able to play live for an audience, albeit a virtual one. Luke performed from the Bluebird Cafe alongside one of his band members, and he says he was more than ready[“You know, it’s the first time I’ve performed outside of my garage in six or seven months, so that was really nice. You know, the tour bus has been parked outside of my house since March and it’s been weird seeing it sit there so to be able to come in town and play at the Bluebird and just being able to play and even be with one guy that’s in my band and play some music and get to win some trophies has been really great.”]

Luke took home trophies for Male Artist and Album of the Year for What You See Is What You Get.

He will release the deluxe version of his latest album, What You See Is What You Get — called What You See Ain’t Always What You Get — on October 23rd. The extended edition will feature all 18 songs from the 2019 project as well as five new tracks.
