On Today’s Show
December 7, 2020 9:35 am➢ On Black Friday last week, customers at a northern California Best Buy waited in line for many hours during a pandemic to buy the new PlayStation 5. Would you stay in line for 36 hours? The first guy did. (Others had their cards declined, and one guy is honest about his plans. They were all wearing masks.
➢ A guy in Maine who was adopted as a kid recently tracked down his biological father, and they met for the first time over Thanksgiving when he picked him up at the airport . . . dressed as Will Ferrell’s character from the movie “Elf.” He recreated the scene where Buddy the Elf meets his dad and sings a song. The dad had never seen the movie, so the joke didn’t really land. But the internet loved it.
➢ People from a northern Spanish region shared photos of the hair-covered skin of their young children and officials have admitted that about 20 children were mistakenly given minoxidil, a medication for hair growth, instead of a med which is used to treat acid reflux because it was mislabeled.
It took authorities two months to realize the labeling error and shut down the laboratory where the mistake was made as well as recall the medicine. The families filed civil and criminal complaints against the laboratory and several companies. It’s not clear if the condition is reversible in the children.
➢ An unnamed Russian man, now age 59, was just six-years-old when he wedged a coin into his right nostril. He was “too scared” to tell his “strict” mother about the incident and reportedly later “forgot” about it. It seems the coin didn’t bother him until recently, when he started to complain that he couldn’t breathe at all out of his right nostril, and visited a hospital. A scan revealed that a blockage had formed around the coin, blocking air. Doctors performed surgery to remove the stones and the coin. The man has regained full breathing ability in that nostril.
➢ GEORGE CLOONEY recently revealed that he’s been using a Flowbee to cut his own hair for more than years.
The Vice President of Flowbee says sales have gone up TENFOLD over the past week . . . and they’ve completely sold out. (Who would’ve predicted that 2020 would be the year that Flowbees were harder to get than Coachella tickets.)
The company says that due to the surprise, quote, “Clooney effect,” it’ll be at least two to four weeks before they can get supply back up to meet demand.
The company hasn’t worked with Clooney before . . . and they didn’t even know he was a customer. But obviously, they’re thrilled, and they’re planning on sending him a thank you package.
TODAY IS……………….
- “Letter Writing Day”, when we’re encouraged to take a few minutes to send someone a handwritten letter. Letter-writing has almost become a lost art. When was the last time you wrote a letter to someone, either printed or in cursive?

If the Hand Sanitizer in Your Car Freezes, Throw It Away
Here’s a good tip as temperatures drop: If you ever leave hand sanitizer in your car and find it FROZEN the next morning . . . throw it away.
It’s not because cold weather ruins it. It’s because if it freezes at all, it was probably no good in the first place.
Most hand sanitizers are alcohol-based. So they shouldn’t freeze until the temperature gets REALLY low. Like negative-50 degrees or lower.
So if it does freeze, it means there wasn’t enough alcohol in there to be effective. Or it was a cheap knock-off that didn’t have the ingredients listed on the label.
Alcohol-free hand sanitizers DO exist. A new study actually found they might work just as well as the alcohol kind. (Instead of alcohol, they use something called benzalkonium chloride to kill germs.)
But almost all the brands you see at stores contain alcohol. So if yours freezes, check the label. And if it’s alcohol-based, throw it out.

Morgan Wallen Poked Fun at Himself on “SNL”
MORGAN WALLEN made his “SNL” debut on Saturday . . . two months after getting yanked for partying without a mask and breaking their COVID-19 safety protocols.
He made fun of the whole thing during a sketch on the show. He’s partying at a University of Alabama bar when host JASON BATEMAN bursts through the door AS the ghost of Morgan ONE MONTH in the future. He warns him not to party.
But then the Jason version of the ghost starts getting tempted by all the girls and booze at the bar, so cast member BOWEN YANG enters as the ghost of Morgan TWO MONTHS in the future with more warnings.
It ends with Morgan making up a song called “Focus on the Future” where he thanks the show for “giving this poor Southern boy a second Yankee chance.”
By the way . . . the two songs he performed as musical guest were “7 Summers” and “Still Goin’ Down”.
DAN + SHAY BRING HOLIDAY ‘JOY’ WITH ORIGINAL CHRISTMAS SONGS
Dan + Shay have been making the media rounds and spreading holiday cheer over the last week with their two new original songs, “Take Me Home For Christmas” and “Christmas Isn’t Christmas.”
Dan Smyers says that the first song, “Take Me Home For Christmas,” is something that almost everyone can relate to. [“This song is about that feeling whenever you’re with someone, you’re in a new relationship, you haven’t quite met their family yet . . . it’s about that time of year when everybody parts, they go their own ways for the holidays, but you just want to stay with that person, you want to spend Christmas with them, you want to spend New Years with them, you want to learn about their family, you want to learn about where they grew up. So, the song is basically just a story about that. That feeling that we felt with our wives when we first met them, and we got to go home and meet their families for the first time. We’re so proud of this song, and hopefully it can bring a little bit of joy into people’s lives this holiday season.”]
